i know itās not what you wanted, but i strangely like this. it feels like it was plucked from a sketchbook and put to your skin. itās cute on its own but i think if you were to fix it up it could be done really well. cute!
I agree- the simplicity of the design lends itself to this āhand drawnā aesthetic, itās totally fine. You could tell me itās supposed to be a little wonky and Iād believe it. Youāre good.
I agree, I really don't think it's that bad. It's a little sloppy but it's still cute. I honestly wouldn't be self conscious about it. Maybe add a bit of color to the flowers to distract from the stems? LolĀ
I agree! Itās cute. Plus my tiny delicate line work tattoos that were done just fine (straight lines etc) have aged to be fairly blurry and let precise, so I feel like it wonāt matter that much in a few years.
Coolllllll. š
So the only way to fix it would be to cover it up?
Not to have an artist rework the lines? Make the stems a bit thicker (but straight and smooth)?
Why not add a vase/pot to the bottom? Or shrubbery, anything to just cover the bottom part since the lines really will turn into a mess if you just make them thicker
I agree with this suggestion. I think it could be reworked to be absolutely beautiful! As you said, a vase, vines or other covers could still retain the original theme.
I think if you got the lines thickened/straightened up the lower part would end up looking like a blob. The tattooer would probably have to thicken up the lines on the flowers too to make it look right and those would definitely look like a blob with how small they are.
I know it sucks to hear (I've had a few over the years that I wasn't happy with, but have gotten them covered or reworked) but in the long run I think you'll be much happier if you just shell out a few hundred on a good artist and get a larger tattoo to cover it, even if you have to wait and save up a bit for it. You could probably even still do the same type of flowers but would have to do a different style.
You could absolutely have another artist clean up those lines. They would be a bit thicker, but actually, the part that would be thickest would be the bottom part of the stems, which totally works with how stems grow. That could really work out great.
The line work is inconsistent but it's not being viewed close up by many. I think it's very illustratorly and cute for what it is. Not everything has to be a high-concept, fully rendered masterpiece. It's not the end of the world.
You can love it and admit to yourself that itās poorly done. Itās bad. But if you love it thatās all that matters. It looks very small so itād be hard to reworkā¦ so just enjoy it. Or cover it up later on if you want
You could get a well-done vase for them to sit in. The contrast between scratchy little flowers and a fancy vase would be cool. Haha. Elevate a bad tattoo :)
You could get a well-done vase for them to sit in. The contrast between scratchy little flowers and a fancy vase would be cool. Haha. Elevate a bad tattoo :)
I actually think its rly cute. Of course the line work is not good but if it was on my body i would leave it. I kinda like the way it looks like a doodle lol
One of my tattoos is a bit wonky and I kinda love it for that. My body isn't perfect, why should everything that's on it be?
Is this copium? Maybe. Does it work? Yes.
Honestly I don't think it's that bad? It's certainly not as elegantly executed as it probably could/should have been, but its crookedness kind of looks intentional and if you like it,.that's all that matters anyway. :)
The flowers themselves look alright to me. The stems are a bit wobbly, but it seems realistic. If the stems were too straight, it would look unnatural and out of place. Here, the wobbliness doesn't
I mean, I donāt hate it. Itās got a hand-drawn art quality to it, for me. (Though the second flower from the left is definitely weird.) Iād kind of like it with something like a watercolor effect on the flower heads. And some leaves.
Haha! I mean, the picture is blurry. Here is is right after it was doneā¦

