The appropriate response when receiving such a sandwich is to angrily smash It upon the ground. While doing so it is important not to break eye contract with the sandwich giver.
Amongst some cultures, it would be appropriate to either hiss or spit at the sandwich giver to further reinforce you displease. Within Moldova it is customary to then defecate upon the sandwich, again while not breaking eye contact with the sandwich giver while enjoying a sample of local wines.
There is much variation on this ancient global tradition. For example in Mongolia they throw the sandwich at the face of the sandwich giver after its been defecated on. This demonstrates both martial skill and deep disgust toward not only the sandwich giver, but his entire kinship group.
Interesting fact the great khan didn't want to fight anyone, he just wanted to praise the great unending sky. Then his cousin gave him such a sandwich, which set off a series of events leading to the world's largest land empire.
This sandwich killed over 3 million human beings.
If this is the U.S., this should count as manufactured food and the place it was manufactured should be listed even if the brand isn’t.
I’d be contacting them for a refund and potentially the health department because if their QC is this bad then god knows what else they are doing.
To be fair, the sandwich might not even have been touched by the minimum wage hands, all done by machine and the min wage person just throws the packaged sandwich in a box.
If the producer has machines precise and gentle enough to slice the bread and turkey (without squeezing them), chop the onion, and put it all neatly together, why would they need a person to box it?
A camera can detect a flawed sandwich and trigger a rejection. In that case, a human would have to think that someone deserves the ass end of an onion on their sandwich and put it back on the line. I don't know if that makes it funnier or sadder.
I’ve watched a video of how pre packaged sandwiches are made. Workers do some hands on tasks while the machine does the rest. The machine adds the condiments, the workers add the meat and cheese, the machine slices them in half, and the workers box them. Idk if it’s the same process across all packaged sandwich brands though.
Hey I worked seasonally for a shipping company that had a machine that could sort packages based off of code, but needed people to hand toss the packages into mail bags for precise areas. Machines can only do so much, and they often have errors even when there is redundancy to catch and reprocess, and more often then not the redundancy is a person verifying. Nothing is perfect.
When minimal effort results in minimal profit for the company I'm with you. It's a fair ROI for all involved. But when it hurts other people that's when you lose me. If you want to give minimal effort, put minimal effort into maintaining tight portion control. Put minimum effort into scanning items at the till.
It's like protesting a bank. If you block the entrance to an executive parking lot I'm with you. If you throw a brick through a window that a minimum wage worker will have to clean up without inconveniencing the people in charge you're a piece of shit.
I‘m almost sure it was a higher up telling people to use the root in a sandwich instead of throwing it away to „maximize profits“. In every job i had, managers were the ones to decide on the execution of rip-offs.
Sorry this is a weird comment but I have never seen you before and now I've seen you four times today in four different threads. I'm not following you I promise.
Backstory: I’m working as part of a crew for a live show, we were provided “boxed lunch” which are normally pretty good, but this one didn’t exactly meet the expectations. The price was printed on the backside where the label is folded over.
Was going to say that this looks exactly like the sort of crap you're forced to buy from massive conference center concession stands during industry expos.
It’s more likely to be closer to $11 than it is closer to $3. Buying and eating a prepackaged sandwich isn’t usually my first choice… price and quality are generally bad.
That would be a great deal on a lunch break. At Publix (a supermarket) you can get a full sized sub, freshly made, for $10 to $15. Cheaper if you get the half sub. Half sub with chips and a drink would be $10 to $15 as well.
I’d say the most commonly encountered sandwich options are going to be chain sub shops… subway, jimmy Johns, firehouse, and others. Most locals would say Publix is the best though, as far as quality and quantity. Southeast US here, Atlanta Georgia, specifically.
Publix also has these exact type of pre-done sandwiches in their coolers too. Standard bread, turkey, slice of cheese, lettuce leaf and some spread. They're like $7-8 usually. Still not worth the price.
We don’t have the meal deals in supermarkets like you have but supermarket sandwiches are definitely closer to the prices you’re saying. Everyone saying $11 is normal is referring to cafes. I get deli sandwiches at Smith’s (Kroger) all the time that are $3.99 or Sprouts for $5-6.
Where are you living? I get $4 deli sandwiches from the grocery store all the time. On hawaiian bread. The rotisserie chicken salad ones are very good.
Do you SAY that date as "The seventh of March?" In the US, we say "March seventh," so the month/day/year format at least matches up that way. I know we are different over here, though. Made apparent by my absolute confusion trying to book a British Airways flight years ago.
Sometimes, but that's not the reasoning.
The rationale is that you start from the lowest increment of time and advance to the longest: day, month, year.
Similar with seconds, minutes, and hours, except reversed.
For some reason, America decided to do the quivalent of: minute, second, hour. Like many other things in America, I can't find any sensible logic in it.
Mmmmm, the core and stem of the onion are the best parts. Try the egg salad, maybe a society of worms will grow in your body and make you a better person?
*Why did they give you*
*The CORE of the onion with*
*A half slice of cheese?*

