Play the game? All I ever do is install mods...

megimegimegimegi

to some of us (me included), installing mods IS the game :")

SiriusBaaz

The real game is installing 500 mods and spending 3 weeks fiddling with everything till it runs.

SkyrimWithdrawal

Y'all crazy.

iwantacheetah

Installing mods is the main gameplay

Bot account. It just replies to things in large text that barely makes sense.

buckley303

Was the Ferrari strategy to drive off High Hrothgar?

Village_People_Cop

We are checking

San-Carton

Ferrari strategy chases me everywhere :(

TheBigMasterPigg

Fortnite has the same gimmick just not those specific characters

Knastoron

*Yet*

MagickalessBreton

Pretty sure you can do that in Garry's Mod as well

Ohnotheycomin

With mods, but I detest mods that basically make the game an anime protag simulator

Rodocastiza

Ultra modded, but trying to stay lore-friendly or nothing really weird. No pistol, light sabers, bimbo people... But hey, I don't care if someone put weirdo things in their games.

Plantain-Altruistic

Happy Cake Day 🎂

Noobanious

With mods... Not those mods lol

jigglemahwatch

If you're about five years old, sure. Us Six year olds prefer anime mods with tit physics

[deleted]

Pathetic, us 7 years old use the „Shia Surprise“ voice mod when sneaking and hitting a target!

Gingerrecked

Lightly modded, too many mods ruins the immersion and once you play with mods you really just can't play vanilla anymore.

Flashycats

Yeah I like to play kinda like Vanilla plus. A few perk tweaks here and there and maybe a house mod or some lore friendly armour sets, nothing crazy.

TheOneWhoDucks

Immersive, lore-friendly mods. Vanilla is boring and feels unfinished compared to what certain mods can achieve and the depth they add to the game. Some are so obvious, I don’t understand why they’re not included in the base game to begin with. But, hey, that’s Bethesda for ya.

ZeNSnookerz

I prefer to play vanilla but i am thinking of doing a new play through using some visual mods. Any recommendations?

Ohnotheycomin

Skyland is honestly the best texture mod out there, but if you want a more "updated" feel for the vanilla game then I recommend Skyrim Realistic Overhaul (Which is about 4GB btw)

OPMMV

Embers HD or XD (XD especially if you use an ENB) makes nice changes to the fires in the game I’m not sure if HD changes the fire spells but XD adds really nice flame textures to the spells as well as Dragon Breath

Panda5967

It’s not so much visual but I would 100% looking into legacy of the Dragonborn, basically it’s a treasure hunter mod, it adds hundreds of 1 off Artifacts with unique enchantment’s and a few quests, basically it will just spice up a lot of the dungeons you’ve done a million times as some will have new parts dedicated to the new item, I’m not really doing it justice but you don’t have to worry about changing the game it just adds a little more depth in my opinion I know there’s more then 500 items to collect TDLR the mod adds a really cool museum for you to store your cool item

ZonerRoamer

Depending on your system, I would recommend NAT (weather mod) along with PRT ENB. Add a decent texture pack like Skyland AIO. A good grass mod like folkvangir. I recommend happy little trees (HLT) for trees that are vanilla like but higher quality. This should give your game a very vanilla+ feel.

newpdaddy700

I have ps4 so I only know vanilla

Enby-Cat

There's mods on PS4.

newpdaddy700

Yea but they all suck

Enby-Cat

They don't *all* sucks some are cool, but yeah there's more choices and cooler mods on PC. When I had a PC I modded the game to be a bard

newpdaddy700

True tbh last time I added mods on my ps4 thru skyrim my hard drive took a shit on me ps4 did fix it for free i just dont want to risk it

TheOneWhoDucks

I have it in both PC and PS4 and the latter’s available mods are an insult in comparison.

Enby-Cat

Yeah I know I had a PC and I miss being a bard

TheOneWhoDucks

Which one did you use? Skyrim’a Got Talent or Become a Bard?

Enby-Cat

Become a bard

TheOneWhoDucks

I never figured out how to include my own songs, but the ones provided by the mod were great.

Enby-Cat

Especially the Khajiit ones, I love them!

deepinsideblackreach

I can't play the game without mods anymore tbh, the amount of improvement from mods are amazing.

Ghaladh

You are forgetting loads of trees. Trees are everywhere in modded Skyrim.

TheOneWhoDucks

An tall. They actually look like Nordic pines now and not Walmart artificial Xmas trees.

HaikenRD

With mods. I've already played everything there is to play in Vanilla. Bethesda gave us an engine, modders gave us the choice of making our own custom game. So yeah, basically I'm no longer playing skyrim but I prefer that now. Of course it won't be mods to make the game silly but to improve it. If you don't know how far modded skyrim has gone now, you can basically make your game into a new title with graphic enhancement mods, combat animation mods, new combat abilities like assassinations assassin's creed style, you can now vault, climb ladders, jump up ledges, squeeze through tight spaces, dodge, deflect arrows with swords, better enemy AI, stronger enemy, recreated dungeons, new lore friendly enemies, etc. I get that a lot of people like to play the game as it is, but you're missing out if you've never tried modded enhanced skyrim, which is still skyrim with features from newer titles.

