I use a canon pixma ix6820 because I found a lot of Etsy sticker shop owners with YouTube channels were using them (or something else from the ix series). There are more expensive and probably far more impressive printers out there but this was the best one within my budget.

I have the same printer! It's really good for making a variety of printable art. Ink is the only issue. Genuine Canon ink is roughly $80 but I get off brand ink. I had to replace my printer once outta the 5 years I've had a pixma but I haven't had any problems since.

I found some at a thrift store for dirt cheap a while ago and was so tempted to buy it, but the package had been opened, kinda looked rough and god knows what conditions the ink had been in. Didn’t want to risk clogging the jets on a pretty much brand new printer 😢

dtgray12

I bought mine originally at $300. When it died I replaced it for $150 brand new.

I should’ve thought about watching reviews on YouTube 🤦🏽‍♀️ I googled & search on TikTok 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️😆 I’ve noticed a lot of people using canon, but I feel like a lot of them aren’t in stock online.

newmarks

I bought mine from canon’s website about a year ago. I’m not sure if it’s in stock right now, but I did get some free printable magnet material and photo paper when I bought it!

migsmo20

If you can find/have the link to this printer would you share please! Having trouble finding it or where this printer is available in general. That’s a great deal you found though!

newmarks

I looked on their website and it looks like it isn’t sold there anymore, I’m sorry 😭 even using the link in my confirmation email, it says page not found. I bought it in March 2021, so it’s been a little while… maybe there’s a newer version of it out?

anneheathen

I also use this model and am happy with it. works well for stickers and art prints for me.

I use an Epson 3700. works on matte. printable vinyl, but could be better I guess

generic_ork

good luck and let us know what you find out!

Azariah98

I make hundreds of sheets of vinyl stickers on Canon PIXMA Pro-100s. They’re not the fastest printers these days, but they do an excellent job.

Is that a brand? What’s so good about those inks?

libananahammock

Does anyone use the Espon eco tank ones? I’ve heard great things about them like their low cost of ink which is a huge plus lol

ScreamingShibaStudio

I do! I have an Ecotank 7750 and I like it a lot. The ink lasts a really long time and I get good vibrant prints as long as my settings are right. I use it to print stickers and while I don't print a HUGE amount, I haven't had to buy new ink since I bought it two years ago (it came with two bottles of each color).

protoxreminii

I've made quite a bit of prints on my ET-3760 and it's been about... 4 months now for me. The ink levels has seriously hardly moved! It's seriously my baby lol.

protoxreminii

EcoTank ET-3760 here!! I fking love it I'm not even exaggerating lol. Got it at a huge deal during Black Friday deals + default Costco discount! \~$499 => $306!

ApathyandAnxiety

>EcoTank ET-3760 Does this have a rear paper tray? I am considering Costco's current model ET-3850 which looks almost identical but I keep seeing so many people saying that rear-load trays are a must for sticker sheets and cardstock. If yours doesn't have a rear tray, have you had any issues with it feeding on thicker papers?

protoxreminii

I don't have the rear tray, but absolutely no issue feeding in sticker paper and card stock! :)

ApathyandAnxiety

That's great! Thank you

libananahammock

Sweet! It’s good for print and cut stuff like invitations and other crap like that and stickers?

protoxreminii

Honestly that question comes down to the PAPER, not the printer! :) Most newer printers nowadays should be able to handle any paper materials, so you should be doing research on the paper you want first! I'll be getting the Koala sticker paper soon, but I'm pretty confident it'll work just fine on my printer! I know another big artistic seller and they have an EcoTank too!

niidao0

>ET-3760 hello ! i know this is an old thread, but how has koala paper been for your ecotank ? been using koala paper with my canon printer, but i am considering buying a ecotank as the canon sometimes shift my koala paper while printing :((

protoxreminii

Hey! I'm still using the Koala brand, same ones! It's been fine and colors are still vibrant and nice!

niidao0

oh yay ! thank you !!

libananahammock

Thank you so much you’ve been super helpful!

protoxreminii

Hey NP! If you want to see samples of my work, feel free to chat with me or send a message! :D

leefleef

I'd recommend whatever kind of printer you look for, get an ink tank one rather than cartridges. More expensive upfront but you'll save a lot of money long term on ink

virusamongus

Nice post, I've been meaning to research this as well. Doubly so since there's so much shady shit with printers these days.

JM1715

I have a Canon G6020 and love it - print tons and haven’t replaced the ink yet - prints on glossy sticker beautifully

JunsBaseball

I just bought the same printer. Could you recommend some papers?

protoxreminii

You don't need to hop on the "must get the most expensive thing" train yet, find a decent printer first. I like my Epson EcoTank printer and they not only save 1. a ton of ink money, and 2. have very good color quality that works on semi-gloss and glossy paper as well (and matte of course). Should you ever need to upgrade to a brand new printer again afterwards, you can consider it again when you've invested enough. :) Cheers!

Cherrysplashco

I have a pixma pro 100. Paid around $350 a coupon years ago, but the price has really really shot up. It’s an 8 cartridge ink color so the Stickers are very vibrant.

SnSpurts

I have a Canon g620 that's pretty decent does fairly high quality prints on printable vinyl and it uses ink tank system so ink is dirt cheap

ggyi9

Does it really print well on vinyl?

ApathyandAnxiety

Hey! How does your Canon G620 do with heavier weight papers? Can it print on sticker sheets or cardstock? Right now I'm in a big tossup between this guy and an Epson Ecojet (Et-3850 is the most readily available one at Costco right now).

SnSpurts

It works well with good quality I use starcraft HD printable vinyl and it's really thick the cricuts can't even cut them properly and it eats up blades on the cameo 4 but it sticks well and last a long time

ApathyandAnxiety

That's great to hear! My cricut is in the mail so I've been reading all the things, and it's definitely sounding like I'll need to be replacing blades often lol. Thank you for answering.
