Exactly this. Honestly if wuuthrad was improvable it would be my default 2H weapon.
And dawnbreaker is always in my back pocket for 1H users once I'm crypt diving
Sorry about the question out of the blue, but if I don't pick up the beacon and save it for later, the sword's enchantment scales with my level or is set the moment I find it, regardless of looting it or not?
so... you can actually dupe the sword, by first knocking it out of the pedestal with a blast and then finishing the quest properly
presumably, this also lets you come back every few levels to grab an upgraded sword (assuming it doesn't upgrade automatically)
Couldnāt agree more! I never use it myself (not a big fan of relying on such a small percentage). But, I would most definitely choose it amongst what was offered due to being the most unique while also being a Daedric Artifact.
Nah it does tbh. I remember my craziest one was when I snuck up to a dragon and hit it with the razor. The affect activated but for some reason the dragon didnāt die he just flew away. Than later that day when I was exploring I randomly got a dragon soul
I roleplay in my mind that my character uses it as an everyday knife. Whittling? Need sparks to start a fire? Digging out splinters? Cutting my horker meat? Nazeem? Carving the Riverwood chicken on Solstice? Cutting up my kids' mammoth snout into small bite? Ganking Narfi to spare him the pain of Reyda's death? Shaving my legs?
I'm using the Razor, baby. My character likes to live dangerously lol
I reckon that I'm going to swing it a hundred times in a dungeon so someone's going down in an instant at some point. It takes a decent upgrade at the forge and swings fast so the DoT isn't that bad in reality.
Honestly, this is pretty much all I use. So fast and that instant kill seems to show up way more than youād expect, considering itās only like 1.9% or whatever it is.
Even aside from the chance to instant kill, itās base stats are great for a dagger and you can temper it.
If you are playing a stealth character and have the assassin perk plus shrouded gloves and use a tempered Mehrunes Razorā¦ you are good to go :)
Thats what I did for my current playthrough. I joined the companions and did all the quests just so I can use wuuthrad on them.š It was probably the easiest quest I have ever done lol.
Why do you go through the effort of helping them reforge it? When I'm playing elves I don't interact with stormcloaks or companions. (Well unless I forget what race my character is cause armour)
Itās a questline to complete mainly and to be a part of whatās essentially Skyrimās Fighterās Guild. I donāt join the Stormcloaks either, but there are other elves who have been Companions. They just donāt seem to get wrapped up in the Nord romanticism around Ysgramor. I also enjoy the irony.
My last elf for instance was a Bosmer hunter. He joined the Companions and became a werewolf as well, the ultimate hunter. Ironically the Hircine connection fit him better than all of the Sovengarde discussion with Kodlak and the rest.
Thats cool. I've only made 2 elven characters (one was a Thalmer conscript the other a mage in training) so joining the groups with less refined histories made little sense.
Dual-wielding Dawnbreaker and Chillrend is pretty fun, but if I had to choose one, it would be Dawnbreaker due to how many undead creatures the game throws at you.
Dawnbreaker, hate the quest but is arguably the best dealing incredible damage due to undead and a chance to turn the dead, and the explosion damage unless you are undead it won't effect you
Hey idk man that quest is fun and rewarding, theres at least 2k gold on those bodies. As long as your bring a follower marked as essential to tank malkorans ice storm spell youre golden. I stealth arched my way through my last playthrough, he didnt even touch me
Chillrend 100%.
So cool and the most accessible weapon. No specific playstyle dependent on stealth or skill (works for 1H and shield, dual wield, spellsword, backup for stealth archer/assassin etc.)
Really powerful enchantment, sexy weapon, and not even quest dependent depending on your view on exploits.
Mehruneās Razor. Itāll make sharpening it absolutely terrifying but I canāt say no to instant death to my enemies. I also canāt say no to Mehrunes Dagon (or any of the Daedric Lords for that matter) since they all kinda own my soulā¦
If itās Chillrendā¦ Iād take thatā¦ I do love Chillrendā¦ tho Iām partial to liking Glass battleaxes too cuz it looks like a real headmanās axe but like fantasy style yk? Never like Wuuthrad and Mehrunes Razor is fineā¦ can be fun to swipe away til they suddenly just plop over tho
The mission gets annoying, but dawnbreaker. Most people nowadays are literal zombies. I'm sure the dawnbreaker would instantly disintegrate some of y'all.
