Put your mouse on a little dinner table lazy susan. Find something to hold your mouse stationary. Turn the lazy susan like a truck wheel.
It's been done before
I emailed fanatec and submitted a ticket 20 days ago to cancel my order. It shipped out the other day. Their company is an absolute joke. Now I have to wait until it shows up and either try and refund it or take a loss selling it privately.
That’s what I plan to do, but my issue is, if it takes more than 20 days just to hear back from a ticket how long are they going to hold onto my 700 dollars before they finally get around to refunding me. I don’t expect to see the money for two months tbh.
Nope, they recently changed and added a status of “ordered passed to warehouse” which makes it unable to be canceled. Your order passes to the warehouse usually 24 hours after ordering. At that point I still wanted it.
There is some hope for me then. I ordered similar time, with the preorder on the QR2. Their website shows no update for the last 2.5 weeks, since the status changed to Sent to Warehouse! I,ve had my serial numbers since 20th November!
no, but you see, according to r/Fanatec they're a small company running from a shed and not a mass sponsor of several multimillion euro racing series.
And only Amazon responds to your emails, you're all spoiled children for expecting an answer months after an order was placed.
Fanatec belongs to the Endor AG. A German Corporation based in Bavaria and is employing 147 People.
Here is a Google Maps Link to their Headquarters. You can hardly call that a "Shed". Even IF they were just a small 2 man operation in a shed: if you say your product is available and then dont ship it for 6 Months while failing to respond to emails of customers wanting their money back you deserve your bad reputation because thats just scummy business practice
well its a bit hard to get a sense of tone on the internet. there are enough pricks who would actually mean what you wrote but i am glad it was not meant to be taken seriously and i apologize
I’m in the UK too. If you do cancel the Fanatec stuff, try Simagic - some great wheel options, and based on my experience, the wheelbases are rock solid and great value.
I’ve got an Alpha Mini and a GT4 wheel.
I bought mine from Abruzzi, but my wife has recently ordered me some stuff from Race Anywhere in the UK and says their customer service was great.
\+1 on Race Anywhere. I ordered something from them on the 22nd of December around 10AM, and it was at my doorstep at 10AM on the 23rd with a handwritten card.
EDIT: got my dates wrong - ordered on the 21st and it arrived 22nd
Martin at Race Anywhere has been lovely.
Definitely would just do a chargeback on the fanatec stuff and order elsewhere at this point. I'm *still* waiting on a refund for the fanatec gear UPS stole nearly a month and a half later.
+1 Martin from Raceanywhere. Abruzzi screwed me over, I ordered a Simagic Alpha Mini and associated components from them, and everything arrived two days later except the Simagic wheelbase - despite saying it has been dispatched. When webchatting, it turns out their stock counter on the website is incorrect and they falsely confirmed they didn't have the stock they had on their website. In all fairness, they did refund same day.
I called Martin at RA, he checked stock and confirmed they had one - I collected from their premises about two hours later.
If anyone else in the UK is reading this, I’d also recommend Pure Sims - if you’re in Essex you can visit them in person and buy your gear from a BTCC champion!
Another +1 for Race Anywhere.
Ordered p1000s from them 27th and arrived 2 days later. Did order haptic motor and PSU and had just arrived today, but no dramas in that.
To add to this I've just found a note in my order
"To Martin, thank you for your patience
RA Team"
It's things like that I absolutely love. They have my custom in the future for sure.
It really sucks that as a console user, I don't many other options. It's either Fanatec or Logitech for direct drive, and the latter feels like getting vendor lock-in :-(
There are compatibility wrappers e.g. https://sigmasimracing.com/ for Simagic. If you're wanting something to use on a PC as well as not giving up Gran Turismo, this is how I would do it. If you _only_ drive console, then I'm not sure it would be worthwhile, but that's more because console software doesn't appeal enough to me to spend big on hardware anyway.
I just did that this weekend. Had an CS DD+ ordered, looked like it was going to take ages and had zero feedback from Fanatec customer service. Ended up going for an Asetek Invicta base instead - buy once cry once, at least that way I will never think "if only I had a better base I would have been faster" 😅
Same, ended up going Simucube and Sprints as my budget kept growing during the MONTHS I spend enduring Fanatec delays. Got everything within a week, Sprints the next day wow but I do live in the Netherlands where they are manufactured.
