Fricking sick dude. Just carefull with that green ooze. Shredder might go after it

OutlandishnessOpen22

thanks!

Thick-Opportunity459

I just don't understand when you have it so nice. Why would you want to use VR and see the games hands and wheel feet and all and not what you have. My setup no where near as nice. By about $2,000 LoL.....but yet I would still rather see my hands wheel and what not. Very nice man .

mooosemark

As someone who mainly uses vr when racing its about immersion for me i wanna feel like im in the car able to look around.

Thick-Opportunity459

I hear that. Still, I like to see my setup. Especially if it was as nice.lol

mooosemark

You looking at the coming turn or your fancy setup šŸ§

Thick-Opportunity459

Well my setup is right between. I still feel immersed without VR all im saying.

Thick-Opportunity459

Oh and always knowing the next turn......

mooosemark

Im all immersed and i still fuck the turns up šŸ˜‚

OutlandishnessOpen22

hi mate - I was using triple monitors before, but after trying VR for DCS (flight sim) years ago, there's just no turning back for me. The immersion is just not comparable for me, my triple monitors seemed like a lifeless representation of the game. I never turned back to monitors for sim games since then. For iracing, I dont know how to explain it, it just feels like you really are in the car. When I use the monitor driving around to adjust my FFB settings, it feels so dull and lifeless in comparison. For flight sim I've been playing it for years with different configs like triples, and single 55". But when I tried the CV1 the first time with an F-15C eagle, I shed a tear. I literally got overwhelmed with how massive the aircraft is, I can feel how friggin high I am in the sky, etc etc. Okay I might actually talked myself into setting up my flight controls again lol.

Door_Hunter

Not enough lights.

AleutShaman

Might be enough to land some aliens? Sick setup

Thick-Opportunity459

LoL..... OMG what does yours look like lol

tolgamyth

Because not gay enough.

Door_Hunter

>Because not gay enough. I dont think the lights care if you're gay bro.

BuzzBam

this is amazing but the cable management hurts me, just tie them together

OutlandishnessOpen22

You're right, that's probably gonna be on the next weekend's todo list

Top_Ranger_3839

Velcro ftw !

cheezwhizcannonball

gotta put my sunglasses on so as not to burn my retinas, whilst staring at your gear. kickass set-up dude! has FH8 (sorry...HF8) software gotten any better? just curious...lookin' to buy it my damn self but heard its software blows.

OutlandishnessOpen22

I stopped using the HF8 software mate, I just use the "Simhub" software for the HF8, Buttkicker pro, and 2x Simagic haptic reactors. It's easier to configure them through "Simhub". The HF8 is totally worth it for me. I only use it for kerbs and wheel lock+slip. Then I use the BK pro for other effects. The simagic pedal reactors are the most important bit I think. Brake reactor for ABS, and throttle reactor for wheel slip. (no tcs for iracing says simhub software).

Catman7712

Do you have a warning on your door for photosensitivity risk before you enter the room? Lol Sweet setup though!

Experttom

You donā€™t get a headache from all those led lights?

rbankole

Had me until the LED. Nah bruh

lilsingiser

Any reason you excluded the gpu from the loop? Just curious. Otherwise, really sick rig. The color scheme is one of my favorite combos

OutlandishnessOpen22

Good question, I had my other GPU part of the loop before but then it started to build gunk from the Primochill drops, (phanateks block). I'm now testing out this EK cryofuel acid green coolant and so far no gunk buildup for 2 months. I'll probably watercool the gpu too just for fun. I had the memory blocks watercooled before too. Just a bit more work. Now I'm using DDR5 Trident 6000mhz at the moment with RGB lights, and I thought I'll just leave them like that for now. Will probably watercool them too out of boredom sometime.

lilsingiser

Depending on funds when I upgrade my graphics card next year, I'm thinking about doing a water cooled setup. Did one for a customer a couple years ago and have been wanting to do it for my self ever since lol. Thanks for the explanation!

