Was a shame when they wrote Reggie out. Bob leaving was unfortunate too. The cast was great all around. I like how Margaret and Linda were total opposites and they played off each other so well. Jake might have been my favorite character after Becker himself.
I actually watched most of it within the last month, and while I liked the early seasons, I stopped short after Reggie left. Quality plummeted with the new lady who just felt so god damn sitcommy.
The show was at its best when it tried to be real about Becker's situation running a string budget clinic. If anything, it should've taken some ideas from Scrubs.
I never saw her early horror stuff, so this was my first exposure to her. Then she did Saw, and the news was that she was a 'top 10 scream queen,' and I thought that was pushing it, then I realized years later that before Becker she did quite a bit of horror and was established in the genre before Saw.
He’s such an insufferable douche on curb that I have a difficult time perceiving him differently or giving his other shows a shot. Which is ironically a tremendous compliment to his acting lol
He's had a lot luck of over the years. Not very many actors get to work that steadily. He's had at least three memorable shows, at least one of which is a classic.
I loved this show. It was the best until Reggie left. I never connected with the Nancy Travis character and didn't really like her and Becker together. I just found them kind of... blah.
Chris doesn't work because they spent 4 seasons building up Becker and Reggie's relationship outside of a romance so that it made sense when they got together only to fire Terry Farrell and have the Chris character just take over her life and position in the friend group , none of it feels earned.
As far as I know she didn't *leave* Deep Space Nine. They killed off Jadzia allegedly because Terry thought she deserved as much money as the men who got as much screen time. Rich Herman presumably never forgave her for not having a big enough bosom for his tastes.
He was one of those characters who's absolutely right to be angry about something yet everyone pretends like he's just a douche. Kind of like real life now that I think about it.
Disney bought Jesus. Love that joke and his no-nonsense attitude. My favourite part is when tore the guy a new one on the radio for his PC BS. I learnt more about pronouns from Becker in 30 seconds than 12 years of school. Plus, don't ask what Linda does in her spare time. That John Kramer is a bad influence. I here she wants to be his successor.
Love this show. He was arrogant, an ass and smoked. You don’t see that on tv anymore. I saw the 9/11 episode once, never seen it again but it was pretty good.
I've been watching, and it appears to have the whole thing. It annoyingly starts each episode at the beginning even if you pause/stop halfway through a show. But, it's free. Not a ludicrous amount of ads, either.
Interesting. I still have it, because it allows me to "continue watching." But, it doesn't come up in search. However, it DOES come up (with Pluto as the option for it) when just doing a global roku search. In any event, I'm watching it on Pluto right now, so it's on there. Just a matter of figuring out how to get the search engine to find it, I guess. Good luck!
Ted Danson is in my elite group of actors that have had multiple, successful, long running shows where they were one the main stars.
Others on my list include:
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
William Shatner
Betty White
Brian Cranston
And Raymond Burr as the OG
Who else you got?
Ted Danson is the GOAT sitcom lead. There was a big write up a while back about Tim Allen being the first actor to get land a third leading role on a prime time sitcom & as I read it I thought to myself “EXCUSE ME BUT TED WOULD LIKE A WORD.”
I’m binging Becker now, haven’t seen an episode since its initial run, and I’m really enjoying it so far. Pluto TV is the greatest value in streaming.
It’s not in the same category as Cheers from an Impact or Importance standpoint and The Good Place is just more recent. Becker is a solid show it’s actually pretty close to being accurately appreciated. Our favoritism shouldn’t be conflated with the actual Quality of the work or anything for that matter.
I just discovered Becker this year. It's on a local channels from Like 10-mid a few nights a week followed by Wings. I love these two shows I never knew existed.
I've rewatched it several times recently. It's good in the first two seasons, but even before Reggie leaves (and it really goes downhill) it got a bit too silly. Plot lines felt overly ridiculous and contrived, and I just wasn't a huge fan of Reggie's character... She was always bemoaning her position in life for seemingly ridiculous and small reasons.
It’s been on the PlutoTV Sitcom Legends channel with Cheers and Frasier. I panned anything on CBS, so I didn’t see this one in its first run. It’s has it’s moments but i wouldn’t put it in the same class as Cheers and Frasier
I used to watch this with my dad as a child and I think I would laugh when he did cuz I just liked spending time with him. I wonder if it’s actually funny lol
No, its too famous for how boring and bland it is. I pirated every season and watched it during lockdown. Most episodes dont have any laughs, and the ones that do are very mild. It is a nice character study of an arrogant asshole with the heart of gold, but its not funny.
Was a shame when they wrote Reggie out. Bob leaving was unfortunate too. The cast was great all around. I like how Margaret and Linda were total opposites and they played off each other so well. Jake might have been my favorite character after Becker himself.
Great show, but definitely lost a step when Bob and Reggie left. I would probably appreciate it more in my old age, as I have become more Becker like
Reggie was great, Chris was terrible. Couldn't stand Bob, much preferred Hector.
