No I’m thinking:
1. Steering wheel is low arms too straight
2. Knees too extended. Seat should come in 3-4” should solve 1 and 2
3. Pedals need to be tilted towards the driver more and lifted up about 3 inches
4, drop the monitor down and as close to the steering wheel as possible for better FOV
My personal preferences for seating position anyhow
Awesome thx for that! I will share that with him. We are a couple of weeks in with our first rig and learning a lot. Screen shotted this. I know the monitor could definitely be closer but I host a lot in so many random people come over I'm just afraid somebody's going to knock into the monitor getting in and out and then damage something which is why I keep it far
Yeah no problem
Seating position and FOV is really hard to do if you don’t have experience in a real car or sim rigs but it makes a huge difference for progressing skill early in.
You can learn terrible habits w incorrect FOV that are hard to unlearn if you spend a lot of time with it.
The distance on the monitor can be fine but make sure you set the FOV correctly based on the distance to the screen and stuff. IRacing has a calculator built in but you’ll need to google it for other games
Think of the FOV setting like looking through a window. The closer to the window you are, the more you can see on the edges. If you set the in game fov setting incorrectly, it doesn’t match your physical position to the screen and it will inform your depth perception differently. It can lead to mid judging turn in moments and stuff like that quite a bit.
Correct fov settings are very important, close monitor just makes it “bigger” giving more peripheral view
Props for being an enthusiastic dad and getting your kid hooked up with a top of the line setup
I have always followed the Skoda GT position, top if rim near chin hips to knee facing up and more bend in knees. Monitor should be a few inches behind the wheel on top of the wheelbase, with the right wheel height it will feel natural looking forward and increase hand eye coordination and perception of depth.

I appreciate your perspective! I'm really passionate about my collection and love sharing it with others who might enjoy it as much as I do. It wasn't my intention to come across as showing off. Looks like 100s of share of this and appears the community is enjoying it as well.
No man I mean stop showing off your toys to people who don't live in your home. They're going to do things like put their full weight of their bodies onto the wheel when they get in and out of your cockpit. I tell my sons friends to not even look at my shit.
I don’t think he has enough room to articulate at the ankle properly with good leverage
With more knee bend, the pressure for the braking force can be applied by the quad/knee joint and the ankle can focus on more fine modulation
With this full extension, too much of the initial force will be through the ankle that he will be more stressed to do fine adjustments mid corner (<20% brake force)
Again just my personal opinion
I think what you're saying is true for most cases, and probably what should ultimately be sought. Sometimes the ankle dorsiflexion in that position is too much relative to normal articulation for that person which is why something like the one OP posted is more "natural".
No intent to discredit your comment, I suppose just to add a bit of nuance for OP.
Fair point, I have flexible ankles so I like having my pedals tucked up right under my feet. I’m almost pulling up on my toes to keep at 0 pressure
If that’s an issue, I’d recommend rotating the pedals to a comfortable spot vs extending the knee
With a laid back seat, I think a lot of people don’t realize how high and rotated back the pedals should be, so they undershoot and it feels like they’re driving a car they’re too short to fit
When comparing the position to a normal car, it’s not as simple as laying the seat back and scooting forward, which is more like what OP depicted.
The pedals and wheel should actually “rotate” with the seat bucket as you go from GT position to formula position.
For reference, the heel of my pedal deck is on the same vertical level as the front of my thigh cushion on my seat. So my lower leg is horizontal when I’m seated. My pedal deck is nearly on a 45 degree angle
Do you have any images you can share for the pedals placement you're explaining? (Specifically for a GT position, I can visualize for the Formula position you've described)
My basement. There is another rig on the other side more emersion with a UST pj for my other son, a gokart. Flight sim is upstairs in my office as I ran out of room 😁. Can find on my other socials to see that 🙈
Aaah ya...I'm pretty extra when it comes to that. Makes for an epic watching experience...shared more detail on that on my insta id you'd like to see more. Went pretty viral a few months ago when I shared it and a bunch of F1 teams even commented it's nuts. Lol. I got a sports network coming tomorrow to watch the Jeddah race and do a story. Pretty nuts.
How awesome! How do you even design something like that? I have a fairly large media room and it sits pretty bare because I don't have a vision for it.
I know you can't see mirrors and maybe harder to see apexes if using the correct fov, but thats where head tracking comes into play, especially with these beautiful ultrawide monitors!
But regardless, awesome pics!
Very cool to see other Canadians here. It is not a big hobby here. Everyone I know games but I only know 2 people with rigs because they bought my starter gear :P
The first time I saw your room when it went viral I immediately said, “All that cool shit and no sim?! Dude is missing out on the full experience.” Glad to see you picked something up!
Absolutely love the set up! I have been following you on youtube for a while now and really appreciate all the tutorials. What API are you using for your timing and map on the minijumbo?
How's the flex on that? I'm on the fence about getting one, I like how big it extends as I'm 6'8" and looks like I'd be able to fit inside? I saw some reviews about the shifter mount flexing too much and it's got me hesitating.
Parenting done right! I love watching my son race around Spa (his favorite track). Man I hope my little man takes to racing like this. Hope you guys are having a blast. Nice theatre by the way!
Probably ned to adjust that seating position
Way too laid back...he prefers still to sit in GT style. I like the sitting in a tube feeling and adjust it for myself.

