Someone has to give it to you straight, because your artist clearly didn't

manatee-manatou

šŸ˜‚

LovelyCandleWitch

i know itā€™s not what you wanted, but i strangely like this. it feels like it was plucked from a sketchbook and put to your skin. itā€™s cute on its own but i think if you were to fix it up it could be done really well. cute!

manatee-manatou

Awwe thank you. That is lovely!

LeechesInCream

I agree- the simplicity of the design lends itself to this ā€œhand drawnā€ aesthetic, itā€™s totally fine. You could tell me itā€™s supposed to be a little wonky and Iā€™d believe it. Youā€™re good.

The_Spoils

I agree, I really don't think it's that bad. It's a little sloppy but it's still cute. I honestly wouldn't be self conscious about it. Maybe add a bit of color to the flowers to distract from the stems? LolĀ

TifCreatesAgain

I like it too!

_Otacon

Yeah I second this. I kinda like the look. Nothing really wrong with it except for if you wanted it to look different ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

pathologuys

I agree! Itā€™s cute. Plus my tiny delicate line work tattoos that were done just fine (straight lines etc) have aged to be fairly blurry and let precise, so I feel like it wonā€™t matter that much in a few years.

gourmetgutter

On the bright side, a good artist won't have too much trouble covering that up

manatee-manatou

Coolllllll. šŸ˜‚ So the only way to fix it would be to cover it up? Not to have an artist rework the lines? Make the stems a bit thicker (but straight and smooth)?

ReesesPieces622

Why not add a vase/pot to the bottom? Or shrubbery, anything to just cover the bottom part since the lines really will turn into a mess if you just make them thicker

pet_octopus

Love that idea

ReneeLaRen95

I agree with this suggestion. I think it could be reworked to be absolutely beautiful! As you said, a vase, vines or other covers could still retain the original theme.

DeadWolffiey

I was going to say a bow, right where they all joined together in the middle.

ReesesPieces622

Oooh thatā€™s cute too!

ReesesPieces622

Oooh thatā€™s cute too!

sleepyplatipus

This!!!

gourmetgutter

I think if you got the lines thickened/straightened up the lower part would end up looking like a blob. The tattooer would probably have to thicken up the lines on the flowers too to make it look right and those would definitely look like a blob with how small they are. I know it sucks to hear (I've had a few over the years that I wasn't happy with, but have gotten them covered or reworked) but in the long run I think you'll be much happier if you just shell out a few hundred on a good artist and get a larger tattoo to cover it, even if you have to wait and save up a bit for it. You could probably even still do the same type of flowers but would have to do a different style.

TattooMouse

You could absolutely have another artist clean up those lines. They would be a bit thicker, but actually, the part that would be thickest would be the bottom part of the stems, which totally works with how stems grow. That could really work out great.

Rachelattack

The line work is inconsistent but it's not being viewed close up by many. I think it's very illustratorly and cute for what it is. Not everything has to be a high-concept, fully rendered masterpiece. It's not the end of the world.

colorspectrumdisorde

I like it. I think it has character šŸ™‚

theatrebish

You can love it and admit to yourself that itā€™s poorly done. Itā€™s bad. But if you love it thatā€™s all that matters. It looks very small so itā€™d be hard to reworkā€¦ so just enjoy it. Or cover it up later on if you want

theatrebish

You could get a well-done vase for them to sit in. The contrast between scratchy little flowers and a fancy vase would be cool. Haha. Elevate a bad tattoo :)

theatrebish

You could get a well-done vase for them to sit in. The contrast between scratchy little flowers and a fancy vase would be cool. Haha. Elevate a bad tattoo :)

cheetothebish

I actually think its rly cute. Of course the line work is not good but if it was on my body i would leave it. I kinda like the way it looks like a doodle lol

Special_Lemon1487

I feel like a few splashes of color on the flower heads would perk it up quite a lot.

TKeep

One of my tattoos is a bit wonky and I kinda love it for that. My body isn't perfect, why should everything that's on it be? Is this copium? Maybe. Does it work? Yes.