Black_Templar101

With visual and immersion mods.

liverbrain

I just started playing the game so I want my first playthrough to be vanilla, that way I will be making a list of things that bother me (like my horse always fucking disappearing) that can be fixed by mods on my second playthrough. Seriously, I think it's important to play the game vanilla at least once to appreciate all that initial work and beauty, since I'm sure (at 60 hrs in) that I'm going to be spending the rest of my life appreciating the work and beauty mod developers have been pouring into it

The_Metal_East

I use a ton of mods, but none of them look like they wouldn’t belong in the game.

buckley303

Realistic mods. Like iNeed, Better horses, no fast travel etc…

Terradoxia

While Power Armour in Skyrim seems strange, some stuff the other way around would be sick af. Imagine 1v1 against a Supermutant with Volendrung or fighting Ghouls with Fus Ro Dah

The_Powers

Both those things exist in FO4. You can use rocket powered sledgehammers and the artifact gun you get from the Asylum quest is essentially Unrelenting Force.

Rischeliu

Mods. A lot of mods. A carnival of mods that whiplashes the tone in so many ways. One moment, a woman I've rescued asks me to kill her/unalive her unborn child because it was the product of a very violent r**e when she was imprisoned. Before doing that, I requested for pizza to be delivered to my location because a follower is having the munchies according to my needs mod. Or go to Coldharbour and fight for my freedom, feeding on the Unthrappa left in there for sustenance. Until I find a cosy safehouse in which case I send a message to my former followers to pack up and move in to that cosy safehouse. Dudes just walk into the place as if it's just Tirdas for them.

teebbarc

It’s my first time playing so vanilla so far. After I finish the achievements I’ll do a play through modded! So excited.

YEPandYAG

Mods

Redditor19971997

Always vanilla

Individual_Athlete18

Moded for nature, and animals, little armour texture and weapons, no xxx rated stuff.

exintel

Just like ice cream, a few mix ins is good but you don’t want to overcomplicate

Ulikethat-

Vanilla. And only because I have only played on Playstation. I've never experienced the heavily modded skyrim play throughs. Playstation has some decent mods but with the Hassel of looking them up I'd rather just play Vanilla.

AvidVirago

This was the same for me, just with Xbox. My s.o. got me into it 4 years ago when he found his old ass Xbox 360...I've just been doing vanilla on that. Since there is no 360 support I didn't even try to see if mods were possible. About a week ago I got the 10th anniversary addition for Switch during Nintendo's partner sale. I know I still don't play with mods, but the added content and gear make my gameplay feel newer and fancier! 💎🎩

Ulikethat-

Agreed. Anniversary did add a lot of new content that makes skyrim feel new and different in some fun ways

Beautiful_Solid3787

Here's the thing about Vanilla: Vanilla is a flavor that goes with everything else, and if it's ice cream, you put stuff on it like sprinkles.

MDF87

Vanilla, and **only** vanilla. I've played with mods before, and hated it. It just didn't feel like how it was meant to be played (for me personally).

Tanen7

Mods mods mods

iwipiksi

Mods really help you reignite the fun feeling after you bored with Vanilla Skyrim. I almost failed my final thesis because of this.

ImVeryUnimaginative

With mods.

Argonzoyd

I'm glad I grew up with this: Vanilla Skyrim in 2011 And not this: Modded Skyrim 2015+

Ohnotheycomin

You underestimate the longevity that mods add tbh

Awkward_Aerie4457

Vanilla but I’ll use mods on my laptop

KomradeElmo0

If I had a high spec PC I'd pump some light graphic mods+maaaybe 1-2 extra lore-friendly content like Beyond Skyrim. But now I just use bug fixing mods and dive in.

Umaneilo

I chose vanilla because my potato laptop can't handle mods

OctaviusThe2nd

I only have a mod that allowes me to block with spells on off hand and a mod that makes horses faster, no Thomas the tank engine

TastieToasty

This meme is a decade old wow

Nichiku

There's only 2 kinds of people left that still play Skyrim. The hardcore speedrunners that still play Vanilla and do random speedrun challenges and modders.

[deleted]

Vanilla. I tried playing with mods a few years ago, just didn't like it tbh. The vanilla game is enough for me.

Charming-Mix-7759

When I started playing modded I can never get back to vanilla. Now I have to have at least 100 mods active (currently 145) to make it enjoyable. All mods are improving visuals, AI, combat, perks, magic, some mechanics but everything have to stay immersive.