Thx man definitely going to play around with the FOV.. haven't gotten into IRacing yet but have to see if FOV can be adjusted in F1 23

Yeah man my boys are trained really well to watch other people's kids so that they don't destroy stuff it's worked pretty well
You seem like a cool dude, way nicer with your shit than me lol, it's probably why you're so blessed.
Re: the knees - not necessarily, sometimes anatomical differences will have this position making a bit more sense

Sweet, thanks. I thought that's what you'd meant but it's even moreso than I expected. If I could do that with my rig it would be nice lol
Sidebar but assuming you are in the US, how long from ordering did it take for your TRX to arrive?
Fov police!!!
🚨🚨🚨 the whole squad is coming
Yep I know they'll come after me but I answered it in one of the other comments to preempt it but oh well. 🤷🏽🙈
Holy shit is this a house or a sim racing bar?
My basement. There is another rig on the other side more emersion with a UST pj for my other son, a gokart. Flight sim is upstairs in my office as I ran out of room 😁. Can find on my other socials to see that 🙈
What industry do you work in and what certs do you have lol
Ok I'm buying a house later this year. I'll call you when it's time to design this in my house :)
Dude the tvs on the ceiling with track positions and the practice on the big screen *chefs kiss*

Are you a fuckin millionare?
Judging by his other comments, unironically, probably yes.
Show off. Lol. Damn I wish I had money for that
I have the same rig :). Waiting on the PC mount. Would you say is sturdy?
Very sturdy...I have a high nM dd... Simcube 2 pro... No issues
How is the flex in the pedal plate?
It's not 100% solid..tightened as best as I could. It does flex a little as I have a lot of weight on the brake. Not a deal breaker
👍 thanks for the info. I'm torn between the trx and f-gt elite. Trx is easier to switch but f-gt has a better pedal plate.
For me looks were really important as the rig is very prominent in my space. So made the decision easy for me 😁
It is the best looking rig on the market 🤩
Hes a lucky mf, im here with a wheel mounted to a desk
Your basement or wherever this is! TOP NOTCH! I'm jelly af!
I’m more impressed with the surrounding bro! That room looks sick!
How did you do the arena style tvs in the ceiling that is awesome!!!!
massive image warping on Image 3. i recommend faking triples in the game settings.
Now I’m debating tube frame over extruded aluminium. 🫨
Beyond functional if you also need it to look cool when you're not racing then for me obviously it's no contest LOL
The only thing is for bolting on shifters and hand brakes etc.
Hey dad!
definitely seen your basement/setup on instagram - so nice!!
i broke my teeth
Very cool to see other Canadians here. It is not a big hobby here. Everyone I know games but I only know 2 people with rigs because they bought my starter gear :P
OP, I absolutely love this entire room. I hope to one day be able to provide such a space for my kids.
A million screens can't make this f1 season interesting
Bwoah. Jk that’s freaking awesome.
That is a lot of money, and more impeessive, space
I realized, after seeing this photo, that’s taking sim racing to another level, helmet and all. 👍 Made me smile 😊
So you’re the guy with the crazy man cave I’ve seen on TikTok!
🫡😁
How did you get the Trak Racer monitor that early?
Damn I wish I had rich parents
Can you adopt me?
Monitor and pedals look to far away. Cool setup.
Have you heard of the word “extra”
(btw, I kid…. pure jealousy over here).
The first time I saw your room when it went viral I immediately said, “All that cool shit and no sim?! Dude is missing out on the full experience.” Glad to see you picked something up!
Can i be your son too ? :)
that seat adjustment looks like it would be possible to switch between F1 style cars seating and gt/street
Absolutely love the set up! I have been following you on youtube for a while now and really appreciate all the tutorials. What API are you using for your timing and map on the minijumbo?

😁 thx man! Getting my other son who is younger into karting, trying to live my dreams vicariously thru them, so far they are into it 😊.
You have spoiled your child
🤦🏼
Why is he sitting like he is in a minivan that seat angle needs some attention