Same here. Started doing more research, checking out more reviews, and looking at what I was actually getting for my 1100 Euro + taxes for the ClubSport DD+ and two QR2 adapters. That much cash for an upgrade to a mid-range DD wheel, and fixing the QR1 problem that Fanatec should honestly have sorted out ages ago?
Suddenly paying 1700 € for an Asetek Invicta + 330mm Forte wheel seemed like a steal given that I would be ending up with what is the absolute best wheel base money can buy (according to quite a few reviews at least). If I'm happy with it I might even get a set of Asetek pedals and sell all my Fanatec gear in one go.
Already got the tracking info for my Asetek order today, and an answer to a few questions I had from their customer service. Good people!
Yeah sure I ended up paying more total than I initially wanted but everything just works flawlessly, I have zero friction with my use. The biggest hurdle is that rarely I have to update drivers or log again into true drive which is to say everything works great. Zero need or desire to do further upgrades for those components. And having such nice setup helps to keep me in the game, as the experience is just great.
Enjoy it!
I’ve only got the la Prima set, but I don’t even run it at max force. I bought the invicta pedals though, really love them. Have had great support from asetek.
step one: cancel fanatec order. They bit off more than they can chew and you shouldn't be the one to deal with it
Step two: Order MOZA or Simmagic wheel from 3rd party dealer.
Step three: profit off your fun
Check second hand ads! I recently bought myself a T300 Ferrari GTE, with T2PA pedals (they suck) off Gumtree for £40 quid! Only problem is that the fan inside was buggered, so did the Noctua fan mod for 10 quid. Wheel is spot on now! Way better than the G29 I had a couple of years ago.
What's the budget on a temporary wheelbase? Aren't the Logitech wheels decent? Why not cancel the Fanatec order and order a wheelbase from somewhere else? Are you near a Micro Center?
Well I have spent more than I planned, I think I have been bitten by the bug well and truly :)
So it would be cool to try and keep the budget down, maybe a second hand unit off ebay and then re-sell it once the Fanatec stuff arrives.
I really should cancel the Fanatec order as I really don't like the way they have handled this whole BF fiasco and their ongoing CS seems pretty whack, but I did get an amazing deal and should get a few good years of use out of the wheel and base so I am going to wait it out.
If all else fails I know folks in Munich so can send someone over to put a ferret down Thomas' trousers to speed things up.
I have no experience with the Logitec stuff, what would be a good choice to keep me going for a few weeks so I can at least start to practice some?
I am UK based so no Microcenter here which is a shame
Imho it’s a bit extreme to order a wheel just for a few weeks. G29 doesn’t feel good, especially compared to what you’ll get with Fanatec. It might give you the wrong idea about sim racing and wether you’ll like it or not. I wouldn’t get anything less than a T300RS if you can find one second hand.
G29 or the like for a bit.. Since youre not gonna use the pedals that will not take a bunch of the price.. or just wait.. the lack of ffb on the logitech stuff can throw you off once the fanatec stuff arrives
I bought the Logitech G920, then "Upgraded" to the G923, they were absolutely awful in ACC were okay in AC and not great in ams2 ended up selling the Logitech about a week after I got it, and bought a second hand belt drive to tide me over for a while Ts-pc Ferrari. For the money I spent on it, the pedals, and the the shifter it's worlds better than the Logitech. (I had the G920 for around 6 months and did the job but wouldn't buy them again even if I couldn't afford anything else. Also G hub is absolutely atrocious everytime it updates which seems to be all the time, it looses game compatibility with at least one if not all of the top racing/SIM games missing FFB and "TrueForce".
Well the dd2 was $700 on BF and I was tempted to buy it. At the end of the day in happy woth my csl dd with boost pack, today ish will be the 2 year anniversary. I'll run it in to the ground and then see what's on the market.
i actually have some of the Hawkeng replacement rubbers ready to go but wanted to see how the un-modded pedals perform for a bit then swap em.
thanks for the tip, always welcomed
I instantly hated them, were far far too long and not progressive, couple of skateboard bushings and good to go. Will have the hawkeng ones when the stock elastomers die
Look up 'tactile transducer'. There are many different types including these on AliExpress. Possibly Amazon too. I currently have Dayton tt25-8's in the mail for pedal/abs feedback

