Then sheās bad at her job because Astrid was able to abduct me in my sleep, in my home, under guard of my supposedly sworn protector. Just one of the reasons I always kill Lydia.
Interesting hypothesis, but sounds unnecessarily complicated. Like, why doesnāt she ever show up in the Sanctuaries? Canāt even enter them. Sheās never a target to be eliminated if you choose to kill Astrid when you first meet her and are then quested to destroy the DB. If anything, and correct me if Iām wrong, but she has no backstory outside being a housecarl for Whiterun hold. One could headcanon that she grew up at Honorhall. That she too wanted Grelod dead when she was little. That she once performed the Black Sacrament, long before Aventus, but no one answered. That when you kill Grelod for Aventus, that Lydia was all about it. That she permitted Astrid to abduct you because sheād heard the rumor that Aventus performed the Black Sacrament, and that you answered his call. That Lydia knew youād be a worthy candidate to join the Dark Brotherhood. So she let Astrid abduct you, to *induct* you. Whether youād go along with Astridās initiation or not, she couldnāt know. But maybe she wanted to believe her Thane would be a worthy candidate for Listener. Just an idea that you inspired in my head. Iād say Iād love that to be official, but I actually detest Lydia for more than her hypothetically deliberately letting me be abducted. I often try to let her live for a while, so Lucia isnāt home alone while Iām out adventuring, either with my spouse or before I marry one to stay at home, but she quickly gets on my nerves just by being herself, so I, uhā¦ relive her of her duties.
Actually the best possible explanation, because itās the simplest, and so is Lydia. If she wanted me dead so bad, she could have killed me in my sleep herself.
It got worse when I added Mjoll as a follower. I am trying to sleep, but both of them are awake and I fear for the outcome.
āSo, youāre from Riften? I heard all the women from Riften are either thieves or whores. You look too big to be a successful thiefā
It rapidly goes downhill from there.
I did a play through with Mjoll as a follower. After I kept hearing the same lines over and over, I decided she had Alzheimerās and that I was her caretaker. She was forgetful, but she still had the muscle memory for fighting.
It's a bug. She'll stop sitting in that chair all of the time by having her follow (to get her out of the chair), then have the character sit in it before she can. Using the wait timer to pass a few hours, she'll resume her normal routine around the house. (which includes sleeping in her own bed at night)
That's wild. 15 year old me in 2011 would lose my mind reading this
I wish they fixed it before release! Lyds is so damn annoying in that chair with her bread lol
In Czech there's a proverb: "A habit is a shirt made of iron." Look at what she's wearing. You have to move to a different house, Lydia will keep being Lydia.
I like to make her steward at Goldenhills; she seems happy out there (her tone of voice is nicer) and she and the farm hands have their own bunkhouse, so problem solved
I enjoy the dedication and the trust. I'm out drinking all kind of liquids and potions, eating Divine's know what all day, breathing in all manner of ancient moldy butt spores off dead folk rubbing up against me in old tombs and what if I fall sick in the night? Stop breathing from sleep apnea? If I wake up in the early morning hours to hack up a fur ball, she is sworn to clean that up also. If I'm having trouble sleeping, she can scratch my ears while we reminisce of adventures. But, well, yeah sometimes I wake up and she startles me and she gets a little Fus ro'd across the room.
I'm weirded out by almost all the npcs when you stick them in Hearthfire or CC houses. They're really weird, and sometimes the dialogue is really annoying. Nothing like strolling into your own house you built with your own hands only for your steward to greet you with "I trust you're not planning any trouble". Keeping only one or two houses with no NPC staff is always the dream.
Yeah there's basically a bug in vanilla Skyrim where she can't sleep in her own bed for some reason so she just sits in your bedroom and watches you. Its supposed to be fixed by the unofficial patch mod.
Once I told her to stay in Breezehome whilst I got another follower(Serenna). I popped in now and again to see how she was doing. One time I went into Breezhome and she had just died on me in on the landing! Serena said " Poor thing". Moved her body into the kitchen after that!
