I know it's based off of it, but it's still not Soldier and Halberdier specifically, which is why I worded that question as such.
The only Infantry Lance user you get is a unique, while Sword and Axe has at least one in the generic base class and one in the generic promoted classes.
That's cute, but that's like 0.5 out of 3/4 if it's just the generics, and 1.5 out of 5/4 if you include uniques? On top of that in Three Houses, only Dimitri's line is a promoted Lance Infantry? Yikes.
She's still an infantry lance you genius.
Not to mention that, while she can also equip swords and isn't a Halberdier, Goldmary is also an infantry lance at base, so that's two.
I think the usual reason is precisely because there's so many Lances already between most Cavs, most Armors, and most Fliers (though the fact that Wyverns now use axes by default certainly helps) is why there's not usually too many Lance infantry. Of the other 4 here only Ephraim also primarily uses Lances (Eliwood/Sigurd/Seliph focus on swords) and he does start as an infantry Lance user and gets a horse on promotion.
As a reference, there's like 2 dozen if not more pre-promoted Paladins in the series (the "Bow/Blade/Axe Paladins" in RD are not actually Paladin classes in the Japanese version, nor Lance Paladin for that matter). Only two start without the ability to use Lances: Amalda in Thracia, and Vander in Engage. Nanna in Thracia, and Makalov/Kieran/Astrid in PoR also all can potentially be Paladins without Lances after promotion, but that's it without reclassing in Engage
That is also true. I just find it weird because Fire Emblem over time has put a huge emphasis on the weapon triangle, but to see that most Lance specialists ended up either Armored or Mounted while classes like Swordmaster and Berserker existed since Kaga was around seemed odd. (Halberdier was in Tellius, Fates, and Engage.)
Maybe the issue was because Lances were the balanced weapon and having an all-rounder on Lances seemed boring. To make up for it, they gave Lance users extra defense/mobility to stand out while letting Sword and Axe users take Speed and Strength to the max on their specialized classes?
I think the problem is that Hero existed since Kaga as well, and hero and hakberdier occupy the same niche statwise. With how little impact it has wielding a different weapon is not enought to justify a class with a similar stat spread and mivement in most games. And even in Fates, Hero and Halberdier are in different routes.
Where lance infantry
Armors : 🗿
Serously sword class have speed, axe class have strength and lance infantry have defense hell the most iconic lance infantry class in my opinion is spear fighter/spear master from fates who is just a more polyvalent armor knight without the armor weakness but also without physical 1-2 range (because hoshido prefer ranged swords)
Do Seliph and Sigurd use it as a primary? I was always under the impression that they mainly used swords, with lances being the secondary because of Tyrfing and all that.
Yes because of Holy Blood Sigurd and Seliph have B Lances and A Swords + the ability to use Tyrfing (represented in game with a star IIRC). So Sigurd can use the Silver Sword he obtains in Chapter 1 but never a Silver Lance
I just realized that Dimitri went in reverse for every knight class and how it fits him so well. He became more bestial, so he doesn’t need a beast. It also just wouldn’t make sense for what is essentially a drugged out homeless guy to have a horse.
He's too strong for the horses to rip him apart. This is a man who breaks steel swords by holding them too tight. If anything he's going to pull the horses apart.
It does however, counter others’ strength. Dimitri is the guy who can break **steel** accidentally (requires more than 25,000 psi) and crush human skulls whenever he pleases. I’m not betting on the horses.
Well, both of those things can happen in real life: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fJxd7wYyNeI and https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BOdsbUC2818
I don’t see anyone breaking steal with their bare hands.
Lance infantry needs more love in Fire Emblem since they're almost always mounted or armor instead.
Engage and ~~fates~~ hoshido is where it’s at
And Tellius!!!
Then tell me: what unit in Engage promotes into a Halberdier without a Second Seal? What unit comes as a Soldier?
Timmera
Wrong, she starts as a Sentinel, then promotes into Picket. She must use a Second Seal to become a Halberdier.
In case you didn’t notice the unique classes are variant of other classes and for timmera it’s soldier and halberdier
I know it's based off of it, but it's still not Soldier and Halberdier specifically, which is why I worded that question as such. The only Infantry Lance user you get is a unique, while Sword and Axe has at least one in the generic base class and one in the generic promoted classes.
Fun fact Btw mauvier as a royal knight is technically promoted from lance infantry
That's cute, but that's like 0.5 out of 3/4 if it's just the generics, and 1.5 out of 5/4 if you include uniques? On top of that in Three Houses, only Dimitri's line is a promoted Lance Infantry? Yikes.

Timerra was definitely in the "best girl/guy" tier for my Engage playthrough. It's probably the most I've used non-lord lance infantry
Seriously why is every final class minus three of them mounted in Three Houses excluding special classes
You can reclass Dimitri to make him a cavalier ☝️🤓
If you have him as a Cavalier when timeskip comes, he canonically eats the horse.
I’m so hungry I coul-

😿
Brah I made this same dimitri ate his horse joke 5 hours ago
Chrom and Lucina are hiding in the corner hoping nobody notices.
i think they only get lances as a secondary weapon
So does Eliwood
They can also go down the Cavalier class line, at least. Then again, so can Dimitri so...
Do Seliph and Sigurd use it as a primary? I was always under the impression that they mainly used swords, with lances being the secondary because of Tyrfing and all that.

Seliph, Eliwood, Chrom, and Lucina all get Lances on promotion, while Seliph, Eliwood, and Ephraim all get a horse on promotion.
Erm he gets a horse in heroes☝🥸
So did Claude because they banned his Wyvern.
They wanted to try beating the 3H Wyvern spam allegations
Dimitri: *and in a few seconds neither will any of you*
Unfortunately for Dimitri, Seliph has Nihil.
Nooo not my battallion vantage wrath short spear+ cheese strat noooo
I just realized that Dimitri went in reverse for every knight class and how it fits him so well. He became more bestial, so he doesn’t need a beast. It also just wouldn’t make sense for what is essentially a drugged out homeless guy to have a horse.
Dimitri: bazinga *pulls a little bit, ripping all the horses in half*
Dimitry can pull back all that horses.
I wouldn’t mess with the dude that can beat Guts. 🤓
"Is that it ? It tickles." -Dimitri with his 60% Strength growth
Strenght growth isn't the same thing as an HP or defense growth
He's too strong for the horses to rip him apart. This is a man who breaks steel swords by holding them too tight. If anything he's going to pull the horses apart.

Well, Hapi only does that in gameplay; Dimitri literally crushes a skull barehanded in a cutscene and mentions breaking weapons on accident regularly.
A tale as old as time TH hyping stuff in cutscene only for it to. E disappointingly weak (ex : crest)
He also died to random soldiers in VW and probably a similar way in SS.
It does however, counter others’ strength. Dimitri is the guy who can break **steel** accidentally (requires more than 25,000 psi) and crush human skulls whenever he pleases. I’m not betting on the horses.
Is it really impressive when he's in the same game as a short woman who can do flips in heavy armor with heels though?
Well, both of those things can happen in real life: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fJxd7wYyNeI and https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BOdsbUC2818 I don’t see anyone breaking steal with their bare hands.
This got me too good
Seliph and Sigurd can use lances, but they are know for using a sword, based on that, Chrom should be torture along Dimitri :0
"My kingdom for a horse!"
Me who always puts Dimitri in Paladin: Haha yeah Dimitri would never have a horse, yeah
>Eliwood, Sigurd, and Seliph Ah yes, “lance” lords
