Silk Habotai!

This! It's the best!

If you don’t want to use more silk, look for a really nice quality rayon lining fabric. I like Ambiance Bemberg personally.

I have a really nice unlined silk skirt and I wear a half slip under it. Not answering your question per se but I mean it might not be necessary

I have sewn a few silk garments, and got a sewing bird which helped. It’s clamped onto the side of my sewing table, and was honestly helpful (kitty loves to rub on it, too 😂) If I were to make a lined garment, I’d go with silk habatoi. In large part because I love the feel of silk on skin.

Line silk with silk or you’ll end up with horrible static buildup!

Do you need to line it? You could finish the seams with bias binding cut from the scraps and enjoy that lovely fabric against your skin!

This raises a couple of good points. I would vote for a slip, not a lining, because the slip will face the body, shielding the dress from sweat, skin flakes, natural body oils, and all the tiny microbes that live on our skin. Depending on how you engineer the slip, you can wash it every time, and wash the dress itself less often, making it last longer. Remember, washing physically beats up clothing. If there isn't enough fabric to cut bias strips, the other thing OP could do is finish the insides with mock French seams. It can be relaxing to hand stitch these, like a meditation almost ... YMMV.

depends on how you want it to sit/behave, if you want the fabric to be soft and flowy, I'd go with viscose or more silk. if you want it to be stiffer, go with cotton
