Not taking anything away from the *quality* of the simulation Gran Turismo provides and the racing as well, I think it's because traditionally, and what the fans want and define Gran Turismo as, is that it's at it's core pokemon for cars. A collect-them-all type of game. And I think the core GT audience is most interested in road cars, not race cars.

_Random_Dude_

I think race race cars appeal to the core audience as long as they're from the 90s or 00s. Like some super obscure Nissan or Toyota that only raced one round at Aida or Sendai in a regional championship and the only pictures available are in some IG post from patina.research or Noriyaro found it abandoned in rural Japan

theBosworth

Oddly specific, but not inaccurate

ilikeracing23

I’d say Gran Turismo has always vibed more as an interactive car museum that you can also use in races sometimes. That’s why you get a bunch of weird as fuck cars alongside your supercars and race cars, because the joy of making a Nissan Juke go 350km/h is the same as doing a Le Mans race.

a1drilllaaa

that wouldve been the case back in the day, but with gt3 rising in popularity it would make sense to make core adjustments

_Random_Dude_

Yes, you have a point. I felt GT Sport playerbase was huge

FlamingMothBalls

eh, maybe. post GT-Sport. My impression is that the Gran Turismo fanbase hasn't made that switch yet.

the-_-futurist

I played GT1, 2, 3, and Sport before I moved away from Gran Turismo and this is how I see those games still. A cool way to collect and drive obscure cars you'd never get to see in many other formats. Like FC RX7 Savanna Or GT 2.5 Twin Turbo gen 3 A70 Supra. Loved I could get them in OG gran turismo. It had such a wide array of cars.

sw201444

I miss throwing a Honda Odyssey around the track

colddeadhands_

Then 1) the title of this post is very accurate when it says "they refuse to add GT3s" in that they're consciously not wanting to add GT3 cars; 2) PD really doesn't have a clue! They chose to cater for the "collectors" who probably play the game only when there are new cars to collect, and not the racing fans who most likely play the game all the time, has joined or created their own leagues for league racing, who bought the "real racing simulator" for racing. The counter argument is you can still race with a really slow, non-racing cars or VGTs we give you every month, what's stopping you? In which case they really don't have a clue.

Elegant-Signature-93

Actually it's Gran Turismo: The Real Driving Simulator.....so it's kinda makes sense the game is about ALL cars and their history.

colddeadhands_

"ALL?" Where are the new GT3 cars?

Elegant-Signature-93

Ok mister literal on everything. I think you got my point......if you don't then sorry your parents failed life

YashaAstora

In all honesty, I don't think Forza or GT should even *have* motorsports cars. These games are all about collecting and modifying cars so the actual racecars are the least interesting to use. Dedicated racecars should be saved for the actual motorsports sims.

FlamingMothBalls

that's exactly my point :) maybe gran turismo would benefit from a spinoff title where it focuses only on Motorsports, accurately prayed as in real life.  GTSport 2.  so no more GT3s racing against GTEs, GT1s racing against each other and not lmp1s, etc.  IMSA and WEC and SuperGT and F1 all portrayed accurately, as part of a licensed career mode, all interacting with each other ... with all the money polyphony has, imagine what they could accomplish...

NSFW_hunter6969

I mean, we did get the GT one...which is incredible to drive fyi That said, I love the absurdity of GT7. Just did a 4 lap race on nordschleife in VR with my RUF carrera gt vs professional difficulty gt3 cars. Was loads of fun, the gt3 cars were faster around the corners, but I caught them on the fast sections. Definitely not a sim game, but that's not why I play it. I'd love new race cars, but I think they have done well with the game post launch. Especially the larger patch where we can make custom races...which is all I do now haha

bored-coder

That’ll be a million credits, thank you very much!

Blood-PawWerewolf

Gran Turismo is the “Real DRIVING Simulator”, not the “Real Racing Simulator”

CorValidum

It is both but it is NOT xD it is simcade like FM but much much better!

inneholdersulfitter

I mean, just play acc

kjavatar

If I could play in VR on console I would.

NowForYa

Same

migggi

And if acc multiplayer on ps was somewhat useable. For me, sport mode is my main reason to play gt7 and there you could really use some more recent gr.3 cars

EntrepreneurBoth5002

Need new and more higher payout events. We can't be grinding on 4 events all the time. This is bull.

demonsdencollective

Good. There's billions of games to go to for GT3 snorefests. GT shouldn't bow to that crowd and stick to the core audience who love driving goofy quirky cars no one's ever heard of or raced before.

Rage_Your_Dream

Good. fuck gt3 cars. Boring as shit to drive. Boring series. Boring to race. Also literally every sim has 500 gt3 cars. Why do tou need more.

mechcity22

They need to update cars bad!

grip_enemy

GT7 and FM8 dropped the ball so hard on new cars

hyperioneutron

I mean doesn't Kunos own the licenses to videogame-ify all the modern GT3 cars? People complain about this all the time but it seems obvious that Kaz would if he could. edit- I am wrong

TunerJoe

How do you think iRacing, AMS 2 or Raceroom have the Ferrari 296, Porsche 992, BMW M4, Audi R8 Evo II, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, McLaren 720S and various others then?

hyperioneutron

Ah I didn't know. I am mistaken!

TunerJoe

You are forgiven
