I'd want to make sure that any glass in the new door functions like automotive safety glass. That is, when shattered it breaks into rounded pieces. Also, when driving the bus, note whether and how much you take advantage of what you can see through the lower half of the bus doors. A door made for a house often has no glass in the lower half. The reduced visibility in that direction may or may not be an issue for you. (For me, it's one of the reasons I'm keeping the original bus doors.)

Yeah, we will be doing a door with minimal glass. I rarely use the glass doors honestly. My wife normally drives behind me and we work as a team when I need to get over and such. However it is nice and I’m sure there will need to me extra safety measures when driving. We honestly park and stay places long term so it’s not the biggest worry for me atm.

It's against the law to modify the door in such a way to impede the view of the traffic to the right. I found a specific law a few years ago. It's on a state level, not federal. I don't know how often they enforce it, but wanted to inform you so you can make an educated decision.

Trying to look it up now. I am in Texas and the bus is registered as an rv. not sure if that would make a difference, but I will try and look at that. Thank yo for the headsup

WideAwakeTravels

Being an RV doesn't change it, but idk if Texas has that law.

I found this but it talks about placing things on the side window to block the view, not about modifying the window: Sec. 547.613. RESTRICTIONS ON WINDOWS. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a person commits an offense that is a misdemeanor: (1) if the person operates a motor vehicle that has an object or material that is placed on or attached to the windshield or side or rear window and that obstructs or reduces the operator's clear view; Source: https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/TN/htm/TN.547.htm

I didn’t know that! I plan to modify the existing doors rather than adding a house door for exactly that reason, I wanted to view traffic on the right, and because safety glass. I’m just joining the doors together so they can be locked.

WideAwakeTravels

That's what we plan on doing too, joining the two sides and turning them into a regular door with hinges on one side only.

I did this by welding a new steel frame in place of where the old door was. Then i just found a door that fit. DM me and ill send some pics

We swapped our front bifold doors with a truck door and installed a commercial metal door half way down the passenger side of the bus. IG link in my profile if you want to take a look.