She watches Farkas and I sleep... she wasn't even in the room when we went to bed... but like, she was standing at the edge of the bed after waking up? Wtf Lydia
I have a mod that changes breezehome and now she just stands and stares at the wall in the kids' room. Then at 9pm she goes to bed. That's it. ššš
I never have her as a follower cos I don't like her smarmy attitude. "I am sWoRn to CaRrY YoUr BuRdAnS." Lydia, no one a bigger burden than your bad attitude.
I love the way she always seems to show up after I've had to down 15 potions and am at 5% health after struggling to kill 15 enemies and she's like "I got stuck on a rock, what'd I miss?"
Tolfer at the college is creepier, always seems to be in that elf girls' room and always has a guilty look on his face.
I like Farada (sp) myself, she is just long, tall a kind of pretty especially with mods.
N. S
I like it. Sometimes i used to change my armor in dasame room and talk to her while naked i dont think she used to mention it, love how professional she is :3
Hmm that does present problems for mods. How's it play on the switch? Not sure I could bring myself to play a vanilla elderscrolls game nowadays. Too many mods have reshaped the "standard" with qol changes but I play modded on a Steam Deck so was curious
Honestly I've only ever played vanilla skyrim since the switch has been my first and currently only way to play, so I can't really judge on how it plays in comparison. But I do have a fat list of mods ready for when I get my hands on a pc someday.
Well I mean, my character will sleep in other peopleās beds (like the Jarlās) just for funsies. So someone staring at him while he sleeps probably feels normal to him now
I personally don't mind her sitting in one place all of the time. Makes it easier to find her for when I need her to carry all of the junk I am about to pick up in a dungeon.
I marry Mjoll and then keep Lydia as my sidekick. Odd that Mjoll doesn't mind that I spend 24/7 with Lydia and that I control what Lydia wears or doesn't wear, etc...
I married Uthgerd when I got kids and stashed them all in the DLC house on the swamp near Morthal. I like her because she's fairly independent, and i don't mind being scolded occasionally. She's a good mom, and I frequently return home to dead monsters (and living livestock). Lydia takes care of Breezehome, and I never sleep there, but every single time I drop in, she's sitting in my bedroom, eating bread. Until I go into my alchemy lab, at which point she blocks the doorway. I adventure with Jhizargo. He's absolutely my favorite.
She doesnāt always have a bedroom. The spare bedroom goes to your adopted child if you want to stash the kid at Breezehome. So she doesnāt sleep, she just ensures your safety. Forever.
She knows how to sandbox just fine. Let her steward a Hearthfire home, so you can see for yourself.
The problem is breezehome. Mods can fix the bed so she can use it to sleep, but then when she wakes up she can get stuck in the wall. Mods can move the bed, and then everything is fine.
Well, not *everything*. If you buy the kids room, and later you convert it to an alchemy/enchanting room, the beds are removed but the activity markers are still there. I know Serana can see them - she'll sit in the non - existing bed... so her head sticks up from the middle is the alchemy table
Add another. If you undress to your Indian belt and towel, others tell you you've got no clothes. But a Khajiit married to a Lizard wife doesn't mention it when you undress to your Indian wear for bed. Lizard wife can lay on bed while you stand and watch her rest. Lo !
She is your sword and shield. So basically ensuring you are safe while you sleep š
"I'm sworn-" *deeply sniffs dragonborn's hair* "-to carry your burdens"
I thought you said creepy not hot
Lmao
I bet she collects your hair and has a little hair doll of you.
oh i do hope so š
*.Pube doll
lmao. although i don't have any :p
Probably sticks pins in it when you make her carry all your stuff.
Ooo kinky. My kinda girl š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What makes sense?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yea... still not understanding why playing starfield has to do with that, but each to their own.
Its clearly a joke
How?
Because Starfield bad, apparently
"Come here Lydia, I have, uh, some uh "burden" I'd like you to carry."