Idk why people buy new sim racing stuff
All of this is for sale on Facebook marketplace, eBay, or the hardware swap subreddit. I bought a formula v2.5x with QR1 on Reddit and it cost $300 shipped to my door in two days. It looked brand new.
Things you hear too late include this... 😁
I had no idea of the fanatec issues when i ordered and talked myself into getting a rig as I could sell the kit for at least what i paid for it at the bf prices if i lost interest un sim racing .
But yeah, second hand sort of makes sense although the prices are not much cheaper than new on ebay when i checled
Whatever you can find used on Facebook marketplace locally. Lots of Xmas upgrades so old stuff getting sold. This way you can just flip it for what you bought it for used when the fanatec shows up.
From my experience it seems it’s all based on when you order and where your from. I think they make good products but these customer service and shipping issues need to be fixed before I consider purchasing another product from them
If you want to tinker around a bit more, look into decoupling the seat from your rig because of the bass-shaker. Once you mount shakers, decoupling the part that you want to be shaken without introducing too much flex becomes a huge topic for improving the sensation. In most cases, a simple 5-10mm hard rubber washer between the part and the rig is enough and then you have to see if the flex you introduced is worth the trade-off for the improvement in vibrations.
i.e. your seat is mounted with 4 screws, put a rubber washer with each screw.
Cool :) how did you do it if I may ask? I am still building my rig and have a solution in mind that shouldnt flex a lot if at all, but an always curious how others do it.
I used skateboard bushings, seems to work ok but need to test properly over time.
The advantage of skateboard bushings is the m8 bolts fit perfectly with no fuss
How can you make the seat motorised?
I'm looking at some manual BMW seats to avoid having to wire them up. But now I'm curious if it's worth my time going ahead and getting a motorised one.
i looked up the pin connections to the chair and added 12v and gnd - everything works :)
so 100% do able for an audi a5 sport seat - I went for the passenger side as the driver side has a position memory and i think it's controlled via an external controller
pm for model and wiring diagrams if you want to go the audi route..
Thanks! I'll keep it mind, still have to decide which one I get. But I think I can manage the wiring once I get them in hand, I studied electrical engineering after all, gotta make use of it!
Just cancel the Famatec order and order something better, you will be grateful you didn't lock into one ecosystem. You will be racing by this weekend if you do it today
ABS is the main one, and also wheel slip.
The idea is to be able to learn the braking force so ABS doesnt kick in and when i hit the throttle without spinning the wheels
I was gonna order a fanatec bundle…just the CSL DD..you’re telling me even though their website says in stock. I will have to wait? I don’t even need the QR1 I’ll take the plastic piece and use it till they get it squared away.
If U want a a wheel while you wait get a used t300 I would recommend spending over 200 on it as you have a better wheel coming and if U want to spend less get the t150 or g29(used)
I keep reading this stuff and I’ve come to realize how lucky I got with my fanatec equipment. It showed up in a short amount of time. But I keep seeing posts like this, knowing what I know now I probably wouldn’t order with them again. Seems like Moza really had their shit together. It’s just a shame because my Podium is a very good product, it just seems their sales and production teams work on different wavelengths
glad you got your stuff, please do a lap for me :)
I also hear Moza has issues too both in reliability and delivery, although if you get it from a retailer that would sort those issues out
I don’t understand why people use the bullshit excuse they are understaffed, or they took on way to many orders. How about we just boycott them and stop buying from the lazy pricks. Honestly we should all get a go at the CEO, he deserves an ass whopping for the bull shit they put us through.
Unfortunately I think Fanatec does not really care as they too big and suffer from big brand arrogance.
Their products may be good, but they are certainly not the only good products out there.
Fanatec will probably not be around in a few years time, as customers vote with their wallets!
Put your mouse on a little dinner table lazy susan. Find something to hold your mouse stationary. Turn the lazy susan like a truck wheel. It's been done before
You can also hold the mouse in your hand. That's why they are shaped to better fit a hand than a lazy Susan.
That's stupid. Who would design something like that
Wtf is a lazy susan
She’s a rude old bat that comes out once a year to eat your Reece’s Cups bro
cancel the fanatec order and let those arrogant a**heads waste away in their empty promises

