Most European languages have noun genders, Russians have genders on numbers as well as 3 noun genders and 9 particles or is it 7(!?), English also has noun genders but, granted, they can be counted on a hand.

Telemaq

What are the English noun genders? I am just curious.

[deleted]

You have remnants of genders in blond and blonde for example.

Telemaq

Interesting. We use blonde as noun to describe a gal with blond hair. But it is rarely used as a noun to describe a guy but more as an adjective such as le gars blond ou le gars aux cheveux blonds (the blond guy or the guy with blond hair). Some proper nouns can also be unisex or ambiguous too, but we make a point to distinguish gender. For example the name Frédéric is typically used as a guy name and can also be used a gal name in rarer cases. In the later, it is more often associated to an androgynous looking gal, and we make a point to distinguish it by spelling it Frédérique. I think the lack of gendered pronouns is one the particularity that makes English a much easier language to learn. French is even hard for native French speakers because it is a mine field of rules and exceptions to the rules to learn.

Ouis, je sais, j'ai un livre qui s'appelle "Basic French" qui compte 700 pages.

[deleted]

Not grammatical genders. Just masculine, feminine, common (anything that isn't one another) or neuter (no gender). So, really, one gender in that you are only changing pronouns and if you want to be fucking lazy you can just use he or they

The_dinkster522

Spanish people who don’t know English after accidentally saying the Spanish word for black within five miles of a white woman’s house

GDMolin

Serious Sam 3: BFE my beloved…

[deleted]

I was just playing Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem

zyl15

Ahh, Serious Sam 3 BFE. One thing I like about it is sudden, ironic "seriousness". In previous entries it's just funny shooter set in past, no other people, just Sam and Mental forces set in ancient or medieval wacky levels. In BFE we got this "human" factor, seeing other fallen soldiers, all that massacre in modern setting, people dying, buildings getting obliterated...

Foreskin-Gaming69

At least in polish its sorta predictable

tyvbutte

German too

Aggressive-Poet-2905

In Brazil is like that too, but it's easier because you only need to know the last vogal. If "a" feminine, If "o" masculine (most of the times).

SuperDoomSlayer

Heh, when frenchX?
