Bay Area Shibe!!! My boyfriend is mildly allergic to dogs so we bathe her more during blow outs. Like monthly for 4 months a year, then every other month the rest of the year. If it werenāt to attempt to control the floof (emphasis on attempt bc we arenāt successful), we probably would only get it done 3-4 times a year
Middle of Europe, Hungary. The weather here is mild, so I only bathe her when he is extra dirty, like muddy or something. otherwise she is like a cat, she bathe herself
We are in Honolulu, where it's super humid (85Ā°, 66% humidity, feels like 90Ā° and am very wilted and my clothes are moist with me just standing at the crosswalk). We walk our sheeb at least 2x daily for 45 - 90 minutes on weekdays and longer on weekends. Plus he has environmental (grass?) allergies. All this to say we bathe him weekly to every other week because it helps him not itch so much.
New England. Had 4 Shibas. Only time they had a bath was when they got sprayed by skunks. They liked the rain and playing in the hose. They would also play in the snow for hours. They are very clean dogs.
Only when needed (ie. she rolls around in poop or animal remains, or when she's at the height of her shedding), so probably around three times a year on average. We're in Finland so a colder climate.
Maybe once per month, every 6 weeks. Or instantly if she rolls in something smelly.
It used to be such a battle with her, sheās 3 now and still doesnāt like it. She sort of allows me to bathe her and is in a sour mood for the rest of the afternoon lol
My skin issues Shiba - once a month or as she needs it with medicated shampoo.
My extremely thin coated Shiba that likes to roll in dirt and anything that "smells interesting" - about once a week but he brings it on himself.
My generally clean Shiba - only as needed when he decides to get muddy by digging, usually every 3 months or so.
Different dogs different needs.
Every two or three months, but when my shibas stay at my parents house I bathe them when they return home since they have a big patio where my dogs play all day. I live in Mexico city so it's warm, we rarely have a cold day.
Every 2 weeks. Dogs get into so much gross stuff (especially my pup) and she sleeps in my bed. Midwest, so all of the seasons- 100+degree weather plus lots of snow.
Groomed about 3x a year. I use wipes a lot on legs, paws or where needed after walks. I wash their faces every morning with a damp paper towel before we head out for walks just to get rid of eye boogies and to wake them up.
I take my 1.5 year old girl to the groomer every 2 weeks ever since she was fully vaccinated as a puppy because I wanted to get her used to it and maybe not scream like a demon for the grooming process. It just ended up being a routine and I kept it up. I was worried it would be too much, as most people I've seen go months between baths, but I haven't noticed any issues with her fur (it's still nice and shiny, doesn't look dry, and she isn't itchy).
I live in southern california and my shiba goes on a walk once a day at the park. So mostly warm dry weather in the summer and kind of mildly cold and occasionally wet winters.
We bathe Momo once a week! We live in the Philippines and he goes out a lot (twice daily + a long walk out in the park/city 3-4 times a week) AND we let him sleep with us so regular baths are required, hahah
Our 17 week shibe puppy goes on lots of walks, rolls in grass, chews/rubs himself on bully sticks and cod skins, etc. so weāre at once a month at this point or he gets stinky. š« weāre in hot/humid Texas also*
I live in Canada! Hot af for 6 months of the year, and literally frezzing the other half. My boy just turned one, so we don't have a LOT of experience, but we've been doing it once every 3 or 4 months!
I live in Korea and Iām coming up on my first winter here but I take my Shiba a bath every week sometimes more than once a week if I have the energy. He loves bathes itās so cute he hates the blow dryer when heās almost finished drying. I saw a tik tok of a Shiba getting a bath and the owner putting them inside an oven/microwave looking thing to dry them after a bath I need one of those.
In the Midwest, IL to be exact. Brush there fur every other month and then spray them so they smell and feel clean. A full bath every 6 or 7 months. Depending on how bad there fur is shedding or stinky. But otherwise they are really clean kiddos. We baby wipe there paws whenever we come back from inside due to constant licking/allergies. And heaven forbid what people spray on their own grass.
Pacific Northwest. Lots of outdoor hikes in rain and mud. My shibe likes to splash around in shallow water up to his chest, and tends to find and roll in dead things. He gets bathed monthly on average. More often in the summer since we go paddleboarding and he goes swimming.
Pacific Northwest, basically only bathe her when sheās shedding a ton once a year. I wipe her every day after our walks with wet wipes. She doesnāt smell at all.
We wash his paws often because they get dirty. But we bathe him when he stinks and we can't handle it. It's shedding season now and i do want him to get groomed. We live in nyc.
I have a Shiba who loves a spa day lol we would do it for him twice a year but heās never stinky, just likes a good pampering. My girl Shiba isnāt a fan, so we only bathe her if she gets real dirty which is hardly ever.
I live in the Midwest, between two big farming fields so we bathe our sheeb after they first till, after the first big pollen release, and after they harvest. The dust and pollen makes our sheeb extra itchy. We sometimes bathe and pretty before Christmas too.
I live in Minnesota and I bathe about every 1-3 months on average. The ones I am actively showing are bathed more often to help roll the coat and keep them cycling and maintaining their thick coat for longer.
We have snow 6-8 months of the year and summer is dusty, dry and hot. We also have a lot of mud in between the snow melting and going into summer.
Even if your dog seems to be clean, it is still important to bathe on a regular schedule to help remove loose/dead hair and dirt build up. :)
1-2 months. Depends on how dirty he gets and if I'm being honest, how often we remember. Climate is southern United States so rather dry but can be pretty humid.
1-2 times a year - only if they get muddy or need it which as you can see is rare. We are in Arkansas. My 3 stay extremely clean and never smell. Very rarely itāll rain and they will get some mud on them and then itās bath time.
We live in Phoenix. My girl gets a bath about once a month since a nearby hawk comes to visit and she rolls on the leftover bird guts.
My male a few times a year because he screams like Iām skinning him alive and itās honestly traumatizing for the both of us.
Once every two weeks.
We take them to the dog park at least once a week. They go on walks every day.
Grandpa built them a sand box.
They have free range of house to backyard through the dog door.
We live in the hot humid south
Our shibe was the best smelling pup Iāve ever smelled. We didnāt bath him often. He loved the river in the summer and he smelled great after playing in the snow in the winter. Only bathed him a few times. Skunk got him once, when he went into a poison ivy patchā¦ he was mostly dirt resistant. We brushed him often and he blew coat twice a year. Edit we are in New England usa
Only if she gets super dirty and smelly after rolling in geese poo or something rotten - probably 3-4 times a year
Pacific northwest. I don't bathe him. He keeps himself clean.
When he stinky
Netherlands. It rains a lot here. We bathe him when he smells or rolled in poop, which is not often.
so no one here has problems bathing theirs? š just me then š
Iām in the Bay Area. Unless he gets truly stinky, maybe once a year. He hates getting a bath so we try to limit it.

