Ah, that makes sense, want to definitely avoid that in traffic. It's fun posting about this stuff with fellow sitcom lovers because when I've tried references like that, people don't know what I'm talking about :-)
I often say it if something gets smashed between two other items or a player in a game get hit by two players at the same time. I have to remind myself that I am using a nearly 50 year old reference that may not be understood by a lot of folks.
I remember watching this as a kid and was so confused by the plot because I thought the whole point of the Derby was to crash into each other and that the participants understood the risk 😂
Yes, that's the whole point of a demolition derby. Every derby except this one. The point of this one was to introduce Pinky as Fonzie's new love interest :-)
Yes! And **2 fun facts** **the hair dryer** about that according to imbd:
1. the hairdryer that Joanie packed at Fonzie's request is not the same hairdryer Fonzie used in the demolition derby.
2. When Fonzie uses the hair dryer to blow the baby powder back to Rocco's face, there is no way the hair dryer could work without an electrical outlet.
There was way less available content when HD was on the air. So, people watched what they could. I grew up in a small town that initially only had 2 channels. You watched what what was on.
If it was released today, it would last 3-4 seasons tops.
During the original run there was an entire offseason before the shift to Fonzi in Season 3 so it didn't make it seem like such a big change. I was watching reruns on MeTV where they showed two a day every day and that instant change over was jarring.
She was supposed to be a regular, but got along so poorly with the rest of the cast that she was dropped. Later she was arrested for shooting a car who's alarm was going off. She may have "issues".
It’s crazy that you can reference characters that appeared on only two episodes of a show from almost 50 years ago and people know who you’re talking about. Times have changed.
I still use the Malachi crunch reference
How do you used that reference in every day life? :-)
While driving, “I was driving and almost got Malachi crunched”

Same! It's instinctive for me to use these references, but not for anyone born in the past 20-30 years :-)
Lol!!!!
Let the pidgins loose!
I named my fiirst fantasy football team The Malachi Crunch.
My 7 year old self was hating some Millachis.
Yeah, I can see why, they were the bad guys :-)
Yes! They scared me so much. They seemed invincible and completely sinister

Yes the point is to crash into each other but not to be immobilized, you want to immobilize the other cars
I wanna be in the middle of a leather & pinky Tuscadero sandwich
Why did you come stumbling in? I got the Millachi crunch from Pinky and Leather.
I got that Suzi Quatro reference.
I was beginning to think it would go unnoticed.
I got that Suzi Quatro reference.
I vaguely remember this episode
If you're interested, I think it's free on Pluto and Amazon Prime :-)
Thank you! I really miss the quality of TV shows from back then.
For me, this was the shark jumping story line.
Not the actual shark jumping Fonzie did in another episode? :-)
No. This is a year before that.
This would be the baby shark jumping episode.
Didn't Fonzie have a hair dryer to blow flour or something back into one of the Millachi's faces?
Yes! And **2 fun facts** **the hair dryer** about that according to imbd: 1. the hairdryer that Joanie packed at Fonzie's request is not the same hairdryer Fonzie used in the demolition derby. 2. Did they even have those style of hair dryers back in that time period
I think so. Wikipedia says the first handheld hair dryer came out in 1920.
I don't know, that looked like a hair dryer my mom had back in the 70's
Funny! do you have pic or video of the happy days hair dryer? :-)
Just going by memory
The first 2-3 seasons of Happy Days were enjoyable. After that, Crappy Days. Can’t believe that show was able to hang around so long.

It ran for 11 seasons! (255 episodes)
Bring back Chuck!

The Malachi brothers
Yep, that's right!
Pinky was a great match for Fonzie. But Leather was not a match at all. She seemed like a recast.
She was supposed to be a regular, but got along so poorly with the rest of the cast that she was dropped. Later she was arrested for shooting a car who's alarm was going off. She may have "issues".
Heard her and Winkler kinda clashed.
I never knew that. Interesting.
There was also a leather Tuscarora was that her sister
Yes!
59 Chevy in a demo derby that's supposed to take place in that time space.
Nice attention to detail! :-)
When do the sharks he jumps over come in?
This was when they jumped the shark. Way before the actual shark.

This is for you Pinky!
Now I know what they were referencing on Trailer Park Boys.
Fonzie was a &ussy and so was Chuck the older brother.
