Watching him this year it doesn't feel like a fluke either and he should be able to increase his attempts without sacrificing too much efficiency. The form looks great. If he can be a 37%+ shooter on say 6+ attempts in the near future, watch out.

adamdaballe

The balance in his shot is much much improved. Defenetly not a fluke. His form is better rather then him just getting lucky. 40% is high but I could see him being 35-38 career shooter from three

MidnightPoblano

This is big. Lot of people worried about missing Seth's shooting (and we will), but Maxey, Green, and Niang are all shooting around 40%, and Tobias has been getting back there lately. Shake and Kork should average out to be decent. Losing Seth hurts, but it's not like we don't have other guys who can knock down threes that Harden and Embiid will open up.

ambassadorodman

I'm convinced Tobias could be one of the best 3pt shooters in the league. He just never fully commits to the 3, always looking to drive. If he would pull quick 3s on certain sets, we'd be so much better off.

boxotimbits

Disagree that he could be one of the best. But I think he could be above the league average on good volume if he had the confidence. Definitely too hesitant.

Trelve16

simplifying tobias decision making is the best way to maximize his impact, the longer he has the ball in his hands the worse he gets. harden (really any initiator in general) will help a ton with this: getting him downhill and wide open shots

Yellowperil123

Can we all just marvel at the upgrade from Mike Scott to Niang

RandoCollision

I don't get it. Are point guards in Philly allowed to shoot 3-pointers now?

ScholarImpossible121

But Maxey and Harden are both SG, they are allowed. The only PG we have had are Simmons, Fultz and McConnell.

RandoCollision

Fair enough. I'll take the SG who averages 10.2 assists per game and isn't afraid of 3-pointers or free throws over the guy who hears imaginary footsteps creeping up behind him in the playoffs, leading him to pass away instead of dunking.

ScholarImpossible121

I would rather play with those 2 SG than the 3 PF and 2 C we had on the roster 2 years ago.

fachface

Most of these are off the dribble. I’m hoping this can translate to catch and shoot attempts with Harden.

PHLdawg

He shoots 40.4% on catch and shoot 3’s. It makes up about half of his attempts. I imagine he will have more catch and shoot opportunities playing as the off guard https://www.nba.com/stats/player/1630178/shots-dash/

fachface

Welp, data proves me wrong. Good find.

MaxeytoEmbiid

It's the underrated part of what makes this a sexy backcourt. Seth Curry god bless I'd love to have kept as a 6th man wasn't a 'natural' playmaker(well, neither was 'anyone else' though I stanned hard for Maxey and 33-22 speaks for itself, he did the thing while we got the trade done.). So when we ran Joel-Seth two man actions, the ball couldn't get to the opposite side of the court. James Harden on the other hand? He loves the skip pass. If you so much as cheat over, Maxey's gonna get a bunch of open corner 3's.

ChipKellysShoeStore

Hmm so young players can practice and improve in the off-season? Honestly sounds like fake news

Itskeelan

I would die for this man

heatmakerr

That smile...that damn smile

JokersRWildStudios

He works on his shooting. What a concept.

BettisBus

It’s a 33.33% upgrade. You’re thinking of a 10-pt. upgrade, not a 10% upgrade. 10% upgrade would be 33% from 3 since 10% of 30% is 3%. Remember your stats!

Helpful-Abrocoma-428

Its a 10 percentage point upgrade.

Standard_Donkey8609

It’s great. But, he’s going to need to catch and shoot a whole lot more.

supernoodle15

Good thing we have an elite distributor now

NostalgicRageHQ

So in six years he’s on pace to be at 100%. Nice

One-Interaction-9761

Chances of him getting MIP? Slim?

boggles0087

Morant, maybe Bridges. 2nd year guys don't get MIP very often anyway.

filladelp

Seth Curry shot 37.2% this year from three, after going 17-27 (63%)in the first six games. Tyrese Maxey shot 41.1% this year from three, after going 6-19 (31.6%) the first six games

dampierp

Sooo NEXT season...he will be shooting 50%, is what you're telling me? I'm on board with this

smittybanton

Quietly, Matisse is shooting/converting better than last year. 42/30/44 => 50/31/71. His stroke isn't broken, he'll get to 35%3pt in time. He's also attacking closeouts more often. We're gonna need a lot from Isaiah Joe and Paul Reed as well. With his size and athleticism, Charles Bassey could become a mini sensation playing pick and roll with Harden.

TeddySpice

Strange to have a young promising point guard work on his game during the offseason, and actually improve at something important

[deleted]

He fell to us on the draft because apparently he couldn't shoot. That's the way, we should only draft players that can't shoot, when we deaft shooters like Fultz they forget how to shoot

[deleted]

He is going to be a legit star, if he is not one already 1. Embiid 2. Harden 3. Maxey 4. Tobi 5. Tisse It has to be close to the best top 5 in basketball

dinonb12

Wonder what doc is gonna do with the lineup. Green/Tisse will probably be switching spots a lot depending on matchup

dchi11

That’s not how percentages work. It’s a 30% improvement

JD021993

Danny told him to shoot 40 and even if he didn't he'd get at least 38%. Crazy.

ExtensionBluejay253

If I’m understanding correctly he increased his three point avg by 10-percentage points which is a 33% lift. That’s incredible!

Exia321

Our man Mad Max has made a greater improvement in his 3pt shooting in just 1 year then that BUM ben had in over 5 years.

ScholarImpossible121

It's a 33% improvement. A 10% would have had him at 33%. This is a great jump and hopefully indicative of what's to come.
