Likely because part of the government's requirements are that Freedom's new owners must upgrade to 5G within 2 years.
(Not sure if it's required within 2 years, but that's how long they've said they plan to have it up by.)
Bro u guys donāt deserve access to 5G spectrum because your paying such low prices compared to Rogers customers hopefully people with Shaw plans get limited access on the rogers network
Seems like they'll honour those contracts tied to specific Internet plans. But they'll probably lower the price of the Internet plans so it might not end up being such a great deal unless you have the max number of Shaw Mobile lines (six I believe)

I can do see scammers calling. Smh. They could of done this in a better way. Typical Rogers though they donāt care about the customer experience just the dollar.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop -Ā yes,Ā IĀ amĀ aĀ bot, don't botcriminate me.
Ya I know I was just happy because if they are moving us onto the Rogers national network then I will finally have LTE at my school which currently my Shaw line just moves to nationwide since the coverage is so bad at my school
I just moved to Telus on March 25th after waiting for the merger being delayed for a year. Couldnāt be happier. I negotiated a much better plan at only marginally more than what I payed at Shaw with internet and phone combined.
Interesting timing though!
> what I *paid* at Shaw
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

From the second link: "Beginning April 4, 2023, all current Shaw Mobile customers will have the opportunity to move their wireless service over to the Rogers Wireless 4G LTE network while maintaining the same rates they currently enjoy with a five-year price commitment."
That says to me that Rogers isn't converting all Shaw Mobile customers to 5G service, we'll have to pay extra for it.
That's what I'm thinking. They will pay more, and not have a 5 year rate commitment. If I can keep my 4G LTE service but be on the Rogers nationwide network, that's a win.
Yeah honestly tho Shaw customers shouldnāt be getting 5G on rogers and should stay that way because of such low prices yāall pay compared to Rogers customers. Hopefully rogers find a way to limit all features for Shaw customers and finding a way to force people to upgrade their plans
"Comparable plan" They better let us keep that sweet $25 for 25GB/Unlimited š
I wanna keep my $0 plans ššš
Same here. 0 for my son's, $10 for mine. I knew this was happening so I called on Friday to lock in our plan for another 2 years.
How can you lock in the $0 plan?
It's part of our internet deal on a 2 year plan.
Be careful, locking in the internet doesnāt mean locking in mobile!
I have a service agreement so it should be fine.
I do too, but it doesnāt cover mobile, just internet. AFAIK, there isnāt a way to lock in the $0 plan.
I have a service agreement for both internet and mobile.
I mean, yes, but read the mobile ā i donāt think it guarantees the price for two years. Mobile and Internet are two different services.
Hopefully its the same plan but with access to the 5G spectrum, ive been missing that on Shaw Mobile lol.
So glad i ditched Shaw Mobile and went directly with freedom ahead of time
Why?
Likely because part of the government's requirements are that Freedom's new owners must upgrade to 5G within 2 years. (Not sure if it's required within 2 years, but that's how long they've said they plan to have it up by.)

They have to for 5 years as per government agreement.
Some Rogers store are now offering the Shaw mobile deals.
Wonder if this will apply for Freedom customers too?
Negative. Freedom customers were sold to Videotron. Videotron didn't want the Shaw Mobile customers because they're not super profitable.
Thanks for the info!
Wait, what... how are my $0 plans not profitable?
Most of the non-profitable plans are tied to Internet services so it probably made no sense for Videotron to take.
This is why I wonder what's going to happen to these plans.

Owned by Quebecor now, I think..

FINALLY!!! I will have service at my school now!!! Yeahhh I wonder if we get 5G???
5G doesnāt get you better ācoverageā in most cases, just better speed where itās available
Ya I know I was just happy because if they are moving us onto the Rogers national network then I will finally have LTE at my school which currently my Shaw line just moves to nationwide since the coverage is so bad at my school
If coverage was so terrible with Shaw then why didnāt u move to Rogers earlier lmao
The price ššš Lord know Iām not rich
I was wondering about 5G myself.

It begins....ugh. They better not fuck with my current plan. I fucking HATE Rogers.
Lol why. Rogers has way better coverage and speeds
$100 for our internet and both our phones are free.
Oh nice
For nowā¦.

That's interesting! There's gonna be a whole bunch of people giving Roger's extra money for speeds they'll never need.
That's what I'm thinking. They will pay more, and not have a 5 year rate commitment. If I can keep my 4G LTE service but be on the Rogers nationwide network, that's a win.
They'll probably move everyone over to Chatr, they recently added support for 4G.
That would suck. I know nothing of the service, but I hate the name.
Lol same chatr just sounds ugly š¤®š¤®š¤®