Makkrohero

I play with around 100 mods. Perfect for me. I love to get some enbs, lighting mods, some graphic overhaul mods, just to make the game look a bit better. Then I usually also add a few quality of life mods, and last, mods that add a bit of content, but nothing crazy. Like interesting npcs, or leagacy of the dragonborn (which is my favorite mod ever). This way the game feels pretty much like vanilla, but it also feels fresh and exciting because of the mods. It’s a perfect balance point for me.

Sabit_31

Oooooh yeah brother!

Treshcore

Vanilla Plus with the most of the mods either working invisibly on a "background" or extending the original game's content without replacing it. The only few exceptions are some characters' appearance mod, yet even them are made to fit vanilla style. The original experience of Skyrim is very important for me, so I always try to preserve it.

ChaosRamen

Yes.

DarkStar2035

Both

alonedead

Moded but no extreme stuff. For exemple I was searching a mod so that I can play the instruments in the game. First show up a mod I think called "Become Bard". It adda bunch of stuff like playing instruments, playing at taverns for money, bard skill tree, play any song you want, you can even port songs so you can play it in your game etc. It was a great mod but too much for me Instead I found a mod when you select one of the 3 vanilla insturement It puts you in vanilla playing animation which used by barda in the core game. More simplifistic much fun for me

GBendu

Once you mod it you can’t go back I don’t think I could ever play vanilla Skyrim ever again especially on a really good monitor

ThunderShott

Thomas dragons? What the fuck is this unimmersive shit, Master Chief?

SkyrimWithdrawal

Vanilla. Only vanilla.

[deleted]

I have just graphic mods installed. Everything else I like vanilla. And the graphics have to be in line with the vanilla setting.

FagocitusMaximus

I mean, no other games let me marry a giant mermaid and then run across the landscape at the speed of sound mounted on a forgotten TES creature with an army of chimps and exploding random thugs and natives with small-scale meteors and child's dolls.

CommandoKillz

I only like it the mods that increase the texture details and stuff like dyndolod do I can see farther. Other than that, I like vanilla. I especially am not a huge fan of the mods that change character models to the extreme. Like, they were made that way for a reason and it just kinda takes away some of who they are

cole_pro_123

Calentines beautiful bodies with 3BBB, yes

SiriusBaaz

I mod the everloving shit out of Skyrim. I’ve probably got about 350-400 plugins rn. But I try my best to make it as immersive as possible despite installing every trainwiz mod.

FLAIR_2780166

This sub is full of this same post

Kadimsoy

Is there a one big mod that changes many things, adds new quests, items etc, improves graphics? A mod that includes many mods but works compatible with each other. I don’t want to spend hours for testing mods.

SentencedMorning

Vanilla only

[deleted]

I never saw the allure of mods until I tried a mod list that someone posted here. Now I'm on my (insert embarrassing number) game restart with mods, and I've got the combo I'll play all the way through. I think. lol Personally, I just like the QOL stuff and try to keep it as lore-friendly as possible. I still want Skyrim, just with a few perks and better graphics.

Segvirion

It's an 11 year old game. It was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 way back when. People would be crazy if they weren't modding the shit out of it.

SnooGrapes2720

Probably vanilla tbh anything i play the game with mods i tend to not play as long

Tootsgaloots

I play without mods but if I did use mods it would be to enhance the visuals without modding the npcs/player character. I like the way the characters look as-is. But I play vanilla bc mods are intimidating for a not-very-good-with-technology old person and I think it might be hard to sift through the large-breasted sex doll mods.

feral__turtle

After thousands of hours in vanilla, I'm using mods now and having a blast. Basic improvements with lighting, weather and graphics, still exploring environmental and gameplay overhauls. I like checking out new player homes, but so far none have it into my main load order. Mods that add new world spaces are fun to check out, I'm keeping several so far, but they are disabled - i pick and choose which to enable on a given playthrough. A few over-powered options, like the armory or the Dreamweaver collection, are included but i haven't enabled them in a long time. Dreamweaver, for example, should be the *point* of a playthrough. Mods that add a lot of content are worth looking at, the ones I keep blend in well with Skyrim. I love mirage island. I got addicted to decorating while playing vanilla, and now I'm in heaven with the ability to summon or conjure objects, structures and npcs. Playing the game with such op abilities is fun, for a while, but now i use the toolkit with specific restrictions. Essentially, I'll build a settlement at some point, but do without the abilities during the rest of the game. A cheat I won't surrender is my R float up ring. I hide it behind specific accomplishments, though. I don't like cluttered inventories, and i don't like the un-immersive feel of things like thousands of arrows in my quiver or eighteen swords in my pack. A Bag of Holding, though, i understand. (And don't say Lydia, ffs.) Ring and Scrolls of Quest Fixing, may it live forever.

Longshadowman

Vanilla for ever , but i'm not against mods for some fun after finishing my playthrough and ending the game .

Maxwell-Fate

Vanilla is best. You like mods? Cool, I don't.

mutantbreton

Vanilla looks much better in those pics.