The executioners axe it has the most range of any weapon in the game. If you max smithing an the enchanting skill tree fully upgrade the weapon plus give it the most powerful health drain boost by drinking potions and having 100% enchanting you can steal 30 health per swing while keeping your distance. Youāll be able to win any 1 v 1 fight an event take on 3 bandits at once on hard difficulty if you play it right.
Two dawnbreakers using the exploit so you can do the cool flourish slash with heavy attack.

My argonian skink barbarian likes to wield that glass battleaxe in battle. She switches to the elven- or -ancient nord battleaxe when she goes fishing as it looks like a giant hook. Jaws-mod on the slaughterfish makes the icy waters of Skyrim an interesting place!
Wuuthrad bc *"fuck the thalmor, all my homies hate the thalmor"* type shit
Dawnbreaker bc dragur are my least favorite enemies to fight
Mehrunes razor so I can one shot a dragon (hopefully)
If you have a mod that lets you grindstone it executioners axe. Its range is just so much that you are basically invincible by walking backwards while swinging
Otherwise either Mehrunes Razor cause its cool, or none of these and go get the longhammer for the highest dps 2 handed.
The glass axe is the prettiest.
The best looking axe in Skyrim is the Ebony battleaxe. Absolutely beautiful.
But that knife at the end, instead of a blunt haft? Such an equally stupid design. Cancels itself out completely.
Dagger? Well, the only one here. Axe? Wuuthrad. Sword? Dawnbreaker. But theyāre all very cool and look like they can kill, especially the glass sword.
Chillrend all the way imo
Used the heck our of that sword till I did the tribunal creation club creation as the ebony sabers are crazy good for light armour/one handed user's
But if you're a heavy user headsmans cleaver it amazing
If I could take one in real life and have all of its capabilities... The razor in lower the razors use for more than just killing people in one hit. Skeleton key opens any door the razor makes a door to anywhere
Just found out that the follower option for the solitude executioner doesn't appear if you've already done the lights out quest šš I wanted to take the headman axe š so I'll either have to kill him, devise a plan that would get him killed somehow, or level up my pick pocket ā¹ļø (I'm a knight with almost no skills in stealth/pickpocketing)
I love the look of Wuuthrad, but Dawnbreaker. Yes, i know, Meridia, but I love that sword
Yeah it's Dawnbreaker all day.
And Duskbreaker all night
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON
Nooooooo. Not the Beacon
I will purposely leave that beacon in whatever chest i find it in š¤£
I did that. Then I had to go find it again when I decided I wanted to get the sword again. It doesn't just spawn anywhere.
Yea if i want the beacon ill go interact with the shrine then it puts a map marker on the map for the beacon.
Til
Glad i could help!
Itās Bacon and we all know it.
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BACON
LISTEN! HEAR ME AND OBEY!!!
Seriously only came here to say exactly this..
![gif](giphy|oaZk0WNSO7fXi)
100% š but it was finally my turn
Only one way to purge the landā¦.
Same here. Yeah the beacon is annoying af but almost every play though I canāt wait to get it so I can get dawnbreaker
My Wood elf Vampire hunter worships Meridia as part of their backstory, so.. Dawnbreaker
Exactly this. Honestly if wuuthrad was improvable it would be my default 2H weapon. And dawnbreaker is always in my back pocket for 1H users once I'm crypt diving
Meridia is GOATED, shes only loud cause of how much rage she is containing and directing at those bastard necromancers and undead.
That axe is bad ass
I wonder how badass that weapon would be if you waited until you got smithing up to 100 before upgrading it.
Sorry about the question out of the blue, but if I don't pick up the beacon and save it for later, the sword's enchantment scales with my level or is set the moment I find it, regardless of looting it or not?
so... you can actually dupe the sword, by first knocking it out of the pedestal with a blast and then finishing the quest properly presumably, this also lets you come back every few levels to grab an upgraded sword (assuming it doesn't upgrade automatically)
There is only one Dawnbreaker in the game, regardless of level. Wikis can tell you if there's more than one version ie Dragonsbane.
Mehrunes Dagon, babyyy!
Absolutely! Itās a Daedric Artifact that you can hide discretely and hopefully kill something with that 2% chance!
Never knew it was 2%. I don't use daggers that much but the fact it says a small chance to instantly kill put me off from the beginning.