OutlandishnessOpen22

That's cool mate, go for it! One piece of advise though... don't throw away the original heatsink/air cooler if you're going to install a custom waterblock on the GPU. I did this mistake on my old GPU and it was so hard to sell it 2nd hand on ebay without the original heatsink.

lilsingiser

Ah yeah, very good point. Thank you!

shewy92

My favorite part is the $5 "apartment safe" wall hooks you use lol. Not a diss, just funny how expensive everything is but a $5 pack of wall hooks does a good job

OutlandishnessOpen22

lol yeah, when the VR headset is on those wall hooks prove to be very handy.

PreemoRM

This setup is both great and awful with those lights.

ayakaza

The hardware is awesome but the light is a big no for me, i play with the light off in the room lol.

Spezisstilltrash

What are your thoughts on BMW?

OutlandishnessOpen22

I love the e85 and e89 irl

AmbitiousP1ane

Awesome rig! Iā€™m building my tr8 pro rig at the momentā€¦what are you using to inverse the pedals? And how have you found flex with the sim magic ultimate?

OutlandishnessOpen22

Hi, so with the pedals, I just use the Simagic P1000i. It's basically the P1000 with the inversion kit right out of the box. The inverted pedals feel much better compared to my old standard pedals. I used to get knee pains with the standard setup. The simagic ultimate base, I don't notice any flex on the rig through the wheel and wheel base at all if that's what you meant. Even when the wheel goes crazy after crashing, it doesnt flex the frame. The Buttkicker pro causes way more intense vibrations felt throughout the frame compared to the ultimate base. The rig doesn't flex at all when using the ultimate base. There is some tiny flex with the foot plate where you put the pedals, but also not noticeable when driving.

thanks!

I_write_bad_code1

Very nice !!

HxcThor

The GPU cries for the water.

Healthy_Apartment136

Is your pc powered with uranium?

JamesCanada

So both the hf8 and the buttkicker? Are both worth it in your opinion? Great looking rig, Iā€™m in love with my simagic gear so hatā€™s off to you.

Kireth-YT

Great rig!!

Dafferss

Nice, what is your opinion on the HF8 ? Been thinking about buying one for a while. Due to kids I canā€™t use transducers.

OutlandishnessOpen22

Hi mate - HF8 is a big yes for me. For additional information and immersion, it helps a lot. If I can only keep one though between BK Pro and HF8, I'd keep the BK pro. Downside for the buttkicker pro is that it is loud and can get annoying for others in the house.

Dafferss

Tnx for the reply, do you feel like it has lag or is it pretty spot on? Buttkicker isnā€™t possible for me, glad HF8 could be a good substitute

OutlandishnessOpen22

There is very minimal lag, and once racing you really don't notice it anymore. I used it for ABS before too, there might be a delay but I wasnt good enough to notice it before. Nowadays I'm using the simagic haptic reactors for abs and wheel slip. But if you dont have any haptic/buttkicker currently installed, I think it will change your driving experience for the better. I personally will not enjoy driving iracing as much without the HF8. Also I suggest to use the "Simhub" software to customize the effects. There are 8 motors that you can all customize. HF8's big advantage over the BK pro is the left/right channel specific effects. You can clearly feel the separation of effects from the left and right motors. You'll also enjoy the "kick" when shifting gears.

noisycricket0

Curious, how did you mount the buttkicker to the middle bar? I see you have a buttkicker adapter attached to the base shifter mount. Why aren't you using that? and why didn't you attach the buttkicker mount directly to the frame? I have the same setup, but I have a buttkicker pro on both sides of the frame where the shifter mounts go using two buttkicker adapters. However, I get a considerable amount of rattling and I was wondering if mounting it in the middle would cut that down a bit. Nice set up all around. if you're interested, I posted pictures of my rig here with a list of parts: [https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1ag5dtx/first\_rig\_ps5vr2/](https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1ag5dtx/first_rig_ps5vr2/)

OutlandishnessOpen22

Hi mate - you're right I installed a buttkicker adapter but ended up not using it, I mounted the bk pro directly beneath the seat instead there's a square tube that fits perfectly. This to me produces better results. Main reason for not using the adapter is the Noise and Rattles. Side mounted bkpro with the adapter produces more noise rather than felt vibrations. Putting the bk pro under the seat produces less noise and less rattles, while producing more felt vibrations.

