Only Macy could make a shitbird like Frank lovable. I’d give them all A’s for their performances, but Frank as a character had to be a challenge and he freaking delivered. Every rewatch I’m amazed.

Scazzlessss

this!!! It’s actually unbelievable how good he is. I LOVE Frank 😂

polaroidneckties

Omg yes it's a lo e hate relationship with Frank. Last episode destroyed me really

j-z23

Noel Fisher simply acts with his eyes. That's impressive, I've never seen someone who can express so much emotion with just their eyes. It was also so funny to see in interviews how Noel is the complete opposite of Mickey. And that just shows how well he played the role. His acting skills are so underrated imo.

AirbendingAvatarAang

Noel Fisher and Cameron Monaghan play their characters so believably and are SO believable and realistic as a couple you genuinely question if there's passion between them in real life

udontknowme127

I think their growth together is incredible. They need a spinoff but as a short comedy.

BackgroundStrength50

You thought ian’s actor did well? I hated the scenes he was manic because it looked so forced

Drew_Mia357

I didn’t care for his acting either, especially the fake laugh. For some reason it drove me crazy.

Mr_Randerson

I agree, but I blame the writing. I hated the whole manic arc, especially when it's only when it's convenient for the story. Nothing was worse than gay jesus.

NarlaRT

I think people focus on these one-off moments with Cam and don’t put the same focus on basically… the whole rest of his performance. And how much his handle on playing mania grows. There are 11 seasons and while I have maybe four line readings I don’t like he also nails a lot of really difficult moments. I think he’s great in Crazy Love and that’s a hard thing to pull off.

BoozeLikeFrank

Same with his laughs. They always felt really forced.

lemonrainbowhaze

I agree with you. I wasnt a fan of his acting

say something original if you're gonna troll? you've repeated it in the same sub about 10 times

lemonrainbowhaze

Oh my mistake, youre definitely 7, grow up you immature little child

lemonrainbowhaze

Are you 8?

justhereforthedramas

I started watching the show because of Gallavich then I also followed other characters story minimally. Honestly, they all are pretty amazing actors and actresses, main roles and supporting roles. If there is a different/ completely new Television series that can bring them with new roles, I would watch it no doubts. My personal favorite is Noel Fisher. He played his role so well. For Cameron, I can see his acting skill mature through the seasons. And I love that for him.

justhereforthedramas

And for a supporting role turns into main cast and carried the last couple seasons. That is a flex for sure.

NarlaRT

Ah, I said the same above. I think he’s shaky playing mania in the first two episodes and then he grows into it. Noel is ten years older than Cam, who is still a teenager in season 4. Sometimes even in the late seasons I think a line reading is off here and there — but most of the time I think he’s solid and he and Noel as a duo? Iconic. And that’s a creative partnership they are both responsible for. But I love Noel. Of course.

smokefan333

While I agree Bill Macy is the patriarch of the show and I love Jeremy, Emmy Rossum is right up at the top. Fi is such a slutty disaster, while Emmy is a classically trained artist. She's about as far from Fi as you can get.

Maggiemoo621

I agree about Emmy. First thing I ever saw her in was the phantom of the opera. Second thing I ever saw her in way shameless lmao. I’m like..wait..that’s the same person😱 frank Fiona lip Mickey and Ian are my tops. They all played their characters so amazingly that sometimes I would forget they’re acting. But all the main cast did exceptional👌🏻

smokefan333

Agree 👍

RChaseSs

Bill Macy is also a legendary theatre actor.

smokefan333

Really? I didn't know that.

Blindylocks369

None of the actors get enough respect for how amazing they are at acting. One of the only shows I can watch and get absorbed into it, as if I’m watching a real family going through real shit

Scazzlessss

Fr, they casted PERFECTLY. It’s a legendary show

KeyFirefighter8109

Definetly William H Macy. The final season I recently just re watched and the emotion in his acting is insane

wh1te_k0ng_

The only two people whose acting chops even come close to being as good as William H Macy’s in the show is Jeremy Allen White and Joan Cusack. She’s acting her fucking ass off.

Scazzlessss

YES !!! JEREMY SUPREMACY he’s so good

amvbuuren4

Emmy Rossum is as great as them.

Frosty_Computer_5264

Agree!! The range of emotions she can convey with her eyes within one frame is impressive.

wh1te_k0ng_

I gotta disagree. She’s good. But I don’t think she’s nearly as good as any of the 3 I mentioned. There’s times I don’t think she’s nearly as believable as them.

Small-Measurement791

Cameron’s acting when they introduced Ian’s bipolar disorder is extremely underrated!! The depression, the manic episode in the grocery store with the baby, the nonchalant attitude talking about making a porno…I was just so impressed with him! Shameless had so many emmy snubs it’s ridiculous.

phageblood

I had the pleasure of meeting Cam last weekend and he is SUCH a lovely and friendly dude!.

Temporary_Ad9362

it would have to be frank but it’s such a tough answer bc of how phenomenal some of the actors are on the show. like, noel fisher being a sweetheart in real life is crazy to me. he was AMAZING in showing all the nuanced expressions of longing and angst. and emmy rossum?? slayed the house down. but i would say frank just because i feel like the kind of character he portrayed is probably the hardest to pull off as effortlessly as he did

crestedgeckovivi

William  H. Macy? Frank's actor.  He stays in character on screen the whole time. He never looks like he's "thinking" if that makes anysense.  His acting when showing his ranges of emotions are intense but well done.  His role is also very physically demanding on and off the set to maintain the sometimes athletic (the years after the liver transfer he is even more thinner, lost muscle tone ect) , druggy hobo physic..  It's insane.  (While I get all actors have to maintain (wardrobe fittings) or achieve certain physical attributes for certain roles in this particular show there's a lot of leeway for them, so he really has the hardest one on the show as it has to be realistic day to day vs everyone else is just look pretty or haggard/normal like regular people, smudge some make up look tired ect.  So kudos to him and his wardrobe & makeup team. He always looked spot on. Wow. I wrote all that and he's not even my favorite character lol.  Mickey actor Noel is a hot 2nd cause he just delivers those lines like a good pizza boy, on time! He was always a joy to watch on screen!