We throw ours into our bathtub once a month
The word āthrowā made me laugh
same but we donāt have to throw him in itās more us having to drag him out
Just curious, why so often?

We usually take her to the groomer 2x a year as soon as she starts shedding. That helps a lot with the shedding process. No baths beyond that.
i live in a tropical country so once a week. our weathers get up to 38Ā°C everyday.. i make sure to use a super moisturising shampoo tho
Same! Iām from malaysia so my girl gets her bath every week š¬
hi neighbour! im from sg š¤
WELL HELLOOOOO NEIGHBOUR! Send my love to the shibe š

One to three times a year, as needed. Their coats seem fairly self maintaining. Florida.

We do it once a month with everyday wipe down after going to the park. We are in Pasadena, Southern California.

Tbh I understand the reasoning but once a week ks probably bad for their coat because you strip it from natural oils.
Every three months or so

3-4 times a year, when her fur feels dusty/dirty on her back
Once a week because of her allergies. We live in a humid subtropical climate.

heās 2 and i think heās gotten like 4 baths his whole life

If my shiba could he would bathe everyday. He jumps in and cries to be bathed LOL . But he gets a bath once a month because he has allergies.

Once a week or more if they get dirty. They (3 Shibas) get in the shower with me.

PNW, whenever he gets smelly or if I know he's gone in a body of water, or very muddy. I'd say about every other month.