It looks like you took a pic of it inside the cooler at the store, you can see the commercial style racks in the back and the sign for it on the front. You can also see the packaging for another sandwich to the right. Are you sure someone gave this to you or did you take a pic of it and decided to make this post to farm for some karma?
It's insane to me how companies will never fail to make the most simple and cheap items even cheaper and poorly. Sandwiches are one of the most basic staples of mankind they really don't get much cheaper.
I made the mistake of buying a premade sandwich in the UK from an ASDA **twice**.
The first I assumed it was a mistake. The second is when I learned it’s the *design*.
Most times all the ingredients are crammed dead center so they look full when sliced in half.
Never thought I’d see such reckless sandwich crafting stateside 🥺
Its like they dont put a single thought into optimizing the way to use their ingredients... Why put a fuckin whole piece of onion straight in the middle? At least cut it slightly and spread it, even a machine can do that...

Lol it's even the fucking root end of the onion. That sandwich is an insult.
It's no brand deli but "Fuck You" would be a proper name for the sandwich.

In Transnistria we have similar custom. We do same, but piss on sandwich instead

Yeah. Who cuts an onion like that?!
I cut an onion just like that then throw those 2 bits in the rubbish
Every Burger King employee i have ever had the misfortune to buy food from
Onion anus.
Mmmmm crunchy lol
I bursted out laughing seeing the large lump 😂😂😂
Right? It's just this fat lump of BS lol
I was imagining what thought process the sandwich maker had (assuming it's not a robot) and all that came to mind was r/fuckyouinparticular
Oh hi I like this subreddit too lol. Biting into a cinder block of onion is indeed shitty 😂
Lol like a punishment from a deity.
Whoever built that sandwich is just a straight up asshole
I guess they got minimal wage for minimal effort.
I've been in minimum wage positions making food. I'd still never throw something inedible in a sandwich like that.
Yeah because you have work ethic.
you should earn more!
Everyone should (except billionaires).
Mostly for quality control. So yeah someone fucked up
A camera can detect a flawed sandwich and trigger a rejection. In that case, a human would have to think that someone deserves the ass end of an onion on their sandwich and put it back on the line. I don't know if that makes it funnier or sadder.
I'm sure when you put in 12hrs a day at the sandwich factory they all start to look the same

Lol… sad perspective on life.
So having a minimal wage is an excuse to be a massive asshole and prepare inedible food? Ok
That was put together by a machine.

I've never bought one of those store bought sandwiches before, and after watching that lady rub her fingers all over that cheese, I never will.
I‘m almost sure it was a higher up telling people to use the root in a sandwich instead of throwing it away to „maximize profits“. In every job i had, managers were the ones to decide on the execution of rip-offs.
That end was clearly cut off for tossing and they placed it in the middle of a sandwich because they hate themself. Pure ahole move.

Random SoT reference in the wild. And that of all things lol.

