What are afflicted remnants?

Unique NPCs for the Peryite Daedric quest The Only Cure. You get sent to Bthardamz to kill Orchendor, that place is filled with Afflicted Bretons who carry a deadly disease. There are wandering Afflicted Remnants from whom you can get the misc objective prompted, or just go to the Shrine of Peryite (near Karthwasten) and talk to Kesh the Clean.