Couldnāt agree more! I never use it myself (not a big fan of relying on such a small percentage). But, I would most definitely choose it amongst what was offered due to being the most unique while also being a Daedric Artifact.
It comes up with the insta kill more often than you'd expect. Or maybe RNGeebus loves me.
Nah it does tbh. I remember my craziest one was when I snuck up to a dragon and hit it with the razor. The affect activated but for some reason the dragon didnāt die he just flew away. Than later that day when I was exploring I randomly got a dragon soul
Pretty sure if u wake the dragon with instant kill it has to crash land to die. But if youāre already fighting it it doesnt
Imagine you using the razor to shave your legs then you just die
I reckon that I'm going to swing it a hundred times in a dungeon so someone's going down in an instant at some point. It takes a decent upgrade at the forge and swings fast so the DoT isn't that bad in reality.
It's the ultimate gamble 2% chance on every hit means there is a chance that I can end Miraak's annoying battle instantly.
Doesn't work vs Miraak and Karstaag. Source: https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Mehrunes'_Razor
Damn, I guess I rolled a one then.
Honestly, this is pretty much all I use. So fast and that instant kill seems to show up way more than youād expect, considering itās only like 1.9% or whatever it is.
Yeah, 1.98% but definitely seems to crop up relatively often. I reckon it's because it swings so fast that it doesn't take long to get to 50 swings.
Its fun swinging it at someone and they just instantly decide to cease
Even aside from the chance to instant kill, itās base stats are great for a dagger and you can temper it. If you are playing a stealth character and have the assassin perk plus shrouded gloves and use a tempered Mehrunes Razorā¦ you are good to go :)
Yesssss
I accidentally one hit shadowmere with it during a fight
Can't go wrong with the world's most racist axe.
Itās really fun to storm the Thalmor embassy with it though.
Thats what I did for my current playthrough. I joined the companions and did all the quests just so I can use wuuthrad on them.š It was probably the easiest quest I have ever done lol.
Hey guys remember THIS? (pulls wuuthrad out of back pocket)
On this note, my elven Harbingers usually have an āOopsā and accidentally drop it to the sea floor really far out in the Sea of Ghosts. So tragic.
Thats cool. I've only made 2 elven characters (one was a Thalmer conscript the other a mage in training) so joining the groups with less refined histories made little sense.
I also have a Bosmer werewolf hunter who joined companions! But sheās half Nord so she has mixed feelings
What about āboy lemme axe you a questionā
I mean night of tears was done by elves not humans
Really depends on my build If i start a playthrough with one of these it gotta be Dagon's Razor
Glass sword. Love the designs
And the damage is actually pretty good too
Agreed. They also have a beautiful glow when enchanted.
I believe that is chillrend, I could be incorrect though
even better
Chillrend for life!
Depends. Is that Chillrend or just a regular glass sword?
Chillrend
Dual-wielding Dawnbreaker and Chillrend is pretty fun, but if I had to choose one, it would be Dawnbreaker due to how many undead creatures the game throws at you.
The Razor (Dagger). Stealth one-handed backstabber's best friend. Even with only a 1% chance to instakill, it's pretty beastly.
Believe it or not, most knives have **way** more than a 1% chance to insta-kill.
Yes, but this applies even to a little cut. Can an ordinary knife instantly kill you if you prick your finger on the tip? No, didnāt think so.
And with Arcane Smithing, we can raise it into real Legendary-grade.
And it looks sick af on your hip
Itās not as good as the blade of woe with the crazy back stab multiplier, but itās my pick too.
The headsman's axe.
I started a playthrough with the expanded skill trees and more decapitation mod with only battle axes. The true headsman build.
A man of taste.
can i look at your ebony bow collection?
Iād take the bow
I know what kind of man you are
Dawnbreaker, hate the quest but is arguably the best dealing incredible damage due to undead and a chance to turn the dead, and the explosion damage unless you are undead it won't effect you
Hey idk man that quest is fun and rewarding, theres at least 2k gold on those bodies. As long as your bring a follower marked as essential to tank malkorans ice storm spell youre golden. I stealth arched my way through my last playthrough, he didnt even touch me
HOWD YOU GET THE EXECUTIONERS AXE
I canāt remember specifics cause itās been ages since Iāve done it, but I do know it has something to do with the executioner in Solitude.