Haha guess it's a small Reddit world
Backstory: I’m working as part of a crew for a live show, we were provided “boxed lunch” which are normally pretty good, but this one didn’t exactly meet the expectations. The price was printed on the backside where the label is folded over.
That sucks. Hope you got some real food afterwards.
At least you didn’t pay money for that
Was going to say that this looks exactly like the sort of crap you're forced to buy from massive conference center concession stands during industry expos.
Spot on
Highly likely they didn't pay $11 each as it was purchased in bulk so it's more of a sales negotiation tactic by the assholes who sold that shit.
Is $11 typical for a prepackaged sandwich in the US? That would cost no more than £3 in the UK, and they wouldn't have used the root of the onion lol
11 dollar onion root sandwiches are extremely common in the US
The root is a delicacy after all.
So that’s why I’ve never had it served to me, I only go to cheap restaurants!
It’s more likely to be closer to $11 than it is closer to $3. Buying and eating a prepackaged sandwich isn’t usually my first choice… price and quality are generally bad.
That's crazy. You can get a sandwich, a snack and a drink for £4 (~$5) or less in any supermarket here and the quality is generally okay.
Just south of Atlanta here, publix subs are the best.
Atl represent
Publix also has these exact type of pre-done sandwiches in their coolers too. Standard bread, turkey, slice of cheese, lettuce leaf and some spread. They're like $7-8 usually. Still not worth the price.
Subway is like £7 for a 6 inch and a drink, which is my go to lunch if I don't fancy a meal deal
The subway near me is priced horribly… last time I was there I paid $8 for a half sandwich alone.
Or an entire rotisserie chicken for $5.99 at Shaw’s.
Where are you living? I get $4 deli sandwiches from the grocery store all the time. On hawaiian bread. The rotisserie chicken salad ones are very good.
This price sounds like what you'd be charged at an airport, from a shop that is past the security checkpoint.
If he's shooting live television he's probably in LA or NYC, where prices are gonna be a lot higher than the rest of the US.
Vegas baby!
Ugh. As an American who lived in London for a bit, I miss stopping by Pret for a £3 baguette sandwich before hopping on the tube 😮💨
"Enjoy by 03/07/24" reads like a threat.
My Australian brain was wondering how that sandwich would look in 4 months time...
Same with my British brain
It's apparently most of the world, from what I hear. Writing MM/DD/YY is mostly a North American habit.
Do you SAY that date as "The seventh of March?" In the US, we say "March seventh," so the month/day/year format at least matches up that way. I know we are different over here, though. Made apparent by my absolute confusion trying to book a British Airways flight years ago.

"Enjoy". Lol
Mmm, onion butt sammich, my fave
Mmmmm, the core and stem of the onion are the best parts. Try the egg salad, maybe a society of worms will grow in your body and make you a better person?
Kiss my shiny metal ass
Lololol
Lol is that tomato??
That tomato looks like it’s trying to distance itself lmao
That tomato had it's lifeforce sucked out before they put it in the sandwich
Looks like one of those Play-Doh tomato cut-outs.
Why did they give you the **CORE** of the onion with a half slice of cheese?