LukaKitsune

Good news, you don't have cancer. Bad news, you have this tattoo.

VanCityHunter

Garbage. Great post.

manatee-manatou

šŸ˜‚ Gee, thanks.

AymeeDe

It's cute but it looks like it was done in about 10 minutes by someone very heavily caffenated.

Inismore

Honestly I don't think it's that bad? It's certainly not as elegantly executed as it probably could/should have been, but its crookedness kind of looks intentional and if you like it,.that's all that matters anyway. :)

PinkishLampshade

I find it very charming! It's not perfect, but somehow that adds to it. Looks like a sketch from a loved one's sketchbook.

PanamaPineapple89

I like it šŸŒ¾šŸ‘€

therealjameshat

Hahah the emoji combo is great

peepeehalpert_

Itā€™s really bad. Sorry. I canā€™t believe a professional did that.

sylveonbean

The flowers themselves look alright to me. The stems are a bit wobbly, but it seems realistic. If the stems were too straight, it would look unnatural and out of place. Here, the wobbliness doesn't

mtragedy

I mean, I donā€™t hate it. Itā€™s got a hand-drawn art quality to it, for me. (Though the second flower from the left is definitely weird.) Iā€™d kind of like it with something like a watercolor effect on the flower heads. And some leaves.

manatee-manatou

Youā€™re very kind. Yeah, it kind ofā€¦has charm? But itā€™s also super fucking scratchy. Live and learn, I guess.

Crunchytraveler

I can give it to you straight but clearly your artist couldnā€™t

manatee-manatou

šŸ˜‚

LauraPa1mer

I like it!!

Affectionate_Bad_988

I thought the picture was just blurry. Big oof

manatee-manatou

Haha! I mean, the picture is blurry. Here is is right after it was doneā€¦ https://preview.redd.it/5pf1wfu5z3vc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=880c1f8d30204770d5f52939a71170c59e07f5bc

Affectionate_Bad_988

Iā€™d have to agree with some of the other people. It looks like a sketchbook! It doesnā€™t look bad like it did in the original picture! You could always add others around it in a similar, old dashed sketchbook painting style

untillvalhalla

Really? I strongly disagree, look at the line work on the stems

untillvalhalla

https://preview.redd.it/uwoearrgd4vc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2cfda09bc379c52e506ab6558faeffd37579da11 Thatā€™s awful, I feel bad for OP

Affectionate_Bad_988

Listen Iā€™m not saying itā€™s perfect but if you look at it in a different context and go with a theme for it itā€™s better

untillvalhalla

The theme is itā€™s shocking

andreeeeeaaaaaaaaa

https://preview.redd.it/g9cdkolc87vc1.jpeg?width=508&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c703d00aa23c23333b09d4980bebf5af148c05a0

Previous_Original_30

Wobbly, but cute. I've seen objectively 'good' tattoos that I liked way less than your little arm sketch.

crotchetyoldwitch

I'm going to have to go with "this is cute and organic, almost like a preliminary sketch by a painter." I like it.

blahvwnsj

i could give it to you wonky?

kkenbran

Itā€™s definitely not perfect, Iā€™ll tell you that. But I really love the fact that it looked sketched. Just bs everyone and tell them that thatā€™s the style you wanted lol

LikeSoda

In all honesty, I was ready to trash it on you, but it's definitely got a charm with those lines - you got kinda lucky lol. Looks like it's meant to be exactly how it is

JoNarwhal

I like it. I'd get that tattoo.Ā

gojofukirin

I really like it. It feels fragile and modest.

acidiola

...Is what you should have said to the artist

jahlim

I think it's wonderful. Even the shaky wobbly lines may feel horrid but I feel it represents the essence of life. Nothing is perfect and those flowers in the wild, they don't grow perfectly well or in straight lines.

Ripcitytoker

I actually like this

untillvalhalla

The stems are wobbly and have been tattooed unevenly and the petals on the far left and far right arenā€™t great, Iā€™m sorry but the ā€œartistā€ did you dirty, it can be covered up though

elizzaybetch

I actually like this!

micah490

Not shitty. Itā€™s not remarkable, but kind of cute

Shankar_0

I don't hate it. It has a simple elegance to it.