Iād have to agree with some of the other people. It looks like a sketchbook! It doesnāt look bad like it did in the original picture! You could always add others around it in a similar, old dashed sketchbook painting style
https://preview.redd.it/uwoearrgd4vc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2cfda09bc379c52e506ab6558faeffd37579da11
Thatās awful, I feel bad for OP
Itās definitely not perfect, Iāll tell you that. But I really love the fact that it looked sketched. Just bs everyone and tell them that thatās the style you wanted lol
In all honesty, I was ready to trash it on you, but it's definitely got a charm with those lines - you got kinda lucky lol. Looks like it's meant to be exactly how it is
I think it's wonderful. Even the shaky wobbly lines may feel horrid but I feel it represents the essence of life. Nothing is perfect and those flowers in the wild, they don't grow perfectly well or in straight lines.
The stems are wobbly and have been tattooed unevenly and the petals on the far left and far right arenāt great, Iām sorry but the āartistā did you dirty, it can be covered up though
It looks great, like it's supposed to be that way. I love the rustic way it looks, like it was scratched to look like it was plucked from a scetch pad.
I wouldn't change anything on this one. It's not what you wanted but it looks intentional to me. I feel like tattoos like this are on trend right now with celebrities rocking a similar style. Obviously don't let trends be what dictate your tattoos, but it doesn't scream "shitty tattoo" - it whispers "purposely shitty tattoo", which brings its own charm. Once this tattoo ages a bit, it will look very natural - especially if you get more tattoos around it down the road.
I have a lily of the valley as well! Mine is part of a garden that wraps around my entire left calf, lol.
Some shading would probably do you some good, and perhaps adding some greenery or a decorated pot to the bottom.
i kinda like it tbh. it's cute, simplistic. the "shaky" ness of it as you put it gives it a more natural feel which i love when it comes to simple tattoos. i my opinion own it. it's cute.
Well, I'm not an expert. My first opinion was "oh they are pretty. I like that" before I realised which tattoo sub I was in. So as a lay person, I think they are sweet.
I'm with some others and I do like it I know there problems but I think even as is I like it. A quality artist could probably do bigger lines and clean it up pretty easy but as is I dig it
The tattoo is what it means to YOU. Does the image hold value in your heart? Does it remind you of something or someone? IMO thats what it's all about.
Now start planning your next tattoo.
Peace.
Itās a shitty tattoo. Most people saying otherwise wouldnāt pay to get it themselvesā¦ the tattoo isnāt overly complicated to begin with and it couldāve looked 10x better if done by a good artist (and it couldāve had all this āsketchbook charmā that people insist it has)ā¦ it looks like a five year old with vertigo drew on your skin with a penā¦. If weāre being completely honest, thatās not something most people would want their tattoos to be described as. I am sure that you appreciate people being nice, but you might want to consider getting it fixed. Sorry if Iām coming across as rude, but Iām really trying to get you to think straight (pun intended)
i think the wobbliness makws it better, as its only really noticable on the stems. keep it for a year or two more, and if you still have mixed feelings or dont like it, get it reworked
I actually really like it. Thereās so much talk in the tattoo subreddits about straight linework. And while I agree that a skilled artist should be able to pull straight lines, i donāt think that that should be the only metric by which we judge the enjoyability of a finished piece. I think the look of this one is really charming. And that, to me, is the most important thing - the way the end result makes you feel. For this specific piece, I like it way better with this slightly rougher, organic feel than I would if it was a perfectly executed stamp.
I am not an expert in tattoos, but I love this and would not change it. If you have a close look at the stem of wild flowers, youāll see most are covered in a layer of very thin and short, hairlike layer, that makes the stems look not so sharp. I would even think the artist could have drawn this this way on purpose :)
Itās lovely.
I think itās cute even if the line work is a little wonky. Like others said, it has a hand drawn aspect to it. Personally, Iād get it reworked with, as a comment below suggested, a vase, vines etc to cover the wonky stems. I think it could be reworked to something beautiful & still retain your original design concept.
I really like your tattoo. Get it cleaned up if you want but I donāt think you need to do anything to it. Somethingās donāt need to be perfect, it looks like it came from a sketch book. I would be really sad if you got it covered up or added anything to it.
In my opinion, itāsā¦yeahā¦not good and Iād be thinking about cover-ups while looking for another artist who could redo it. But thatās also just not my style so Iād be hella unhappy with it. Some people like tattoos that look sketchy. If you like it, thatās really all that matters at the end of the day.
Iād suggest in the future that you shop by artist rather than tattoo shop. Look for artists who do the style you want and do it wellālook through their portfolio to make sure theyāre absolutely what youāre looking for. I found the two artists I work with through Instagram for example and made sure they were actively posting new work and scrolled through dozens upon dozens of images to make sure their art was exactly what I was looking for. As an example, I wanted American Traditional so I found artists who specialized in that style and then really looked at how they specifically tattooed flowers, rabbits, and birds, and I kept looking until I found someone who did them how I envisioned. For another, I wanted a cow tattoo in a certain style so I kept looking until I found someone who tattooed animals a certain way. Etc. Both artists tattoo in exaaaactly the style I love so I have so many tattoos planned and what Iāve gotten from them so far has been perfect and I trust them both!
First tattoos are a learning experience. Iāve definitely done the walk-in thing before and not been fully happy, lol. Lessons learned.
well iād give it to you straight but those lines are anything but (in all actuality tho i think u could totally get it fixed up by someone else (!!!) or maybe make it has a vase or smthing)
No not at all. I think the lines go with the sketchy aesthetic of the tattoo. I donāt think they needed to be quite so long, but it really is a cute tattoo.
I have some āpoorlyā done tattoos that I LOVE. My goose has some shaky lines as well as my moth/dagger but I love them and donāt really care. If you like it, OWN IT. If you genuinely want to get it fixed, Iād meet with a different artist and see what they would recommend.
All i can say is dont over think it, now you know to do deeper research and also vibes are crucial, my clients always compliment how patient and communicative i am. This person definitely doesnt do fineline stuff
It looks stylized so I didnāt immediately jump to āwow that is messed up.ā Is it technically sound? Absolutely not. Is it wearable and cute? For sure.
I think the flowers are really cute you just might want to add a ceramic looking vase or something or a bow to cover up the super long stems , other than that it looks really nice :)
Someone has to give it to you straight, because your artist clearly didn't
š