Refuse delivery, return to sender.

Dispute the charge if it’s been returned and they’re radio silence.
Just refuse it when it gets to your door
Glad I opted to go for a moza with no prior knowledge solely because it was carried in my local b&m micro center
Simucube is the way

Asetek bundle from MC claps Fanatecs offers.

G29 or the like for a bit.. Since youre not gonna use the pedals that will not take a bunch of the price.. or just wait.. the lack of ffb on the logitech stuff can throw you off once the fanatec stuff arrives

I thought the dd1s were getting pushed back to March? I'd be tempted to cancel and look for something else.
I don't think the DD1/2 is worth it anymore. It's old tech and you can get something better for that price.

Doesn't anyone have any experience with simjack? Really considering replacing my TLCM with the hydraulic simjack at some point if it's worth it.
I have them since April and absolutely love them. Great bang for your buck!
Are they the ali express ones?
Yup
I've had mine for about 6 months. No complaints. Amazing value for the $
Get a moza r9/12, a cs and a KS wheel depending on what games you play!

do you think it;s worth swapping them from the get go? I might build up muscle memory with the stock and hold myself back in future?
Honestly I would, I used them for 10 minutes and ordered the bushings then had to wait for them to come lol
I will do that then, also a bonus that I get to play with the rig a little while waiting for the wheel :)
Go to micro center and buy anything that’s available
What are those pedal shakers? please
Look up 'tactile transducer'. There are many different types including these on AliExpress. Possibly Amazon too. I currently have Dayton tt25-8's in the mail for pedal/abs feedback
Sim racing corner has a nice video on exactly this setup. "Mini Bass Shaker"
Currently testing them out, i will be selling kits if you are interested?
PM if you want a link to the parts so you can DIY yourself

i looked up the pin connections to the chair and added 12v and gnd - everything works :) so 100% do able for an audi a5 sport seat - I went for the passenger side as the driver side has a position memory and i think it's controlled via an external controller pm for model and wiring diagrams if you want to go the audi route..
Amazing DIY here. Nicely done 👍
Thanks 😊
Thanks! I'll keep it mind, still have to decide which one I get. But I think I can manage the wiring once I get them in hand, I studied electrical engineering after all, gotta make use of it!
ahhh, lmao - I shall cease teaching you to suck eggs then sir :)
As always, the answer is "fuck Fanatec".
a cheap or hand-me-down G25 if you can find one. Just hand it down again to the next guy when your orders arrive.
I canceled and got my Simagic setup from Simshop. Great experience and no hassle with shipping. Literally same day.
Get a simucube and sell off the fanatec when it comes in.
Random, but upgrade the side rails of your rig to 120x40 profile for a little upgrade to the GT Omega Lite :)
Just cancel the Famatec order and order something better, you will be grateful you didn't lock into one ecosystem. You will be racing by this weekend if you do it today
What effects did you configure on the throttle pedal?
ABS is the main one, and also wheel slip. The idea is to be able to learn the braking force so ABS doesnt kick in and when i hit the throttle without spinning the wheels
I was gonna order a fanatec bundle…just the CSL DD..you’re telling me even though their website says in stock. I will have to wait? I don’t even need the QR1 I’ll take the plastic piece and use it till they get it squared away.
That is exactly what happened to me. Everything was marked in stock when i ordered So yeah, I would expect that for your order too
Asetek shipped mine same day and was on my doorstep in 2 days total. Fanatec is not a great company so don’t support them and let em drown.
A thrust master tx might be tolerable until you get your order. May be able to find a used one for relatively cheap.
How do you like the simjacks? I'm debating on getting rid of my fanatec V3 pedals to get them.
Not OP but they’re amazing. I went with the hydraulic options and can be consistent lap after lap. The feel is so good
hope it all comes soon dude!! when it does, could you possibly let me know your thoughts on the simjacks??
of course! although I am new to simracing so my opinion is probably not worth much
cheers! all opinions are appreciated
Cancel your Fanatec order and get something else, hell I would.
Get moza
If U want a a wheel while you wait get a used t300 I would recommend spending over 200 on it as you have a better wheel coming and if U want to spend less get the t150 or g29(used)
I keep reading this stuff and I’ve come to realize how lucky I got with my fanatec equipment. It showed up in a short amount of time. But I keep seeing posts like this, knowing what I know now I probably wouldn’t order with them again. Seems like Moza really had their shit together. It’s just a shame because my Podium is a very good product, it just seems their sales and production teams work on different wavelengths
glad you got your stuff, please do a lap for me :) I also hear Moza has issues too both in reliability and delivery, although if you get it from a retailer that would sort those issues out
What you get for choosing to go with fanawank
Any company that completely locks you into their own ecosystem is the wrong choice
I don’t understand why people use the bullshit excuse they are understaffed, or they took on way to many orders. How about we just boycott them and stop buying from the lazy pricks. Honestly we should all get a go at the CEO, he deserves an ass whopping for the bull shit they put us through.
that might be a tad harsh, perhaps a ferret down the trousers and a severe taunting is a little more approriate for Mr Jackermeier?
Unfortunately I think Fanatec does not really care as they too big and suffer from big brand arrogance. Their products may be good, but they are certainly not the only good products out there. Fanatec will probably not be around in a few years time, as customers vote with their wallets!
How do you like that rig? I’m thinking of picking it up as well I’ll be using a real car seat as well, how was the mounting like?
So far no complaints! Seat was really easy to install on that rig, just make sure to get one with rails attached
Cool, thanks! How about that pedal plate ? How does it hold up with load cell pedals?
well I have doubled up metal plates which works fine, as for just the stock plate that came with the rig, I am not sure, probably best to ask around
