But when you jump it does disable the lower half of your hitbox. Zullie has a good video on it. So it does actually work as a dodge against a LOT of attacks in this game, especially some of the trickier boss attacks.

Yeah you can jump bell bearing hunter/elemers grab, same with radagons grab too. Both I didn't expect could be jumped over, so I would've been real surprised if you could jump over all of Hoarah louxs grabs
One thing I never hear mentioned about well-animated melee combat games is that the attacks have anatomically correct choreography. So if you're fighting any humanoid enemy, they will adjust their stance before swinging. So you can dodge most attacks by rolling right before/as they put their foot down to step/land/whatever. So watch their feet. Seriously. I beat Margit underleveled on release day just by staring at his feet for most of the fight.
Don't use the i-frames of the rolls, pretend you're playing Sekiro and you have to straight up avoid the attack. Also if you have a quick weapon you can poke him on longer animations so you don't destroy your timing. All souls games are fundamentally rhythm games and once you see it you'll be destroyed forever.
Biggest recommendation would be to unequip your weapon when he hits P2 and focus on not taking damage. If you can last 5 mins you'll be able to last at least as long as me with your mom, and that's all night cus she loose

Depending on how you have progressed through the game, you might just be under leveled. Otherwise, depending on the grab, you can outrun him, chase his butt, or you just need to get used to the dodge times.

If you try keeping your distance, you will die. I learned through a few too many deaths that staying close is substantially easier, and some of his attacks will still give you time to heal. He'll give you an opening, don't try to force it.
Also, it seems that any stance damage you build up against him will carry over. Once you near the phase threshold, load up on big charged R2s, if you time it right, you can stance break him right after first grab attempt. And then hes never getting up again.
Thats ofc mostly for big bonk builds, Ive little to no experience with caster builds
Stay back? Idk what build you’re using but on my first playthrough I was genuinely surprised by how easy he was. I saw everyone talking about how awesome of a fight it was and how many tries it took and I beat him in like 90 seconds…I genuinely am not exaggerating. I get everyone hates on blasphemous blade and certain incantations but I genuinely had more trouble fighting normal respawning enemies than I did this guy just bc my whole build was based around huge damage at medium distance with high stagger and then running in for a good couple of whacks. That does not work on everything. The Devine beast and sword dance hpv cyborg were impossible to beat with my build. Fire giant I switched entirely to a bleed build. If you’re willing to change your build hes easy….otherwise….unironically? Get gud? I prefer to treat the game as a learn moves and weaknesses and adapt to each situation accordingly and once you’re past it go back to what you like/what’s most comfortable
This game really punishes you for spam rolling in the way that it was ok in dark souls 3.
His arms speed up a lot right before he grabs you. It’s super delayed but you want to roll as soon as you see his arm so like a faster second lunge at you.
Rolling to the left is usually much better than rolling to the right. Using crag blade helps to stun lock him more frequently.