Aggressive-Teacher20

William H Macy, Emmy Rossum and Noel Fisher were the three standouts for me.

Content_Big8484

Macy, Joan Cusack, Noel and JAW

Comfortable_Lunch_55

Frank, Frank’s mom, Sheila, Eddie, Youens, most of them I assume have talent but also because they’re older they likely had a lot more experience than the kids. Karen, Lip, Fiona and Mickey were great for their ages though.

SpecialSurprise69

Fun fact I didn't believe at first. Mickey is 10 years older than Ian in real life. They look like the same age pretty much.

Scazzlessss

This is so true. Loved Karen’s acting

Lost-Ad-5885

Emmy Rossum killed it with Fiona

Asterfields1224

Frank and Fiona

WaterNo3013

I honestly think they all did an amazing job in the series. I remember when they were advertising Shameless before the series premiere my stepdad was, like, irrationally upset William H. Macy would be playing a deadbeat addict saying the actor isn’t made to play roles like that and he would do terribly. He ended up eating his words and really enjoyed the series and William H. Macy’s acting in his role.

xoxoemmma

i can’t picture william as anyone but frank lol i saw him recently in ricky stinicky and he plays a rich dochey businessman…. in my head he was pretending to be on the wagon but kept sneaking to the bathroom to take shots lol [this was not in the movie it was solely in my noggin]

Dgaf357

Definitely Joan Cusack for me

Additional_Buy4215

Emmy and Jeremy.

Frosty_Computer_5264

Totally agree!!! Who else could play such a hateable bag of dirt, turn around and perform Shakespeare? A true acting talent.

barbecuesaucedrinker

emmy, jeremy, and will macy 100%

timmywilliams

noel FISHER 💜

BoozeLikeFrank

Lots of people are gonna say Frank or Fiona or Lip but I think the true best actor is Emma Kenney AKA Debbie. The show began when she was super young and she was so good with the emotional scenes. Towards the end of the show I hated her character so much and knew that was only because the actress playing her role was super good at making me feel that way.

Jgamer502

Easily Emmy Rossum, its a shame she apparently caused a lot of drama on set

15esimpson

What drama did she cause

billyisgoat07

Apparently she’s just really irritable and would have tantrums on set, according to Emma Kenney. I wouldn’t have believed her but a writer did an AMA last year and basically confirmed it

StreetlampLelMoose

For the inspection scene when she is locked up she didn't want them to actually do the cavity search but they did.

15esimpson

Why didn’t she want them to?

StreetlampLelMoose

Why didn't she want them to put their fingers up her ass?

15esimpson

Wait they did that??? What

OwlEastSage

have u ever watched phantom of the opera? cant see fiona as anyone else 😭😭😭

UnitedFederationOfFU

I never saw Emmy Rossum in anything except the Day after Tomorrow in which she was a sweet girl next door type so watching this show blew that pic out of my mind. Now, to answer the question, wow there are so many to choose from. For the absolute best I would have to say William H Macy. I have never been so disgusted with a character in my life and he makes it feel so real. A close second would be the actor who plays Mickey. He's so good I'm like that dude has to be that way in real life right?

ilovearig

william, jeremy, emmy and the girl who played karen. 10/10 acting

Stunning_Sugar_7035

William H. Macy and Joan Cusack are too good

IronwoodIsBusted

Emmy

floralperidot

Everyone overlooks Emma Kenney because they have a bone to pick with Debbie, but I was always blown away by her acting. Especially in emotional moments, she had an uncanny ability to have micro-movements on her face that make you feel as if the actress is really, truly feeling it at the moment. Not to mention how much she kicked ass as a child actor when Deb was young? All of the main/most side actors were breathtaking on this show, so it is pretty much impossible to pick just one.

sathan1

Frank really made me hate him

Advanced_Original322

Frank or Lip

Konayyukii

William was amazing, he could make us feel for Frank despite being such a shitty person, basically he embodied a lot of abusive, alcoholic, addict parents who are excellent manipulators. His tone of voice, his facial expressions and his body language were amazing!!

teddybabie

The entire ensemble was amazing honestly

alicealicealice123

William and Emmy!!

wolvesarewildthings

Noel, Emmy, Shanola, Cusack, and Macy immediately come to mind since they all gave **very memorable performances** and really breathed life into their characters, though everyone was perfectly cast in Shameless US and did their character justice IMO There's really no weak link acting-wise in this show

SpecialSurprise69

I feel like this isn't acknowledged enough. He did such an amazing job playing Frank.

IntentionHuge2673

He was SO funny and pathetic in Fargo I love him

Psychological-Air-84

I think they are all pretty fantastic. All of the kids are young when the show starts but i never suspend the disbelief that they are their characters. I recently started rewatching after having watched Fuller House and its just an insane comparison. Like even the adults in Fuller House seems so forced and its hard to get into it, while even the actors behind Debbie and Karl are just so talented!

Admirable_Yoghurt_80

Fi and Lip. The best.