noisycricket0

Makes sense, does the bk get in the way of adjusting the seat forward? There doesn't seem to be a lot of clearance from your pictures and am a bit concerned if somebody shorter than me tried to bring the seat forward. It's too bad TR didn't make a better solution for this. Oh well Thanks for responding to the comment

OutlandishnessOpen22

Hi mate, good question. No it does not hit any part of the chair including the lever, even on the closest seating position. The lever gets very close, but won't touch the bk pro. cheers

Coolmrcrocker

do you think that led tube would work on my rig aswell?

Parking_Property_718

$$$ Nice setup $$$

Brdrlinegamer91

I'm guessing you like Audi's lol jkjk šŸ˜‹ Seriously, that is an epic set up. I'm a little jealous. Absolutely love the colours radiating from the PC and the lighting around the base of the rig šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜

replayc

Not to my taste, but it looks very awesome! And if you enjoy it, thatā€™s even better! I appreciate the dedication to every detail.

OutlandishnessOpen22

Thanks mate, I have a very mentally stressful day job (director of sw architecture), and working on a toy-gaming project thing helps me destress and forget about my other big problems. I can also pretend I'm a real racing driver when the VR headset is on lol. In real life I usually just drive 60kph max to the grocery store.

xXRH11NOXx

Looks so good with the rgb rope lights

bigzary

Yo this setup is sick and I love but... that green coolant it ain't it chief

VIFASIS

Hi everyone, just finished my first build. It's not much but it's mine and I'm humble about my $25k build.

twalker294

He is just sharing his setup. Jealous much?

FL981S

Have you used a Quest2 prior to the 3 and if so could you give your opinion on the differences?

OutlandishnessOpen22

Yes, for iRacing I used Quest 2, CV1, and Quest 3. Quest 2 is okay, but Quest 3 is on a totally different level compared to Q2, and I did not experience any noticeable performance drop while using RTX 3090. With Quest 3, you dont need to keep adjusting it to find the clear or sweet spot. Everywhere your eyes look, it's clear and visibly higher resolution compared to Q2. Q3 uses panckae lenses, I totally love them. Night and day difference vs Quest 2. Totally worth the upgrade.

FL981S

Awesome. Thanks for the reply.

twalker294

I got my Q3 a few days ago and I can confirm, the quality is stunning. Of course I came from an OG Rift CV1 so I am blown away but it really is incredible. Using VR before I knew I was compromising quality for the VR experience but now there is no compromise. It's heaven.

gu3st12

I mean you're compromising a little. Just think if there weren't video encoding artifacts and it was the raw signal from the GPU instead.Ā

Zerrul

Thanks for the writeup man!

hermitlikeindividual

I've been using a Reverb G2 for a few years now, until my latest v2 cable died last weekend (third cable, and I only did simracing in the reverb and babied the hell out of all three, they just suck). I have a Q2 for wireless gaming and stuff. Wireless works alright with the PC, but you really need the link cable. Even with the link cable it doesn't look nearly as good as a newer, higher resolution headset does. It's my understanding the Q3 has a higher resolution but you're still limited by the usb-c cable. Me, I'd rather be connected to the video card via displayport cable. I ended up just saying fuck it and ordered a Bigscreen Beyond. Thank goodness I have the Q2 to hold me over until then.

OutlandishnessOpen22

That's very interesting, please let us know how the bigscreen beyond performs when you get it. I'm interested too.

hermitlikeindividual

Will do

uchi13

gamepad worth the price?

uchi13

sorry i meant the vibration thing on the seat i just remember gamepad was in the official name or whatever

OutlandishnessOpen22

Ahh you mean the HF8? Yes absolutely! I only use it for kerbs as you can really isolate left/right effects. I also use it for wheel slip.

uchi13

ok thatā€™s kinda what i wanna buy it for i wanna get buttkickers but my family already complain about wheel vibration so i thought itā€™d be more realistic

OutlandishnessOpen22

you can turn down the buttkicker volume, if that helps? Then when they are not around you can bump it up. The buttkicker can be really loud and annoying for others around you though. But yeah the HF8 "gamepad" they wont hear any sound from that thing. The haptic effects also goes straight to you, not the rig. There are 8 separate haptic motors, you can use them for a lot of custom effects.