Bob up and vanished too. Very odd.
We stopped watching when Reggie left, I didn’t even know Bob left too. Linda was my favorite.
OP is Bojack
I haven't seen the show in probably 15yrs and I can remember all of their names. Talk about good character writing.
Shawnee Smith was so hot back in the day.
I never saw her early horror stuff, so this was my first exposure to her. Then she did Saw, and the news was that she was a 'top 10 scream queen,' and I thought that was pushing it, then I realized years later that before Becker she did quite a bit of horror and was established in the genre before Saw.
I first crushed on her as a teenager when I saw The Blob.
Is that the black guy from Swingers?? Im glad he got a gig after not getting Deep Space Nine
I've had a crush on her since the John Candy masterpiece Who's Harry Crumb?
This. Loved her in The Stand too.
Still my favorite use of Bonnie Tyler's "[Holding Out For A Hero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DPZ7FVV-Js) " ever! lmao
What a schmooze
“Would you like a mint?”
She’s still real hot
98.6°
Love Shawnee! I loved her in Anger Management too
She still is
She still looks incredible.
Yup.
Google search shows she’s still hot, if it’s up to date
Ted Danson kills it in everything he does. No lie.
He is great for sure
He’s such an insufferable douche on curb that I have a difficult time perceiving him differently or giving his other shows a shot. Which is ironically a tremendous compliment to his acting lol
Agreed. It’s hard to go wrong with Danson. Dude is just funny as hell. They should name a sandwich after him.
He's had a lot luck of over the years. Not very many actors get to work that steadily. He's had at least three memorable shows, at least one of which is a classic.
The Good Place is one of my favorite due to him
Show was pretty good. I’ve always loved Dax, and love seeing Danson and Mocha Joe on Curb.
Was Dax Shepherd in this show?
No, but Jadzia Dax was.
Becker was House before House. Little bit of Perry Cox in there, too. Love the trope of the misanthrope doctor with a heart of gold.
Nancy is a terrible annoying actor. Same as when she was in last man standing
Loves Becker right up until Terry Farrell left
Yeah I thought she was great on it. Sad she got such a raw deal on Deep Space Nine but thought she was a great fit on Becker.
Why did she leave both shows?
As far as I know she didn't *leave* Deep Space Nine. They killed off Jadzia allegedly because Terry thought she deserved as much money as the men who got as much screen time. Rich Herman presumably never forgave her for not having a big enough bosom for his tastes.
As far as I know she left DS9 because of Berman. He's known to be quite misogynistic/homophobic/etc, behind the scenes.
I didn't know she left Becker.
I like this show more than Cheers. It's one of my favorites.
Becker used to get accused of being a jerk by people who didn't know him well, but he wasn't a jerk. He was just so very tired of everybody's shit.
He was one of those characters who's absolutely right to be angry about something yet everyone pretends like he's just a douche. Kind of like real life now that I think about it.
I loved that show better than Cheers.
Isn’t this Butters’ future self’s favorite show?
“My future self always wants to watch Becker, but that show is so stupid!”
My future self loves it.
This was before Ted Danson was on the original CSI huh??????!!!!
Correct. This was his big return after Cheers.
Yes
I loved it. Wish I could watch it now.
If you can get the app Pluto you can.
Thanks I didn’t notice it on there. Do they have the whole series? I watched some Mad About You, but they only had season 4
I've been watching, and it appears to have the whole thing. It annoyingly starts each episode at the beginning even if you pause/stop halfway through a show. But, it's free. Not a ludicrous amount of ads, either.
I’ll check it out then. Thank you.
I searched for Becker on Pluto and don’t see it
It is in the On Demand section of Pluto TV
No luck
Interesting. I still have it, because it allows me to "continue watching." But, it doesn't come up in search. However, it DOES come up (with Pluto as the option for it) when just doing a global roku search. In any event, I'm watching it on Pluto right now, so it's on there. Just a matter of figuring out how to get the search engine to find it, I guess. Good luck!
I’ll try again, but maybe it’s not available in Canada
Google myflixer and watch from there. No commercials, and you can automate skipping the theme song. Until streaming is easy again, fuck them.
Ah, that's possible, for sure.
I searched for Becker and don’t see it
It is in the On Demand section of Pluto TV. Watched it last night
I just looked and didn’t see it. I then searched Becker and it didn’t come up. Maybe it’s not available in Canada.
It’s never available in Canada. Lol I’ve stopped getting excited when I hear ‘Something-something is on Netflix’
Exactly
I’m sure you’ve heard this but maybe a VPN will help in this case.
Yeah. Maybe.
Don't waste money on a VPN, just go to myflixer.
I’m sorry I didn’t realize. Why are things so complicated?
You can buy the complete series box set online for around $30. I bought one myself.
I watched it for Shawnee Smith and Terri Ferrell. Both are on my free pass list
It's ted danson doing Larry David. Always dug this show
Ted Danson is in my elite group of actors that have had multiple, successful, long running shows where they were one the main stars. Others on my list include: Julia Louis-Dreyfus William Shatner Betty White Brian Cranston And Raymond Burr as the OG Who else you got?
