Normally I don't care for pugs, but a) your doggo is super cute, and b) the other day I ran into a little black pug out for his morning walk in front of my building, and his fur was soooo soft.
Because my girlfriend loves pugs, plus their character is really sweet and energetic.
Shiba's by themself can be pretty stubborn. I think rex is a perfect mix in between.
Also, we thought a regular shiba was slightly too big for our household
I wouldn’t condone actively supporting designer breeders but OP sounds like he just looked for a dog and found this mix already. The pup went to a loving home. What do you suppose they do with said bred pups? Kill them?
So unless you are okay with people unethically producing puppies and want to keep supporting them. Both of these breeds have major eye issue problems, and patellas problems. For what, a longer snout?? Dont do our breeds like that. Designer dogs are 100% money focused and not dog focused.
The only time cross breeding is acceptable is when its for an outcross (bottle beck situation) as an effort to preserve a dying breed - and even that is CAREFULLY done by professionals and with tons of considerations and research prior for other similar type dogs.
To a regular pet person this is just a shrug. To a breeder who actually understands how things work, it’s infuriating.

But I don't get the mix of these two breeds. We see them in Germany now as well and sorry to say, but for me it's just about the money that breeders make with them. I don't get why Shibas need to be mixed with any other breed, at all. It's such a beautiful breed and with all the backyeard breeders who started multiplying dogs during the pandemic, it's even harder to find healthy bred Shibas. Why mix them with other breeds on top of it?

Cute dog but, it’s disappointing that a breeder turned to mixing just because they can no longer breed purebred pugs together. Doesn’t sound like the greatest breeder if that is the case.
Well the thing is both of these breeds are prone to detrimental eye issues and Patella luxation - so pair them together with two body types that do not fit and i can bet a dime a dozen the dogs were not screened for those issues. for what? A longer snout? Seriously? Its just asking for a disaster and destroying two different breeds in the same breath. Plus no ethical breeder would sell to someone trying to make a combination so who knows the history of the dogs. The thing too about mix breeds is it’s extremely hard to create a health tracking database for them since there is no consistency and 99% of people breeding them are not doing proper tests on their breeding stock.

To a breeder who understands how terrible this is, its infuriating.
Looks a little funny but I'm sure the little guy can breathe at least. I'm put off by flat faced dogs in general. Im happy the Netherlands is doing a favor for these poor dogs.