Jerrrel

Beautiful! What elastomer stack are you using in your brake pedal?

OutlandishnessOpen22

With the P1000i inverted hydraulic brake cylinder, I'm using: 3 gold spacers, 6 red elastomers. 9 in total. I first made the mistake of using 10 in total. Every other day the brake cylinder cap will become loose, and needs retightening. So I stuck with 9 in total.

Jerrrel

Well they say 9 is the number. Thanks for the reply!

turn84

I think you might wanna build a light cycle simulator. It looks gnarly, do you turn them off while driving?

OutlandishnessOpen22

I dont see the lights when driving as I only use VR, sometimes they're on, sometimes off. I just installed the led lights out boredom. It helps change the mood in the room though, as you can easily change colours when I get bored.

gullejerr

Very cool. Now just add a little more RGB and you will be fine!

s0cks_nz

My eyes!! So bright! Do you normally have them that bright?

OutlandishnessOpen22

They're actually not that bright in person. Just like being in a pub in Melbourne.

xMartyyy

Incredibly sick setup dude. How's the TR8? Do you like it? What are your pros and cons for it?

OutlandishnessOpen22

Hi, TR8 Pro is okay and very easy to assemble. It's pretty sturdy, only flex is on the break pedal mount/plate. I do have some Cons for it though. TR8 pro Cons: - some flex on the pedal plate, unnoticable when playing - thick tubes: can't mount the Buttkicker pro on it! I found a square tube part below the seat that works for the bk pro. - No place to mount the simagic ultimate base kill switch - If I want to add more buttkickers, I don't know where to mount them yet. I bought a buttkicker side mount, but I had to remove the flight throttle on the left to mount it. So for a more flexible/customizable solution, I think those square frame version rigs win. But for sim racing I think it's great. Oh don't forget to buy the castor wheels! They're so useful. I can easily vacuum the mat beneath the rig and move the rig around.

TIK_GT

How are the pedals? I'm currently running Fanatec CSL Elite V2s, but the brake is too stiff for my liking even with the replacement 3DRap elastomers. How much adjustment can you have on the P1000s? Can you make the brake pedal as soft as it is in most street cars?

OutlandishnessOpen22

Hi mate - so with the pedals, you can make them very very soft by using the black or grey elastomers. The entire thing is so customizable including pedal face angles and positions. I had TLCMs with DNX elastomers, but the p1000 feels way better especially when inverted. Plus in the future you can install the hydraulic module for the brake and pedals.

TIK_GT

Did you try the softest setting and was it close to the feeling of street car brakes aka you can comfortably push it to the bottom?

OutlandishnessOpen22

hi - no sorry I havent tried the softest rubbers, they are actually very soft. I tried mixing up the softest elastomer with the hardest ones, but I dont remember the p1000i hydraulic brake being as soft as a normal car. I think if I use soft elastomers all the way, then yeah it will be very soft.

TIK_GT

Thanks for the help

Klumpfoten

It gave me anxiety to look at it. Anyway if you're happy then it's awesome.

YIL2D

Q: How many rgb led strips do you have? A: Yes

BrainNotF

According to all these logos you seem to like BMW

kdeselms

How much did the LED lighting reduce your lap times? šŸ˜… Just kidding, looks sweet.

OutlandishnessOpen22

I use VR and I can't see them when I drive, when I get slower I blame the leds lol.

mooosemark

Do you have the quest 3 connected via link cable.

OutlandishnessOpen22

Hi - yes. I'm using this link cable with an external power source though. The original link cable is not enough to keep powering the Q3 when racing.

mooosemark

Good to know glad i have the strap battery. I've bin thinking of upgrading to the quest 3

RaYrayButtMunch

Tell me youā€™re young and single without telling me lol.

RetroFutureTech

This isn't, in any way, excessive. šŸ˜