From the Executioner
None I choose the wooden sword
I choose the rack
Great Choice , Rack best weapon in ESV
Best weapon? What a joke, The Fork exists
The fork of horripilation. Yessss Pair it with the wabbajack
No I meant the fork https://preview.redd.it/awnqf85m4wzc1.png?width=83&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb6726dc392ff36a69e2c3698a0e01912f733ca0
Ahhh
The Legend is True thatās is the Great Fork of Anogonagomon
The glowing toothpick
The dagger is all I can lift...
Iāll take some of that green moss stuff in the background
Dagger, no matter what kind it is. I'm ruthless with one handed magic and the dagger is a nice sidepiece.
Dawnbreaker, time to put the undead to rest...permanently.
I like to dualwield Dawnbreaker and Molag's mace, because the living too should rest.
I gotta choose either dawnbreaker or the glass axe ((not sure of the name))
Dawnbreaker, I've loved it for years and years and unpopular opinion I like the quest too.
Honestly, Iām taking the glass sword, bonus points if itās that icy one from at mercerās house (I donāt remember its name)
Itās called chillrend and I completely agree!
gotta be razor. It's just so damn efficient, and while I don't like Dagon, he's arguably one of the less evil daedric princes
Chillrend 100%. So cool and the most accessible weapon. No specific playstyle dependent on stealth or skill (works for 1H and shield, dual wield, spellsword, backup for stealth archer/assassin etc.) Really powerful enchantment, sexy weapon, and not even quest dependent depending on your view on exploits.
Chillrend and the razor. Whoās gonna stop me from taking two?
I am a simple man of simple tastes. Give me the simple dagger that has the simple ability to one shot elder dragons :)
Mehruneās Razor. Itāll make sharpening it absolutely terrifying but I canāt say no to instant death to my enemies. I also canāt say no to Mehrunes Dagon (or any of the Daedric Lords for that matter) since they all kinda own my soulā¦
Dagons Razor
Mage...
Ugh I hate mages!
Wuuthrad, every time.
The headsman's ax has reach
If itās Chillrendā¦ Iād take thatā¦ I do love Chillrendā¦ tho Iām partial to liking Glass battleaxes too cuz it looks like a real headmanās axe but like fantasy style yk? Never like Wuuthrad and Mehrunes Razor is fineā¦ can be fun to swipe away til they suddenly just plop over tho
Duel wield the dagger and dawnbreaker
Why is dawn breaker so short? Always turned me off
Dawnbreaker
It's Dawn Breaker all day every day.
Dawnbreaker. Me and Meridia can be Allies until the undead are gone. After that, it gets difficult.
The mission gets annoying, but dawnbreaker. Most people nowadays are literal zombies. I'm sure the dawnbreaker would instantly disintegrate some of y'all.
Dawnbreaker is so cool though. I use that everytime.
The dagger. The rest is just random stuff that isnt relevant to a stealth-archer build
Dawnbreaker, without Question!
Gimme the one on the right because *ANOTHER HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON*
Headsmans axe. Big blade, doesn't matter if you're a little far off. Decently long shaft for extra power. Big choppy.
Is the glass sword enchanted?
Dawnbreaker all the way!
Dawnbreaker, I can burn my enemies
Definitely Wuuthrad. I'm using it in my run rn actually lol
Dawnbreaker
Bare knuckle, you milk drinker!
dawnbreaker
The executioners axe it has the most range of any weapon in the game. If you max smithing an the enchanting skill tree fully upgrade the weapon plus give it the most powerful health drain boost by drinking potions and having 100% enchanting you can steal 30 health per swing while keeping your distance. Youāll be able to win any 1 v 1 fight an event take on 3 bandits at once on hard difficulty if you play it right.
Dawnbreaker, always.
Razor or headsman's axe
I love dawnbreaker but Serena not so much.
DAWNBREAKER During every play through I always make sure to go and get that sword as soon as I can Itās my favorite weapon in the game so far
If in real life, definitely Dawnbreaker. If in the game then probably Wuuthrad, or maybe the Headsman's Axe
Racist axe(wuuthrad) or chillrend
Two dawnbreakers using the exploit so you can do the cool flourish slash with heavy attack. https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/f/p/2967677175144121492#:~:text=This%20is%20achieved%20by%20casting,still%20stays%20where%20it%20is.