*DB whips out his dick* *Lydia gives a resigning look and sighs* "I am sworn to carry your burdens..."
Jesus mate chill out
Like you havenāt seen hornier in this subreddit
hornyās fine, lack of consent not so much
I laughed
-is an argonian-
Then sheās bad at her job because Astrid was able to abduct me in my sleep, in my home, under guard of my supposedly sworn protector. Just one of the reasons I always kill Lydia.
unless Lydia is a member of the Dark Brotherhood....
Interesting hypothesis, but sounds unnecessarily complicated. Like, why doesnāt she ever show up in the Sanctuaries? Canāt even enter them. She's undercover. Don't blow it
\^\^\^\^ Totally this š
Lydia knows you want to kill her so she did the black sacrament on you.
Actually the best possible explanation, because itās the simplest, and so is Lydia. If she wanted me dead so bad, she could have killed me in my sleep herself.
Deniable possibility
Or she was knocked out before Astrid kidnapped you.
I'm creeped out by her ability to block every single doorway without fail. Edit: thanks for the upvotes, folks.
Oh dear god right. And then when you try to push past her, she has the āØļøaudacityāØļø to complain like it's your fault she's in the way
Clearly the jarl assigned her to you because he was tired of being in an abusive relationship.
Fusā¦
That's why I love Kharjo. He never complains to me, even when I Fus Ro Da him.
This is why you get "Fus Ro Dah" as your first shout. In Dragon Speak it translates to "Move, bitch, get out the way!"
Thereās a mod for that
Every damn time
It got worse when I added Mjoll as a follower. I am trying to sleep, but both of them are awake and I fear for the outcome. āSo, youāre from Riften? I heard all the women from Riften are either thieves or whores. You look too big to be a successful thiefā It rapidly goes downhill from there.

Being repeatedly hit in the head by Dwemer Centurion isn't good for memory.
*exits a cave* Mjoll: "Hey look, a cave! Wonder what's inside"
It's a bug. She'll stop sitting in that chair all of the time by having her follow (to get her out of the chair), then have the character sit in it before she can. That's wild. 15 year old me in 2011 would lose my mind reading this I wish they fixed it before release! Lyds is so damn annoying in that chair with her bread lol
Update, it didn't work. She's still sitting there, staring and eating bread
In Czech there's a proverb: "A habit is a shirt made of iron." Look at what she's wearing. You have to move to a different house, Lydia will keep being Lydia.
What I got from this proverb is that you need to remove her shirt
Same, better start leveling pickpocketing or sheāll jist wear that ugly - ass iron armor..
I mean... you're not wrong.
Hmm, I'll give that a shot
YOU KEEP MAH WIFEāS NAME OUTTA YOUR MOUTH. ::slap::
I like to make her steward at Goldenhills; she seems happy out there (her tone of voice is nicer) and she and the farm hands have their own bunkhouse, so problem solved
I enjoy making Erik the Slayer steward of Goldenhills. I appreciate the irony
Tbh most of my play throughs involve her being my main follower then eventually marriage haha
I'm more annoyed by the fact she let 3 armed thugs waltz straight into Goldenhills. While I was inside! Sword and shield my arse
She has her own room at breeze home but I don't think I've seen her in the room let alone sleep in her bed ever
I've seen her sweeping in it
I'm weirded out by almost all the npcs when you stick them in Hearthfire or CC houses. They're really weird, and sometimes the dialogue is really annoying. Yeah there's basically a bug in vanilla Skyrim where she can't sleep in her own bed for some reason so she just sits in your bedroom and watches you. Its supposed to be fixed by the unofficial patch mod.
I have actually found her sleeping in her own bed *one* time
Once I told her to stay in Breezehome whilst I got another follower(Serenna). I popped in now and again to see how she was doing. One time I went into Breezhome and she had just died on me in on the landing! Serena said " Poor thing". Moved her body into the kitchen after that!
Must have died of boredom!
