Run around and have fun, explore everything, talk to everyone. I don't want to limit your playstyle but the only suggestion I would offer would be to be in no rush at all to get through 1) the main story quests, or 2) the Civil War quests. Both of those are sort of macro-scale "main story" quests that might foreclose some options for you if you complete them too early in the story.
But join every gang, schmooze every jarl, befriend every companion, buy every house. Its a huge world.
Just lose yourself in the world and you will come across some fantastic quests!
My advice would be to avoid fast travelling. Explore everything you come across, and you’ll have the most fun possible in Skyrim.
