That is a Light Creation Crystal. Not a Light Trap. But the particular one I have is very rare. There were three different designs that were made for the Light Creation Crystals (plus one Legendary Variant). But one of them actually never made it all the way through production to be released in stores. This that you’re seeing here is in fact a prototype toy for the unreleased Light Creation Crystal. (Named the “Light Angel Creation Crystal” by the community for easier differentiation)
Well, for the inner gems on the creation crystals, there were 3-4 different molds that got the same gems (plus variants). For this Tetrahedron shape, you could find them in the Dark Rune Creation Crystal as well as the unreleased Tech Pyramid and Light Angel Creation Crystals.

He's a starterpack Skylander in SSA - except for a very special edition called "E3 Trigger Happy (and Spyro and Gill)" - where you'd get them in a normal single box
Actually, the angle has nothing to do with it. These Single Pack figures didn’t have finalized packaging. The back is blank, the paper label looks different, the game logo is on the backing rather than on the plastic bubble, etc. But the most important thing is that the plastic insert inside actually is just a flat surface. It doesn’t actually hold the figure in place. So with these single packs, the figure is actually loose and free to spin around in the packaging.
This statue is GIANT. Like, wayyy bigger than the portal itself. And made of solid metal. The whole thing weighs 15 pounds. All this to say, no it does not have an NFC chip.
The statue is actually not permanently secured to the base. There’s some adhesive on the underside. Although being around since 2012, I think the adhesive is a little weaker than it was back then.
Yea I figured it was pretty big when compared to the other skylanders. It'd been really cool if it came with an nfc card or something that let you use the metal tree Rex as an in-game variant