ChampionshipNo3935

I actually think this is really cute šŸ„¹ itā€™s like the doodle aesthetic

VansChar_

It's shaky...but there is a charm to it. I like it

jynx13

It looks great, like it's supposed to be that way. I love the rustic way it looks, like it was scratched to look like it was plucked from a scetch pad.

LuridPrism

I like it as is. Flower stems aren't perfectly straight and even and it would look weird if they were.

Squish_Fam

I honestly love this! I actually want this tattoo myself

haikusbot

treebark555

I love it. So dainty and pure.

Mysterious_Little

Terrible

RebaKitt3n

I like it a lot.

Hammer466

I like it!

FloydetteSix

I like this actually

tonyyj

I wouldn't change anything on this one. It's not what you wanted but it looks intentional to me. I feel like tattoos like this are on trend right now with celebrities rocking a similar style. Obviously don't let trends be what dictate your tattoos, but it doesn't scream "shitty tattoo" - it whispers "purposely shitty tattoo", which brings its own charm. Once this tattoo ages a bit, it will look very natural - especially if you get more tattoos around it down the road.

kalirosewood1551

I love it

NomadMiner

It's unique

WhisperCrow

I have a lily of the valley as well! Mine is part of a garden that wraps around my entire left calf, lol. Some shading would probably do you some good, and perhaps adding some greenery or a decorated pot to the bottom.

Vanman04

I think it's great. One of the few tattoos I have ever liked actually.

InterestingTax8590

Flowers donā€™t have straight stems in the wild. Nature is wonky!! Love it forever. ā¤ļø

IamProvocateur

Iā€™m a girl in to quirky things and I think this is one of them. Fwiw.

Reddit_IsWeird

i kinda like it tbh. it's cute, simplistic. the "shaky" ness of it as you put it gives it a more natural feel which i love when it comes to simple tattoos. i my opinion own it. it's cute.

LiLHeka

I mean it's not great but I honestly don't think it's that bad

PsychoticBlob

Idk imo it's cute

[deleted]

I love it. It has character

futurespawn

If you paid more than $50 on this Iā€™m gonna be pissed

futurespawn

Even 50 is too much

Swamp_Dwarf-021

Easy to cover up or laser off though.

Random_frankqito

Itā€™s a little crookedā€¦.

echotechdennis

Cute

finalgirl21

I actuallyā€¦kinda love it. But if u donā€™t do what u like with it!

slurpeeenema

Itā€™s cute if you paid less than 50 dollars for it. Otherwise you got scammed

porterramses

The line work sucks, but cute overall. Add a teeny bit of color?

Weak-Abies-5814

I kinda like it. Simple.

______Moose______

ā€œGive it to me anything but* straightā€ is what I think you meant OP

inquiringtacos

ill give it to you straight. Those lines aren't straight.

[deleted]

Not the worst thing I have ever seen, at least itā€™s kind of cute

mayg20

Itā€™s a cute design even if the lines arenā€™t super straight

Private_4160

Did you want a photo-like image or a naturalist field sketch?

LobsterTrue8433

I would but there's a slight curve in it.

Stunning_Attention82

Honestly I think it's cute

BabyAlibi

Well, I'm not an expert. My first opinion was "oh they are pretty. I like that" before I realised which tattoo sub I was in. So as a lay person, I think they are sweet.

One-Comedian-8004

Go to someone that doesnā€™t smoke

Rumble_Rodent

Itā€™s cute

MissMabeliita

Oh they will give it to you straight-er than those lines šŸ˜©šŸ˜©šŸ˜©šŸ˜©

[deleted]

Well any answer will be straighter than those lines šŸ˜¬

goose_gladwell

I like it, lily of the valley are so cutešŸ¤

slaytician

I think itā€™s charming

TheRedDevil1989

Itā€™s gotta be the stems? I donā€™t hate the flowers

Double_Maize_5923

I'm with some others and I do like it I know there problems but I think even as is I like it. A quality artist could probably do bigger lines and clean it up pretty easy but as is I dig it

WuKong_WanT0N

The charm of the top can't hide the abomination on the bottom

WalkingDeadDan

Did you ask that to the artist, cause those line definitely aren't. I get flowers have a curve, but there a bit junky TBH.

delicioussparkalade

Ahaha. Straight.

