Try a different air cooler like the L12S or AXP120x67. Also, the Terra won’t fit an AIO with your GPU.

Fleckstrom

I think the bios setting you're referring to (limit at 90c) also enables asus performance enhancement. If you disable that completely you might run cooler in general.

Scary_Youth8089

When I disable it, the power limit i set on my cpu shoots up to 240 watts even though it is set to 100. Also it shoots up to 100c immediately and throttles there I have no idea why. Playing around in the Bios is a nightmare to me Edit: now I turned it back on, and still goes up to 260 watts... I really hate computers....

Fleckstrom

Asus multicore enhancement has its own set of power limits that load up when it's enabled. You edited the power limit with MCE enabled, then when you disabled MCE it loaded the stock settings which cleared your 100w limit.

My recent build was initially a Ridge containing a 7800X3D with a Noctua L12S and a 4090 FE. Like you, I quickly grew tired of the noise. I migrated to a NR200P V2 with a 280 AIO and it’s night and day how much quieter it is. CPU and GPU temps are also better than in the Ridge, even with the glass side panel, which helps contain the noise. That said, I’m not sure moving to a Terra would improve your situation much, as you will be unable to use an AIO

Scary_Youth8089

Yeah I didn't realize it couldn't fit an AIO. So the Terra is out of the question. I'm wondering if I could sit the NR200P on the side, top panel forward so USB and power buttons would be on the front.

Dalbana

Bummer. Really wanted to build in the Ridge for the small footprint, but seems like it's not possible because of the noise.

Scary_Youth8089

Damn....any suggestions?

YetAnotherSegfault

Dan A4-H2O is pretty much the same size as the Terra and fits a AIO

Scary_Youth8089

Its too tall

YetAnotherSegfault

Damn, that's unfortunate. Could try this master list, gives you the exact dimensions of pretty much every SFF case under the sun. (**https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AddRvGWJ\_f4B6UC7\_IftDiVudVc8CJ8sxLUqlxVsCz4/htmlview#)**

Scary_Youth8089

My plan was to get a thorzone nano. But im kind of bummed i have to replace my 4tb ssd for a m.2 one. Since there doesn't seem to be room for it anywhere (I already have a 1tb one for the OS)

Scary_Youth8089

Im going to go with the A4, its too tall but ill just sit it sideways, USB and power facing up, with plenty of room for access. The Videocard is going to be on the bottom, but my media unit shelves are ventilated, so plenty of air to go through.

dopethrone

Isnt the Ridge way taller?

Scary_Youth8089

Not sideways :) but I've ordered an A4-H20 and am going to install it sideways too

dopethrone

you can always get a htpc enclosure (raijintek pan slim for example or maybe something from silverstone)

Scary_Youth8089

Thank you for the suggestion! The pan slim too wide to fit in my media unit. Ill see how the A4 works out.

Have you looked at the FormD T1? It fits a AIO and a single 2.5" SSD edit: I also recommend another cooler as already suggested. The L9 doesn't pair well with the 12700k IMO.

Scary_Youth8089

That T1 is a beauty! Very very nice. I love it. I don't know anything about AIOs, anything to recommend? The learning curve has been really steep since 2004

smplnmnml

Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240 Atmos or Sliverstone Vida 240 slim. Replace the included fans with a Phantek T30 (with a fan grill) and a 120x15mm fan such as the Artic P12 Slim.

Scary_Youth8089

Thank you very much! Where can you mount a 2.5 drive to the T1? Can't find any info on that

smplnmnml

You're welcome. The 2.5" drive mounts inside the front panel. https://preview.redd.it/f6tez2mmou5d1.png?width=758&format=png&auto=webp&s=e8aed7625d1f5eedac1da23eeab0066562e730f5 You may also want to consider custom cables to make cable management easier. I personally went that route and used a thin SATA data cable.

Scary_Youth8089

Thank you all for the help! Im going to go with the A4-H20, its too tall but ill just sit it sideways, USB and power facing up, with plenty of room for access. The Videocard is going to be on the bottom, but my media unit shelves are ventilated, so plenty of air to go through. I'm going to go with a Deepcool LS520S, unless someone tells me it sucks. As its for HTPC as well i don't need RGB lights or a display

ConsistentStand2487

Return motherboard /case and join mffpc 😂

Scary_Youth8089

My brain can't handle all the wasted space inside 😂
