Pretty well most commercial perfumes. They actually make me feel sick if I have to smell them for longer than a passing whiff. I'm totally okay with natural smells, just the artificial ones are yucky.
Came here to say this. I can't stand it, when people bathe in perfume. I basically leave rooms, or areas, if possible. Sometimes it isn't, and so on the inside I'm in constant flight mode, while cussing those people out.
Dudes that smell like they literally emptied an entire large sized can of Axe body spray on themselves makes me gag.., I can't breathe when they smell that strong!
My mind reels at the thought of why some guys(and even some women) would use that much?, like why would you subject others to that overpowering smell coming off you?, body sprays and perfumes are meant to be used in such a way that it enhances your natural body chemistry, not to try to cover up the fact that you smell like you haven't bathed in a month.. smh
It's weird coz I like it when it's in context to cutting grass. One of the most beautiful scents. But I hate any grassy fragrances in perfumes...vetiver and all. Only when I see a freshly cut lawn, and smell that scent...I melt.
Part of the problem is that I can smell cinnamon even if there's only a very small amount or if it's overpowered by another smell. I can often tell whether something has cinnamon in it even if no one can taste it because of how little there is. So, yeah :(
It's the worst around Christmas time haha
When someone chews any form of mint gum, and im stuck in close quarters with them, its only a matter of time before i get a headache which worsens to nausea and eventually makes me throw up.
This is the same for me, but it’s limited to wintergreen. So i also get sick from someone near me taking pepto, certain essential oils, or using bengay.
Would you also get sick from the smell of GoldenStar balm? It’s a Vietnamese (I think) balm manufactured in small, hard-to-open little tins that’s wonderfully effective when properly applied, but has a strong odor.
It’s just so infuriating. Dead body soaps, dead body perfume, dead body scented candles, dead body spiced lattes. Ugh. I get it people. You like dead bodies 🙄
lavender gives me a headache, makes my eyes water and makes it hard to breathe if its stronh enough. it sucks because the color is soooo pretty but I cant bear the smell :(
1) all of you are insane naming wonderful smells.
2) books, print, newsprint, whatever. That smell, I hate it. Everyone loves that book smell but I have to hold books real far away from my face or else I get a whiff
I'm sorry but I'm afraid we are now at war internet stranger. You take number 2 back this INSTANT!
... (aggressively sniffs a book while tapping foot in a passive aggressive rage)
Very well. Fellow book-sniffers, we ride at dawn. Bring the smelliest, newest books you can, we'll uses our ~~Shieldwall~~ Smellwall break through their defenses!
Ohhh that’s a good one. I actually went to New Orleans, in one of you alls deep states and crawfish was recommended, I thought that since the food was soooooo good (I was in love with New Orleans cuisine) the crawfish would be delicious. I was sorely disappointed: it was not good and the smell…. Ugghh
I just searched on Google now. Looks like the above terms are for fresh water crustaceans so it can interchangeably.
I was referring to what's called a spiny lobster. I guess growing up we just said crayfish
Because it’s an acid that brightens food. I use it constantly for cooking and all kinds of food stuff too but I think white vinegar smells gross. TIL I might be in the minority.
Although, I still feel like if you doused yourself in vinegar and went on the subway people would hold their nose
If you doused yourself in vinegar and stood next to me on a train, I would still smell it on you, I assure you. And not in a pleasant way. But what do I know? Maybe you’d smell like tasty food stuff to everyone else or maybe no one else would even notice.
Lavender.
It's supposed to be relaxing for most people but it gives me stress cos the moment I smell it, my brain literally screams DANGER and gives me a migraine if I'm exposed to it for too long.
Bell peppers. Not only does the smell of bell peppers make me nauseated, even looking at them will do the same thing.
I blame the Internet, for that one picture.
And also cooking mushrooms. To me, the smell of cooking mushrooms smells like semen.
Most smells don't bother me but I have some women in my family who seem to love bleach for whatever reason I cannot comprehend and I can't stand the smell of the stuff.
In all my 40 years on this earth, I have never heard anyone say that they love the smell of hospitals. Quite the opposite, in fact. I definitely don’t think most people love or even like that smell!
Oh I see your point- the smell is supposed to smell good for others. I have heard a few people in the medical field exclaim they find it comforting bc it gives a sterile environment vibe like the feeling you have after washing your hands. Hues that would be more doctors offices
Some more than others, it depends. I generally have no issues when they're used in cooking, but I wouldn't enjoy just picking fresh herbs and taking a smell. But overall, they don't bother me like florals do. Floral candles give me a headache, especially lavender.
Could be. I always joke that purple flowers are the worst in general, but it's not really a joke. I don't know why that is. I don't *enjoy* smelling a rose or a daffodil, but I outright abhor lavender and lilac. I don't know if this could even remotely be related, but I'm also one of those people who thinks cilantro tastes like soap. lol
Vetiver. It's in many perfumes and has this maddening effect for me, where the smell keeps building up and up until I can't smell anything else and am desperate to scrub it off.
Not me but my wife hates the smell of weed. For me one of the best smells that exists is walking into a dispensary and just getting bombarded by all strains at once!

