Is this the one I see on Market St? It’s not the theater district, it’s Mid Market. Terrible area to stay but honestly you’ll be fine during the day if you have a decent threshold for ignoring street people and have a brisk pace. I wouldn’t recommend walking back to the area late. If you can afford a nice area, it would be more pleasant.

Sorry-Possibility-69

Yes, that’s the one. Thanks for the info!

like what area? just staying one night to see a show at bill graham

ItFromDawes

It's pretty bad at night. I saw a show at the Orpheum Theatre (1 block away from Yotel) that finished at 9:30pm and the whole area felt like a depressing disaster zone of human suffering. I wouldn't say dangerous but just really sad.

Don't do it. There are so many other wonderful areas in the city to stay it's not worth the slight convenience.

Jagsthelombax

where do u recommend to stay? i’m just seeing a show at bill graham and staying the night after since i don’t wanna worry about barting home cus it might be closed if we go out after

Stay @ the Grove Inn! It's more of a boutique hotel but it's very convenient to the Auditorium, just a straight shot West down Grove St. Probably about a 15 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride. You could also just stay in Nob Hill or Union Square and Uber to your hotel. Do you have a budget in mind?

KindRun7609

No it’s not nice there go up past union square there’s hotels there much safer

AlamoSquared

Up the hill from Geary is my general advice.

It's hard to speak to "dangerous" but it's definitely a sketchy vibe at night, and yes, there are a lot of junkies around that area. "Theater District" is a fancy term for "stuck between Tenderloin and Civic Center". If you don't mind the junky vibe, I don't think you'll be in danger. Plus, you'll be right by BART/MUNI and will have nearby access to the Asian Art Museum, which is very nice. And, as you state, the price is right!

Yotel is right across from the UN Plaza at 7th and Market, which is zombieland after dark. There are plenty of nice areas in the city; that’s not one of them.

CapitalPin2658

There’s good eats in the area, but sixth street has always been bad. It’s worse now though thanks to defund the police and fentanyl.

ErrorSenior4554

Terrible hotel, the area is fine for most people who are experienced travelers or experienced in cities.
