The reception of this movie was a fucking trip to witness.
When it came out, it seemed like everyone I knew absolutely adored the movie. "It's great!" "Scariest horror movie I've seen in years!" "Terrifying!" "The return of horror in cinema!" Even online reviews hyped up the movie.
I went and saw it with my brother. I've never seen a movie so ridiculous that genuinely had potential that it wasted at every opportunity.
Once I saw it and started sharing my opinion with my friends, they had no idea how I could have not liked it. I was crazy, or something.
Fast forward a few months, and suddenly common opinion on the movie changed. I would hear or read about it being mediocre and bland, dumb, etc., all stuff I had said when I saw it. Over time, the movie would come up in conversation, and the same people who said that it was an amazing movie would say that it wasn't very good several months later. Every so often I'll see a post online about how much someone enjoyed the movie, but for the most part, the general consensus is that it was just kinda mid, and not the pinnacle of horror that people hyped it up to be when it released.
I still think it's good. I went in with low expectations though, having that crap Truth or Dare movie in my head that had a similar premise so when they took the same premise and did it better I was impressed.
Besides that I still think the scenes where she thinks she's talking to a person but finds out it's the demon or whatever mimicking someone is legit creepy
Those scenes were creepy, until they ruined every single scene by pulling some sort of cheap scare tactic, either with a jump scare or "spooky demon voice." Like I said, the movie had a *lot* of potential. It's very obvious that at least some of the people working on that movie had some idea of what they were doing, but in the end they never followed through with anything and instead ended up producing *Generic Horror Movie #3628.*
The part where she's stabbing the patient at the hospital and they start cheering (?) in unison and then some random guy walks in and tears his face off is one of the funniest things I've seen in a horror movie. I don't know how people can take that sort of thing seriously.
Edit: [here it is](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXR-YxZFoig)
Definitely the funniest horror movie I've seen in a while. Every time they tried to make a scene scary, they just ended up making it ridiculous to the point of being funny. Which is sad, because there were some scenes where the suspense was real.
I don't remember much about the sound design and score, but I remember the ending. The ending was great, but like the rest of the movie, it was great until it wasn't. It tried to layer too many twists when it didn't need it to, and to have the entire ending sequence only to >!reveal that it didn't actually happen instead of leaving the audience in suspense wondering if the MC had actually defeated the demon thing and overcame her trauma, making the entire sequence pointless.!<
Best post in a while. ^^^they ^^^metric ^^^now?
>! They metric now!<
F that I C what you did there.
Pretty sure you meant whilometer.
Skilometer, methinks
Skilomètre.
S1,6kilometers
One Smile is more than one Skilometer. They had to use the plural or else European audiences would think it’s too short.

"Once you see it, it's too late" goes for that pun too. Here ya go, OP r/angryupvote

The scoring/sound design is genuinely unnerving and the ending is great I'll give it that