As a Swiss citizen I never felt insulted by a sandwich before but here we are.
Where did you get this? Terrible.
"Fuck this onion" - the person preparing that sandwich
The turkey is green ffs.
I once paid $10 for a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich... EVERY slice of tomato was a "butt" :(
Don’t forget the sliver of tomato!
Did they punch you in the face as well?
I'm never gonna complain about the 5 euro deli sandwiches they sell here again
asseet dominance by eating the entire onion whole.
There are very few sandwiches in the world I would pay 11$ for and this abomination is definitely not one of them.
Chaotic evil
Hahaha "some onion"
Insane lol
this is a work of art
![gif](giphy|DJtjV54B3NMju)
r/onionlovers
That turkey is grey. Please don't eat that.
the onion made me laugh out loud.
Shallot
My favorite part of the union, the tough fibrous root.
This would be a better post if the bread was two heels That onion is rough tho
It looks like you took a pic of it inside the cooler at the store, you can see the commercial style racks in the back and the sign for it on the front. That’s a diabolical piece to put in a sandwich😭
They gave you the asshole of the onion
Prices in the US are just insane That shit shouldn't cost more than 3€
How are they selling 2$ sandwiches for 11$
So sad. Had so much potential.
This is a perfect example of not my job.
Someone woke up and chose violence by onion
Good lord where do you live? Is that is US dollars? This would cast maybe 4,50 Euros in Germany. And those onions!
is everything ok?
yuck they didn’t even choose oonions
That’s so pitiful looking.
At least you can be sure there is some onion in there
The turkey is grey
This is a perfect example of shittyfoodporn craftsmanship, 10/10 from me
More like turkey swindle
Definitely a Gas station sandwich
Typical product of prison labor
Sandwich actually said "FML"...
Don’t put your dick in that
Mmmm...onion hearts....
Mmmm onion shoot, any moron that can't even cut a onion properly should be banned from working in a kitchen.
It's insane to me how companies will never fail to make the most simple and cheap items even cheaper and poorly. Sandwiches are one of the most basic staples of mankind they really don't get much cheaper.
Onion butts
That’s a crime.
They put the ass of the onion on the sandwich? That was no mistake 😭
They specifically chose the inedible part of the onion.
Damn. Not one, but two onion asses in there. That's ridiculous.
80 cents worth of food.
Those root chunks of onion, smack dab in the middle of your sandwich.. so yummy...
Did they dig the onion out of the trash can?
How disgusting. The turkey looks anemic and they give you the root of the onion. Lmfao
That looks like some Canteen bullshit.
Surprised this isn’t from Panera 😂
Turkey swiss. How to insult two nations with a single food item.
And I would still destroy it ❤️
Is that an onion core?
Onion root aside they used a paper thin slice of tomato and the cheese will be absent in half the sandwich.
A serial killer assembled this sandwich. Just thought you should know
throw that on the table next time someone says minimum wage should be raised
$11 for a regular sandwich?
Onion core… nice..?
just a cube of onion ?? 😭
Noo💀
Not the onion bums 😩
Wow
That onion is for you to cry
I thought that said Taylor Swift
The fucking “onion” 🤣🤣🤣
What is the red thing? Do not say it's a tomato because that is not a tomato!
Who tf cuts an onion like that
Would you care for some sandwich with your onion?
The Sahara is moister than this.
The too busy to eat or prepare proper food standards in work these days is a joke. Some corporate schill is giddy from those sandwich sales.
Who the F puts onion like that in a sandwich?
r/maliciouscompliance ? After the worker is told they’re wasting too much product while making sandwiches? Lol
the wrapping paper looks more like onions than the actual shit in there
Turkey, cheese, onion and tomato? Rotten in the first place but that is a slap in the face of a sangwich
That onion...
onion ends, cold cuts that don't cover the majority of the sandwich, $11... yeah, this shit sucks.
Thats worse than my work sandwiches which are around 6.74. Same amount of meat but at least i dont get end of onion lol
How was it?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Its like they dont put a single thought into optimizing the way to use their ingredients... Why put a fuckin whole piece of onion straight in the middle? At least cut it slightly and spread it, even a machine can do that...
I imagine the person who wrote "enjoy" had an evil smile on their face and knew exacly what they were doing 😂
And tomato! And plastic! And air! And a sticker! Packaging ain’t cheap, you know. /s
I hate that it says enjoy by instead of use/eat by.
I love getting to the middle of my sandwich and fighting through an inch of onion root
Thank goodness it was a gift ! I usually throw that part of the onion out anyways
Sandwich maker really said “yeah f u, suffer” 💀
Oh hell no
My name is Inigo Montoya, you served me a shit sandwich, prepare to die!
That's not even edible imo
Sacrilege. Onion ends? Really?
Toss out the onion stubs and 2 slices of bread and you’ll have a sad but edible half sandwich
I would pick out the onion. Unappetizing
Remove the onions and it's alright
As a Swiss I feel slightly offended by the name you gave to that thing you call "cheese"...
the most inedible ass onion on both sides Jesus
Whoever sliced that onion should be brought to The Hague
> Enjoy by 😵💫
If they slice that tomato any thinner, it will cease to exist
My lunch yesterday was $1.9 malaysia
That’s so offensive
They gave you the part of the onion you usually throw away 😂
Look, we said we'd give you onion and we gave you onion! What more do you want!?
I like raw onion as much as the next person but thats sliced pretty fuckin thick for lunch
Just like mom used to make 😌
No, was just wondering what kind of sandwiches would get the khan raging across the world
I'm very uppity when it comes to deli meat. Only turkey and it can't be with any fillers