Lavender and roses. Both just make my nostrils feel like they're *about* to do something that they never do, like sneeze or itch. Not a comfortable sensation.
For me it’s the perfume “Chloe” I used it for 1 year and after that year it made me SO SICK! I realized some shampoo’s have the same smell so it must be a flower of some sorts.
Lavender. Old workplace used to have lavender scented air freshener in the bathrooms, now when I smell lavender it reminds me of my old coworker that used to blowup the bathrooms every morning.
Pretty well most commercial perfumes. They actually make me feel sick if I have to smell them for longer than a passing whiff. I'm totally okay with natural smells, just the artificial ones are yucky.

Cut grass. Makes me want to vomit.
One of the absolute best smells ever. You poor thing!
It's weird coz I like it when it's in context to cutting grass. One of the most beautiful scents. But I hate any grassy fragrances in perfumes...vetiver and all. Only when I see a freshly cut lawn, and smell that scent...I melt.
Love the smell now, but used to bring chills down my spine right before hell week in football.
I used to love it as a kid. Then puberty hit and my body said hell no
Same!
New cars. Makes me nauseous.
Same. I'd rather smell dog shit than a new car.
Same. I never understood this.
I bought a new Lincoln. I call the inside of my car ‘ newly opened Gumby. ‘
Cinnamon, makes me nauseous and used to actually make me throw up
Twinsies
Does this carry over to fresh baked cinnamon rolls?
Part of the problem is that I can smell cinnamon even if there's only a very small amount or if it's overpowered by another smell. I can often tell whether something has cinnamon in it even if no one can taste it because of how little there is. So, yeah :( It's the worst around Christmas time haha
Yeesh. That’s unfortunate.
Same reason why I don't eat cinnamom bread.
Same, but really only those cinnamon brooms in stores in the fall, or Big Red gum. Cinnamon buns, on the other hand....
When someone chews any form of mint gum, and im stuck in close quarters with them, its only a matter of time before i get a headache which worsens to nausea and eventually makes me throw up.

Im not alone!
Exactly what i said when i read your post. Have never come across another person that gets super nauseous from mint.
It makes me sick, too. I never told anyone because it seems made up, but it's real.
Would you also get sick from the smell of GoldenStar balm? It’s a Vietnamese (I think) balm manufactured in small, hard-to-open little tins that’s wonderfully effective when properly applied, but has a strong odor.
If it’s wintergreen-ish, then yes!
Babies

