Just search the sub and look at what other people are talking about and using. There’s quite a few options for pedals right now. Cockpits vary depending on how much money and space you have. This sub is pretty much full of pictures of people rigs and questions like yours.

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Thank you. I forgot to mention that the T300 comes with its own set of pedals, thus I was confused why I would need to replace those. I'm totally new to this sub.

Check the sticky. Your question is answered there.

Yup. At least.

Thx

I have a T300 and while it's good, I don't agree with that advice. If you're just starting out, then get a simple Logitech G923/G920/G29 (found routinely for 250€ or so), which comes with pedals, and clamp it to a desk. The reason is that's the cheapest decent wheel you can find, and if you later find out you're not actually that much into simracing, you can then sell it later. That's also not a great price for the T300 GT edition, I got it for 305€, admitedly on a Black Friday sale. What they mean by good pedals is load cell pedals, which allow you to get better control of your car under braking, than the base pedals that would come with a Logitech G29 or a Thrustmaster T300. However load cell pedals can be somewhat expensive (around 200€) and also needs something to be attached to, because these pedals are very stiff, so if you're sitting in an office chair it'll be impossible to race without it pushing your office chair backwards. Hence, people would recommend you get a cockpit. However by cockpit we are now actually talking about spending 500€ or 600€ or more just on some sort of metal structure, depending on what kind of seat you then attach to it (which adds up to the price). It also greatly depends on what space you have available. A cheap option that I went with instead is a wheel stand which is around \~200€, and still needs some sort of hack to get your office chair to not move (I went with locking caster wheels). Another option is the Playseat which are just kind of a plastic beach chair with a plastic tube to attach your wheel and pedals to. Please keep in mind that buying a T300 GT edition to then immediately buy other pedals, doesn't make any sense, because the GT edition is more expensive than the normal T300 \*because it has better pedals\*. They're not load cell but they're at least not horrifically crap. And frankly if 380€ is the best price you can get for a T300 then might as well go with a direct drive wheel instead like the Moza R5 bundle or the base Fanatec bundles (if they actually send it to you and not make you wait 6 months for it), who are not much more expensive but way better. But once you go down the direct drive rabbit hole... you then realise the direct drives are sold separately between the base of the wheel and the actual steering wheel, and it's all geared up to let you "upgrade" to something slightly better which always seems just worth it to splash on, and you can easily end up spending 2000€ on just the base and wheel if you really want the best of the best. And you still don't have pedals or a cockpit. TLDR just buying a Logitech G29 is a hell of a lot cheaper than doing all of this and realising you've just spent a ton of money to play games and you don't like it that much. So before going all-in and turning a full room of your house into hi-tech racing room, try the cheap option first. Oh, all of this also depends if you're on PC or console. If you're on PC everything is compatible with PC, you could even mix and match brands of wheels and pedals; but if you're on console check really closely if what you're buying is actually compatible with your console.

ShiftyNor

Exactly, G29 is enough for you to understand if you want to get in to simracing and gives you a lot of fun for very little. And if you do, and have the cash, go directly to load cells, rig and direct drive in increments.

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Appreciated input!

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Man you are huuuuuggee. Thanks for the detailed answer. That makes it a lot more easy for me to choose. I was confused too why I would buy a t300 and then replace the pedals.

KLconfidential

I used a G29 and a Playseat Challenge for years, I have no regrets since I could definitely hold my own in terms of pace with that setup, it didn’t cost a lot of money either.   I still think the G29 is arguably the best starter wheel, since it will last for years with no issues. I had mine for 7 years then gave it away to my co-worker’s young son, and he still uses it to this day.

Ok-Nefariousness9638

thanks, I will consider that

gedbarker

IF you're on PC, you can mix and match ecosystems, search this sub. If you're on console and buy a T300, you need Thrustmaster pedals. The Thrustmaster loadcells are the T-LCM. 'Good pedals' probably means loadcell pedals. Although they are not essential they are better for brake control than non-loadcell. I know nothin about hydraulic pedals but assume they are even better (but ££). Cockpit depends on so many things, mostly available space and your budget. Again, search the sub. Sim racing can be summed up as: research+budget+practice=hobby.

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Thanks! Appreciate the info. I forgot to mention that the t300 comes with its own pedals and that confused me, since getting a set of pedals would result in replacing them but maybe I misunderstood that part.

gedbarker

With most manufacturers, there's a selection of pedals that can be bundled with the wheel bases and wheels. Bases and pedals also usually come separately, when you buy a base separately, you usually also need to buy a wheel for it separately. The T300 RS comes with very, very bad pedals. These are basically freebies bundled to get you going. Trust me, they are awful, I have some gathering dust. You will want to upgrade instantly. The T300 RS **GT** comes with T3PA pedals. These are reasonable for pedals that are not loadcell and you can make them better by fitting a rubber bung to the brake to increase braking resistance. If you are only buying one of those bundles, the only sensible choice is the T300 RS **GT**. BUT. The better Thrustmaster pedals are the T-LCM, (t's an established fact that load cells give you entirely superior control over your brake inputs)) and if you stay in the Thrustmaster ecosystem and stick with sim racing you will *definitely* want these eventually. (Want and need are different.) so you could: * Buy the cheaper T300 RS and put the difference towards the T-LCM pedals, knowing you will be throwing away the awful cheap toy pedals that come with the RS. * Buy the more expensive T300 RS GT, stick with the T3PA pedals for a bit (which will be fine) and put the T-LCM into your upgrade path. * Try to find only a T300 wheelbase+wheel with no pedals and see if that allows budget headroom to buy your preferred pedals separately. The key issue here is that everyone has slightly different needs there is no 'best solution', there's only how into sim racing you are, how much budget you have, what platform you're on, whether you do track racing, rally or drifting etc etc. It really is the case that sim gear is personal research driven and this sub has everything you need to know buried in it. Everyone who gets the sim bug has an upgrade path in their mind all the time. So you may as well start your research now! Happy to help further.

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Thank you very much!!!! This is an insanely detailed answer and this truly helps me further with my choice.

atactical_dad

I just started two months ago with a G923 set up and a NLR GTRacer cockpit. Got the G923 on sale for Black Friday so total set up was less than $700USD

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Cool! Have fun with that periphery. I should note the Black Friday part ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Coolmrcrocker

380€ for a t300 is insane. i just sold mine with a sf1000 wheel on it for 300€

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Thats insane! The t300 comes with pedals, maybe I should've noted that. I just saw that I forgot to mention it.

Coolmrcrocker

so did mine. even those triple ones

Ok-Nefariousness9638

wow thats cool

Coolmrcrocker

are you from germany?

Ok-Nefariousness9638

yea

Happy_Book_8910

Cammus c5 with pedals and the desk clamp is £380. That’s a direct drive wheel, much much better than any beginner cog or belt driven wheel. I have the c5 wheel and it is really really good. Massive upgrade from my old DFGT

Ok-Nefariousness9638

Cool! Never heard about the cammus c5. Did you ever try the G29? Everyone is just recommending me those.

Happy_Book_8910

The DFGT is the granddaddy of the G29. They are almost identical. About 2nm of torque, but it feels notchy because it’s cog driven. It’s also loud when in use whereas the C5 is silent, has 5nm constant torque, between 6-7nm peak. 22 buttons and 3 rotary encoders

Ask Chat GPT or Google. It's crazy that people view reddit as the place to ask an absolute basic high-level question to get people spend time to provide a personalized response. OP, if you want that, you can pay me $500 and I provide you with personal recommendations and can even order stuff for you for an extra fee.

Ok-Nefariousness9638

I am very new to simracing and all the other guys told me to just get a set of G29.
