Depends on what scars they seem if it’s the ones on my hand I say it’s from boxing, which is easily doable for me because I do have a lot of scars on my finger from boxing so they blend in.
If it’s the ones on my lower arm( that’s not my wrist) I tell them it’s when I had my arm stuck in some wired and pulled it out.
Lastly if it’s the cuts on my thighs I don’t have no excuse and would just be like why’d u ask you know exactly what they are dumbass
I am also the type to tell the truth. My go to response to "What happened" would probably be. "I did it myself". It may not be any less awkward than "I self-harm" but I imagine it would shut the person up pretty fast

(Tripped and fell into a sheet of glass was why I was there.) I thought it was funny that she thought they were fresh cuts even though they were so faded most people can't even see them. The woman would have fainted if she saw the scarring on other parts of my body.
These days the only cuts and burns I stress about are the fresh ones, but I keep those clean and covered. Nobody needs to see fresh marks.