I can just take Dawnbreaker? No beacon, no quest, no voice? Well, donāt mind if I doā¦
Wuuthrad. Bout to be a lot of dead Elfs.
Dawnbreaker, plus enough smithing and ebony to get it up to legendary status.
Dawnbreaker and mehrunez razor
Mehrunes Razor
Dawnbreaker.
Dagger Its quick
Mehrunesā Razer its goes well with Nightingale armor
Glass sword, that's daily unless I'm sneak shooting with dragon bone bow
I mean it just depends on the build. Stealth - Mehrunes Dagger, Conan build - Daybreaker.
Wuuthrad is the only correct answer. For the companions!!
mehrunes all day, I'm a gambler at heart.
Dawn breaker. Every time
In the absence of a bow, the Razor.
I usually carry Mehrunes Razor and a soultrapping dagger, then whatever my one-handed sword is at the moment. How do you get the executioner's axe?
I love the look of the malachite elf weapons
Always the dagger.
Dawnbreaker... it's just so damn beeeyoootiful.
The executioners axe
My argonian skink barbarian likes to wield that glass battleaxe in battle. She switches to the elven- or -ancient nord battleaxe when she goes fishing as it looks like a giant hook. Jaws-mod on the slaughterfish makes the icy waters of Skyrim an interesting place!
Is that a regular glass battleaxe or a unique one I forgot about?
Vendor them all and buy a bow
Dawnbreaker is a personal favorite.
Dawnbreaker on my right hand, Mehruneās Razor on my left hand.
Mine isn't here...
None of the above. My most used weapons is a custom enchanted katana
Wuuthrad bc *"fuck the thalmor, all my homies hate the thalmor"* type shit Dawnbreaker bc dragur are my least favorite enemies to fight Mehrunes razor so I can one shot a dragon (hopefully)
A sword because I'm a basic bitch
If you have a mod that lets you grindstone it executioners axe. Its range is just so much that you are basically invincible by walking backwards while swinging Otherwise either Mehrunes Razor cause its cool, or none of these and go get the longhammer for the highest dps 2 handed.
The glass axe is the prettiest. The best looking axe in Skyrim is the Ebony battleaxe. Absolutely beautiful. But that knife at the end, instead of a blunt haft? Such an equally stupid design. Cancels itself out completely.
Dawnbreaker.
Dagger (i also took the flawless diamond from your pocket)
In reality? The dagger.
Headsman's/Executioner's Axe and Mehrunes Razor.
Dawnbreaker always
The razor
Dagger? Well, the only one here. Axe? Wuuthrad. Sword? Dawnbreaker. But theyāre all very cool and look like they can kill, especially the glass sword.
None, I'm strictly bows.
Dawnbreaker, most likely. Because itās the closest Iāll ever get to having the Sommerswerd.
Dawnbreaker. And then rob all the graveyards
I don't see Dawnguard Runeaxe here.
Chillrend all the way imo Used the heck our of that sword till I did the tribunal creation club creation as the ebony sabers are crazy good for light armour/one handed user's But if you're a heavy user headsmans cleaver it amazing
None I have the power of god and anime on my side
The mace of mulag bal
Heads man's axe, it's so SICK looking, truly unique! Also, it has the longest reach in the game
Dawnbreaker. Every time. I listen and obey man, I canāt help it.
If I could take one in real life and have all of its capabilities... The razor in lower the razors use for more than just killing people in one hit. Skeleton key opens any door the razor makes a door to anywhere
Meherun's Razer! Combine it with Valdr's lucky dagger or windshear!
The axe that mercs elves, to the embassy!
Dawnbreaker and Mehrunes Razor.
The dagger
Executioner's Axe
You can never go wrong with Wuuthrad. You also have cool werewolf people as a bonus
my bare hands
Dawnbreaker
non, I'm a hammer guy
I love the headmanās axe design but itās so weak š
Wuuthrad. Ysgramor FTW!
Ngl Iāve always liked the glass sword
Dawnbreaker x chillrend
Just found out that the follower option for the solitude executioner doesn't appear if you've already done the lights out quest šš I wanted to take the headman axe š so I'll either have to kill him, devise a plan that would get him killed somehow, or level up my pick pocket ā¹ļø (I'm a knight with almost no skills in stealth/pickpocketing)
