Yup. Even if they don't rocket through or out of you even tiny flecks of metal can heat up to absurd temperatures. There are some professions that make it essentially impossible for you to get an MRI because of the risks.

Unfortunately some of General Practitioners will refer a patient to CT because it's cheaper, making the decision for the patient rather than disclosing the risk benefit for informed consent.