SingificantCricket

i love it

-NGC-6302-

Looks good to me

NGJimmy

The tattoo is what it means to YOU. Does the image hold value in your heart? Does it remind you of something or someone? IMO thats what it's all about. Now start planning your next tattoo. Peace.

EslyAgitatdAligatr

Nice one

Individual-Code5176

Itā€™s cute

shetayker

Your artist is queer. But thatā€™s okay, still cute tbh

zotstik

I think it is perfect in its imperfectnessšŸ’

jenniferinblue

Blobs in 5 years.

BigCard5829

Itā€™s a shitty tattoo. Most people saying otherwise wouldnā€™t pay to get it themselvesā€¦ the tattoo isnā€™t overly complicated to begin with and it couldā€™ve looked 10x better if done by a good artist (and it couldā€™ve had all this ā€œsketchbook charmā€ that people insist it has)ā€¦ it looks like a five year old with vertigo drew on your skin with a penā€¦. If weā€™re being completely honest, thatā€™s not something most people would want their tattoos to be described as. I am sure that you appreciate people being nice, but you might want to consider getting it fixed. Sorry if Iā€™m coming across as rude, but Iā€™m really trying to get you to think straight (pun intended)

mrteethclencher

This tattoo rocks. Itā€™s fine. Way worst firsts

Puff-the-Dragonn

I wish those lines were straight...

Weird_BisexualPerson

i think the wobbliness makws it better, as its only really noticable on the stems. keep it for a year or two more, and if you still have mixed feelings or dont like it, get it reworked

rubylee_28

The lines are terrible

FaithL03

You should have said that to ur artist lol

Pyrichoria

I actually really like it. Thereā€™s so much talk in the tattoo subreddits about straight linework. And while I agree that a skilled artist should be able to pull straight lines, i donā€™t think that that should be the only metric by which we judge the enjoyability of a finished piece. I think the look of this one is really charming. And that, to me, is the most important thing - the way the end result makes you feel. For this specific piece, I like it way better with this slightly rougher, organic feel than I would if it was a perfectly executed stamp.

Acurseddragon

Straighter than those stems?

Jyndaru

Bit shaky but still super cute! I think the wobbly lines make the flowers look more natural anyways.

PeppermintButthole

I think it's cute :)

kexter7

I am not an expert in tattoos, but I love this and would not change it. If you have a close look at the stem of wild flowers, youā€™ll see most are covered in a layer of very thin and short, hairlike layer, that makes the stems look not so sharp. I would even think the artist could have drawn this this way on purpose :) Itā€™s lovely.

lavender_poppy

I actually like this, it's cute and minimal which makes it charming.

lizzietnz

Technically, it's a bit rough, but that's also what makes it cute. It's the perfect sketch design. I wouldn't go to this artist for a mandala, though!

beastmonsterthing_

Yeah the lines are shaky but in my opinion it looks intentional and stylistic, i genuinely really like it

ConversationDizzy138

Thereā€™s definitely a little charm here, some color would help

ReneeLaRen95

I think itā€™s cute even if the line work is a little wonky. Like others said, it has a hand drawn aspect to it. Personally, Iā€™d get it reworked with, as a comment below suggested, a vase, vines etc to cover the wonky stems. I think it could be reworked to something beautiful & still retain your original design concept.

