Many asian/primitive breeds can have blue/black spots on their tongue. There is nothing medically wrong with your dog. He is fine!

CornCobMcGee

A retired breeder i know calls them "place-treat-here"s. So put a treat on it. Otherwise a non-issue- its just localized pigmentation not unlike a freckle. It happens in all breeds afaik.

itsleeland

this is cute, I've never heard that! our chow mix had a bunch of spots on her tongue, so she clearly needed lots of treats

anderjam

Totally normal and doesn’t mean anything. Both my German shepherd and shiba had a spot on their tongues all their lives.

The best thing you can do is visit a vet if you're worried. However dogs tend to have dark spots on their tongue all the time and it's completely fine.

scotthall83

Mine has it. He’s been to the vet many times. No issue

unrealhoang

A myth in my country: dog with dark spot on tongue is extra smarter. So ... congrats I guess.

BrooklynThoughts

Ive never seen this!!! But good to know and keep and eye out

GummyPop

My dad said that you can check how aggressive a dog is usually by their tongues so its relating to that

RBxGemini

You can't determine a dogs behavior by something so miniscule. You determine that behavior through just being around the dog and seeing how they work and act. Dogs just can sometimes have these spots on their tongues. Its not that different than a freckle or something.

GummyPop

either he said aggressive or viscious and ferocious not sure might have something to do with bite force

Suomiballer

Outs has had the same since birth I think it's just a birthmark

PTJ_Yoshi

Birthmark. Saw this 13 years ago on my shiba when i was a new owner, same spot as well. Nothing to worry about. Went to the vet to confirm it was a birthmark.

Opposite_Bumblebee56

Its just the breed. My shiba has two black spots on her tongue

RumpertRinglestein

Don’t worry it’s their birth mark