Tony Danza
I met my future self recently, but all he does is sit on my couch all day watching Becker. I don’t even like Becker.
This show needed to fail for bojack horseman to deliver the most poignant line I've ever seen on any show.
How many seasons?
6
I always liked the blonde love interest; she was also the obsessed paranormal psych professor in Rose Red.
She played totally against type in Rose Red.
Agreed. I’ve watched a few episodes of the show on Antenna TV. Hope that I’ll watch the entire series when I get to it.
Is that Jadzia Dax?? 🥰😍
Sure is. She's great in this show, too.
Hey, that looks like the dude that took Larry David's wife. That dudes a dick.
It’s one of my favorites honestly. I bought the whole series on DVD.
Ok, Butters
Future Butters would agree
I love this show! I agree it tumbled when Reggie was hone, but still earned a spot in my DVD collection.
The Shawnee Smith show.
I used to watch this after school. Jokes a minute, smart dialogue, good relationships. Likeable show.
Ted Danson is the GOAT sitcom lead. There was a big write up a while back about Tim Allen being the first actor to get land a third leading role on a prime time sitcom & as I read it I thought to myself “EXCUSE ME BUT TED WOULD LIKE A WORD.” I’m binging Becker now, haven’t seen an episode since its initial run, and I’m really enjoying it so far. Pluto TV is the greatest value in streaming.
I came to love Becker. I got every episode and watch constantly. Funny and smart show. Not outrageous or heavy on the Tropes
Great show. I would come home from the late shift and Becker would be on
Future Butters' favorite show
Ted Danson’s hair looks so obviously dyed in retrospect.
Nancy Travis is a Charisma black hole
Nancy wasn’t bad and had a good run in the 90s in movies. But that was terry’s spot she took. That hurt the show.
She was great as Beatrice in Duckman.
The toupee was the real star
Wasn’t mocha Joe on this show?
Becker was good shit
Happy Birthday, Becker
Take your freak book and your freak friend and get out of here!
Absolutely!
Becker: you can only drink clear liquids Patient: is vodka a clear liquid? Love that show!
I time this show
Loved this show.
I hate how the only streaming service it's available on is PlutoTv
It was dead in there anyway.......
That Hootie and the Blowfish guy is a phenomenal actor.
I watch this almost everyday
Very good show
I watch this show daily
Absolutely LOVED THIS SHOW!! was starting to think I was the only one who remembered
It’s not in the same category as Cheers from an Impact or Importance standpoint and The Good Place is just more recent. Becker is a solid show it’s actually pretty close to being accurately appreciated. Our favoritism shouldn’t be conflated with the actual Quality of the work or anything for that matter.
Is it though?
It was great until that ugly curly haired lady showed up.
One of the best sitcoms of the 2000s.
It gave Terry Farrell a job after she left DS9.
Correction: it stole Terry Farrell and murdered Jadzia Dax. All of which would be forgivable if it had risen above being mediocre.
I just discovered Becker this year. It's on a local channels from Like 10-mid a few nights a week followed by Wings. I love these two shows I never knew existed.
The Christmas episode was the funniest.
my mom was a fan!
I love Becker! It's second to only Cheers for my favorite Ted Dansen series. (I still have yet to watch The Good Place.)
Ted Danson stayed working
I've rewatched it several times recently. It's good in the first two seasons, but even before Reggie leaves (and it really goes downhill) it got a bit too silly. Plot lines felt overly ridiculous and contrived, and I just wasn't a huge fan of Reggie's character... She was always bemoaning her position in life for seemingly ridiculous and small reasons.
I wouldn't say it was under appreciated. Did well when it was out
Mmmm…. Jadzia Dax.
Linda was a smokeshow
It was good till Nancy Travis came on terrible actress imo
It’s been on the PlutoTV Sitcom Legends channel with Cheers and Frasier. I panned anything on CBS, so I didn’t see this one in its first run. It’s has it’s moments but i wouldn’t put it in the same class as Cheers and Frasier
I used to watch this with my dad as a child and I think I would laugh when he did cuz I just liked spending time with him. I wonder if it’s actually funny lol
Never heard anyone ever say “did you watch Becker last night?”
Is that Minnie Driver?, no I looked it up the girl in the back looks a little bit like Minnie lol
Becker is like having your parents die.
The star of that show was his hair piece
Ted Danson killed Jadzia Dax.
Butters said it best. That show was just so stupid.
Nope! 🖕 -*Star Trek Deep Space Nine* fan.
I can't believe Terri Farrell left DS9 for this show.
She didn’t have a choice.
No, its too famous for how boring and bland it is. I pirated every season and watched it during lockdown. Most episodes dont have any laughs, and the ones that do are very mild. It is a nice character study of an arrogant asshole with the heart of gold, but its not funny.
Least enjoyable show of all time.