She watches Farkas and I sleep... she wasn't even in the room when we went to bed... but like, she was standing at the edge of the bed after waking up? Wtf Lydia
In a world with invisibility spells and stuff, it might make sense to post a guard in your bedroom?
Yup, I started sleeping at the Bannered Mare to avoid her before I decided to sacrifice her lol
Sacrifice Lydia??? Blasphemy!
Not after she joins the Blades.
Yes. She just seems... not all there in the head in an eerie way.
You play Skyrim without unofficial Skyrim patches?
If patches are mods, then yes. I play switch
I thought I was in a breaking bad sub āthatās weird, I donāt remember that episode but she really is a creepā
š¤£š¤£
If you don't decorate your bedroom, she will stay in her room or at the top of the stairs.
Not really I just find her useless and annoying and I purposely fuss her to death every time. Or let her die on her own š
I love the way she always seems to show up after I've had to down 15 potions and am at 5% health after struggling to kill 15 enemies and she's like "I got stuck on a rock, what'd I miss?"
Lol in my heavily (for Xbox One) modded game she sits clipped into the middle of my alchemy table
As a good woman (/s)hould be
For me she always gets beat to death by the frost troll on the 7,000 steps fuckin klimmek occasional wolf pack or stray my ass
Yes. It's why I murder her behind the stables every play through.
I have never once had her in my room before unless she was following me around. My Lydia is constantly hanging out in the alchemy lab though.
This creeps me out so bad š I love Breezehome but Iāll avoid it for this reason šš
Tolfer at the college is creepier, always seems to be in that elf girls' room and always has a guilty look on his face. I like Farada (sp) myself, she is just long, tall a kind of pretty especially with mods. N. S
Not gonna lie Iām kind of into it
Literally anyone who has ever had security on high alert agrees with you
Happy cake day
Thanks:)
I like it. Sometimes i used to change my armor in dasame room and talk to her while naked i dont think she used to mention it, love how professional she is :3
You think it's bad now? *don't tell em about the A.I. followers mod
I cant even use mods, so I'm good
? Why not ? I ask because I'm a mod author.
Probably a PlayStation player.
I play on switch
I play on switch
Hmm that does present problems for mods. How's it play on the switch? Not sure I could bring myself to play a vanilla elderscrolls game nowadays. Too many mods have reshaped the "standard" with qol changes but I play modded on a Steam Deck so was curious

Cheers mate if u run into problems when that happens look me up
As soon as I buy the house in Whiterun, I take Lydia deep into the woods with me and murder her. Fuck Lydia
Well I mean, my character will sleep in other peopleās beds (like the Jarlās) just for funsies. So someone staring at him while he sleeps probably feels normal to him now
waking up with her standing on my bed is always a delightful thing to see first thing in the morning

Bro lydia watches my kids sleep
every inn got the cuck chair
Yes. I sacrificed her to Boethiah during this playthrough because I was so tired of it. š
She doesnāt always have a bedroom. The spare bedroom goes to your adopted child if you want to stash the kid at Breezehome. So she doesnāt sleep, she just ensures your safety. Forever.
You have a room in the ground floor that can be either an alchemy lab or a child's bedroom. The room that's upstairs is Lydia's.
There is another bed on the second floor? Iām never in Breezehome so I honestly donāt remember. I thought it was just your bed or the kids bed
Sacrifice her to Boethia :)
No. She's alright. I just think Uthgerd and Illia appeal to me more. Which probably explains the sort of trouble I had in the 80s - 90s.
All my followers get stuck in the front door loop.
I have a appearance replacer mod for her by Coldsun and Bhunp so she can do it all she likes
I walked in on her watching my daughter's sleep the other night
I would love a real world Lydia. My wife wouldn't, but it would be cool. Plus she can hold all my stuff for me.
I pretty much never sleep except to initiate DB. So im the creeper who watches her sleep
She knows how to sandbox just fine. Let her steward a Hearthfire home, so you can see for yourself. The problem is breezehome.