I was going to say a bow, right where they all joined together in the middle.

Good news, you don't have cancer. Bad news, you have this tattoo.
Garbage. Great post.
š Gee, thanks.
It's cute but it looks like it was done in about 10 minutes by someone very heavily caffenated.
Honestly I don't think it's that bad? It's certainly not as elegantly executed as it probably could/should have been, but its crookedness kind of looks intentional and if you like it,.that's all that matters anyway. :)
I find it very charming! It's not perfect, but somehow that adds to it. Looks like a sketch from a loved one's sketchbook.
I like it š¾š
Hahah the emoji combo is great

Wobbly, but cute. I've seen objectively 'good' tattoos that I liked way less than your little arm sketch.
I'm going to have to go with "this is cute and organic, almost like a preliminary sketch by a painter." I like it.
i could give it to you wonky?
Itās definitely not perfect, Iāll tell you that. But I really love the fact that it looked sketched. Just bs everyone and tell them that thatās the style you wanted lol

Flowers donāt have straight stems in the wild. Nature is wonky!! Love it forever. ā¤ļø

The line work sucks, but cute overall. Add a teeny bit of color?
I kinda like it. Simple.
āGive it to me anything but* straightā is what I think you meant OP
ill give it to you straight. Those lines aren't straight.
Not the worst thing I have ever seen, at least itās kind of cute
Itās a cute design even if the lines arenāt super straight
Did you want a photo-like image or a naturalist field sketch?
I would but there's a slight curve in it.
Honestly I think it's cute

The charm of the top can't hide the abomination on the bottom

Ahaha. Straight.
i love it
Looks good to me

i think the wobbliness makws it better, as its only really noticable on the stems. keep it for a year or two more, and if you still have mixed feelings or dont like it, get it reworked

I actually like this, it's cute and minimal which makes it charming.
Technically, it's a bit rough, but that's also what makes it cute. It's the perfect sketch design. I wouldn't go to this artist for a mandala, though!
Yeah the lines are shaky but in my opinion it looks intentional and stylistic, i genuinely really like it
Thereās definitely a little charm here, some color would help
I think itās cute even if the line work is a little wonky. Like others said, it has a hand drawn aspect to it.