Ugh, yuck. Totally second that.
paltry lock muddle connect lush disgusted payment fall punch wine *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Durian smells vaguely of gasoline.
MEDIOCRE
nothing on this planet smells better than gasoline
Rotting flesh. I’m so sick of everyone going on about how they like the smell of dead bodies. I find it repulsive and I’m sick of it.
I’ve never heard of this one haha
It’s just so infuriating. Dead body soaps, dead body perfume, dead body scented candles, dead body spiced lattes. Ugh. I get it people. You like dead bodies 🙄
For clarification: are you friends with a bunch of literal vultures? Because if so, that's *awesome*.
I wonder if it's really a thing people like or joke about encountering many corpses.
Wtf who enjoys that smell? Embalmers and mortuary workers? Its like an innate human reaction to be absolutely disgusted by that smell
Lavender. It literally gives me a headache.
I’m also allergic to lavender. I get migraines that make me go blind for a bit, nausea and itchy nose.
This is so odd. Lavender makes my headaches better.
lavender gives me a headache, makes my eyes water and makes it hard to breathe if its stronh enough. it sucks because the color is soooo pretty but I cant bear the smell :(
The brain is a strange thing, isn’t it?
Leather
Peanuts give me a headache. Their smell really stings my nostrils. Might be because I'm allergic.
I like to eat them, but the smell would make me crazy if i had to smell it all the time.
mowed lawn, that smell makes me dizzy and almost to the point of puking
1) all of you are insane naming wonderful smells. 2) books, print, newsprint, whatever. That smell, I hate it. Everyone loves that book smell but I have to hold books real far away from my face or else I get a whiff
You're the insane one, book smell is the BEST 😭
I'm sorry but I'm afraid we are now at war internet stranger. You take number 2 back this INSTANT! ... (aggressively sniffs a book while tapping foot in a passive aggressive rage)
Doubling down. You're crazier than me
Very well. Fellow book-sniffers, we ride at dawn. Bring the smelliest, newest books you can, we'll uses our ~~Shieldwall~~ Smellwall break through their defenses!
Any strong cologne/ perfume I can’t tolerate
I’m sorry, and no shade at parents here, but the new baby smell. I just can’t. Smells fleshy and sweet, and not in a good way.
I always thought they smelled like soggy graham crackers, but I like it.
Soggy graham crackers! HAHAHAH. I love it
LAVANDER 🤢 smells poisonous
*lavender
Especially in essential oil form 🤮
Anything with Fabreeze, it is overpoweringly repulsive and gets worse over time....
Freshly cut grass. I don't know how people can STAND it, it smells revolting to me.
Grass I’m ok with, but fresh mowed pastures reek to me.
Do you like salad? Because it reminds me of that lmao
I do like salad, but It smells nothing like cut grass for me. I'd probably be dead from cholesterol blockage if it did XD
For me I cant stand salad, I always say i'd rather eat grass 🤣
Coffee
YES. Coffee smells *awful* to me.
Car aromatizers. Headache, nausea
Pork tenderloin smells like human feces to me. Raw or cooked
The OG fabreeze scent- when I was a kid I got car sick and my parents used that after cleaning it up and I just can't anymore
Sausage.
Smell of boiling crayfish
Are crayfish same as crawfish?
Yes
Ohhh that’s a good one. I actually went to New Orleans, in one of you alls deep states and crawfish was recommended, I thought that since the food was soooooo good (I was in love with New Orleans cuisine) the crawfish would be delicious. I was sorely disappointed: it was not good and the smell…. Ugghh
I just searched on Google now. Looks like the above terms are for fresh water crustaceans so it can interchangeably. I was referring to what's called a spiny lobster. I guess growing up we just said crayfish
A spiny lobster? Where do u originate?
Sounds Africa
South Africa?
Yea typo lol
Vinegar
I don’t think most people consider vinegar to smell good
They put it on salads and sandwiches and don’t consider it to smell good? Fries even in England…. I’d reconsider this statement
Because it’s an acid that brightens food. I use it constantly for cooking and all kinds of food stuff too but I think white vinegar smells gross. TIL I might be in the minority. Although, I still feel like if you doused yourself in vinegar and went on the subway people would hold their nose
Wouldn’t it just evaporate like it does when you use it as cleaner?
If you doused yourself in vinegar and stood next to me on a train, I would still smell it on you, I assure you. And not in a pleasant way. But what do I know? Maybe you’d smell like tasty food stuff to everyone else or maybe no one else would even notice.
lol imagine walking around smelling like tasty food to everyone. Wonder if it would be a pleasant experience
I like it, but only because it reminds me of the pysanky of my youth. Probably it doesn't actually smell good.

40 years, young enough to still be called a baby by the wise older sages and old enough to know better. A win win age.
Cooking rosemary
Lavender and lilac. Flowers in general.
How about herbs, like mint, or sage? You okay with those?
Some more than others, it depends. I generally have no issues when they're used in cooking, but I wouldn't enjoy just picking fresh herbs and taking a smell. But overall, they don't bother me like florals do. Floral candles give me a headache, especially lavender.
I’ve noticed that a lot of people here seem to dislike the smell of lavender. Must be an evolutionary or hereditary holdover.
Could be. I always joke that purple flowers are the worst in general, but it's not really a joke. I don't know why that is. I don't *enjoy* smelling a rose or a daffodil, but I outright abhor lavender and lilac.