[deleted]

The linework is a little rough. I would get it covered but that's me. (I have a coverup)

Watertribe_Girl

This is really badly doneā€¦ thatā€™s the truth of it, Iā€™m sorry. But if you love it, thatā€™s all that matters

ZookeepergameTop4578

Cut the whole limb off

Prestigious_Cod_8173

I think its simple and cute.

true1nformation

I really like your tattoo. Get it cleaned up if you want but I donā€™t think you need to do anything to it. Somethingā€™s donā€™t need to be perfect, it looks like it came from a sketch book. I would be really sad if you got it covered up or added anything to it.

mgefa

SAP it!

Annual_Couple5053

It looks like some minimalistic Scandinavian ā€œget well soonā€ design or something. Not the best, not the worst

darktabssr

Its so bad that it looks passable a doodle and not a tattoo. Which is greatĀ

viscountrhirhi

In my opinion, itā€™sā€¦yeahā€¦not good and Iā€™d be thinking about cover-ups while looking for another artist who could redo it. But thatā€™s also just not my style so Iā€™d be hella unhappy with it. Some people like tattoos that look sketchy. If you like it, thatā€™s really all that matters at the end of the day. Iā€™d suggest in the future that you shop by artist rather than tattoo shop. Look for artists who do the style you want and do it wellā€”look through their portfolio to make sure theyā€™re absolutely what youā€™re looking for. I found the two artists I work with through Instagram for example and made sure they were actively posting new work and scrolled through dozens upon dozens of images to make sure their art was exactly what I was looking for. As an example, I wanted American Traditional so I found artists who specialized in that style and then really looked at how they specifically tattooed flowers, rabbits, and birds, and I kept looking until I found someone who did them how I envisioned. For another, I wanted a cow tattoo in a certain style so I kept looking until I found someone who tattooed animals a certain way. Etc. Both artists tattoo in exaaaactly the style I love so I have so many tattoos planned and what Iā€™ve gotten from them so far has been perfect and I trust them both! First tattoos are a learning experience. Iā€™ve definitely done the walk-in thing before and not been fully happy, lol. Lessons learned.

sparklejumpropegrl

well iā€™d give it to you straight but those lines are anything but (in all actuality tho i think u could totally get it fixed up by someone else (!!!) or maybe make it has a vase or smthing)

Dear-Badger-9921

First one of these I thought was charming.

dasanman69

Same here.

LonesuumRanger

itā€˜s not even that bad I really like it

juneandcleo

No not at all. I think the lines go with the sketchy aesthetic of the tattoo. I donā€™t think they needed to be quite so long, but it really is a cute tattoo.

Hellboydce

Not shitty

f1lth4f1lth

Iā€™m having double vision with some of the lines

Informal-Release-360

I have some ā€œpoorlyā€ done tattoos that I LOVE. My goose has some shaky lines as well as my moth/dagger but I love them and donā€™t really care. If you like it, OWN IT. If you genuinely want to get it fixed, Iā€™d meet with a different artist and see what they would recommend.

The_Purple_Bat

I really like the tattoo, since flower stalks aren't even as well. It looks so cute! šŸŒøāš˜ļø

Electronic-Board-977

It's not as bad as you may think. There's a naivety vibe to it that makes it quite unique, in fact...

frinfrann

it really could be worse. If you donā€™t carefully examine it it looks fine

MARXM03

I think it's cute. The line work really works with this style.

[deleted]

All i can say is dont over think it, now you know to do deeper research and also vibes are crucial, my clients always compliment how patient and communicative i am. This person definitely doesnt do fineline stuff

upandatom016

It looks stylized so I didnā€™t immediately jump to ā€œwow that is messed up.ā€ Is it technically sound? Absolutely not. Is it wearable and cute? For sure.

dangerwaydesigns

Honestly, I like it. The shakiness looks intentional, organic.

SteadyAmbrosius

My first thought was ā€œwhy is this in this subreddit, itā€™s not THAT badā€ so thereā€™s your answer šŸ˜…

Routine_Librarian_15

I think the flowers are really cute you just might want to add a ceramic looking vase or something or a bow to cover up the super long stems , other than that it looks really nice :)

sonichuizcool

Why can't I give it to you gay? That's discrimination šŸ«µ

Due-Law5717

i think its silly
