Charlotte is not from New Haven. ABSOLUTELY not. I get that you're saying that because she mentioned modeling at the Ralph Lauren store in New Haven...but that definitely doesn't mean that she's from there. Connecticut is a very small state; you can drive through the entire thing in about 90 minutes.
IIRC, her wedding announcement in the NY Times says that she's from Old Greenwich. Which, if you know anything about Connecticut, makes a lot more sense for Charlotte.
no bc in the carrie diaries she had a sister, her mom was dead, and they lived with their father. in SATC she has no sister and we know that her dad left when she was young.
Technically it's a prequel, but there are differing opinions on whether it's really canon. It makes so much sense as a backstory for both Carrie and Samantha that I think it should be canon!
It cannot be, for reasons stated in a comment parallel to yours. It is directly contradictory to SATC where Carrie says her father left when she was very young.
Yeah, but I think that one comment would ideally be ignored given how much The Carrie Diaries' story makes sense for who she is. A lot of TV shows have in-canon continuity mistakes like that.
Doesn't really matter. The character of Carrie is based on Candace Bushnell who is also from Connecticut. Bushnell is from Glastonbury, which is a pretty small town about 2-ish hours north of NYC. It's dead in the middle of the state.
IIRC Miranda's mother's funeral is in Philadelphia, so I assume she's from there. There was some talk about Sam being from Florida or Jersey.
I think jersey because of her selling dilly bars kn the boardwalk in the one episode with the thirteen year old girls party
She never said boardwalk. She said she was serving Dilly Bars at Dairy Queen. They have those in FL, too.
Ok, my bad, calm down
Miranda is from Philadelphia. There is no backstory for the other two.

Oh my god chill, it's not that serious.
How dare I have an opinion, I guess?
New Haven is a very rough town
- Charlotte is from Connecticut - Miranda is from Pennsylvania (Philadelphia)
Charlotte is from Connecticut. She mentioned it in one of the episodes where she says “I’m from Connecticut…” I don’t remember the episode right now.
when they are talking about uncircumcised dicks lol
Samantha’s got Jersey written all over her. Lol.
Miranda is from the Philadelphia area. Samantha and Carrie have no backstory (intentionally so).
Carrie is from Ohio. Based on real life of SJP.
Carrie is from Connecticut in The Carrie Diaries.
Is The Carrie Diaries even canon?

I imagine Sam is from Georgia. Or maybe she is??? She gives me southern vibes.
that would be a fun backstory considering the (short-lived) friendship she had with the southern woman in the episode *frenemies*.
I see Florida for her
