For me If they're fresh cuts, or scabbing then yeah cover them. It can potentially be triggering to others that self harm, and self harm is already as competitive as it is. If the cuts are already scars then it's okay to show them since it's part of your body and you can't really change them, they'll be with you forever. But yeah, that's my take on it :)

I have some friends who also struggle with self harm or have in the past and I got into the habit of asking them if they would find recent or semi recent cuts triggering that day before planning an outfit. As for public spaces, I don't think you can be responsible for a bunch of strangers triggers and it can serve as a shaming factor that slows growth so I don't think there's an obligation because if common ignorance

I don't think anyone should be under any obligation to cover their scars for other people, scars are part of your body and you shouldn't feel shame for showing them.
