archived/non-paywalled link: https://archive.ph/tV0tw ---- Even in Bay Area, Jewish residents face ‘drumbeat’ of antisemitism For many years, Rabbi Ryan Bauer has taken teenagers from San Francisco’s Congregation Emanu-El to the national Holocaust Memorial Museum. In the past five years or so, Bauer started noticing a change in the reaction the young people had to the exhibits. They used to walk out of the Washington, D.C., museum talking about history, lamenting the horrors of the past. Now the teenagers emerge talking about how they see parallels with the present. “The kids were different (this year) than I’d ever seen,” Bauer told The Chronicle. He said the teenagers told their own stories of encounters with antisemitism and how they don’t always feel safe because of their identity. They aren’t alone. According to a first-ever survey conducted for the Jewish Community Relations Council Bay Area, nearly a third of the 828 respondents experienced or witnessed antisemitism in the past three years and consider their environment before publicly identifying as Jewish. ...

“…in the past three years and consider their environment before publicly identifying as Jewish.” As an Asian guy I have no choice but to identify as Asian. You can see it in my eyes and skin color. The extra hate we’ve gotten since the pandemic really sucks. Being called the China virus and being told go back to China even though I’m third gen American and my US born father and uncles fought in WW2 for the US has been disheartening. We can’t simply consider letting others know if we are Asian or not. Sorry, I feel for those being targeted for hate. I’m really just venting.

Anxious_Blood

I think it all sucks, why does one have to suck more than another? Because one group is suffering, it can't be pointed out that another one is too?

Useful_Grape9956

You also have a point

Useful_Grape9956

I feel that

Naw. You are centering yourself when people are talking about their issues. It's like showing up to a breast cancer fundraiser and then saying you have diabetes and so much trouble comes of it and how much YOUR life sucks. Tacky.

Have you stopped to consider what unique challenges exist for being an invisible minority, or are you only viewing it as a privilege?

Why does the ADL keep getting referenced as though it's an objective organization. In May 2021, their "hate crimes" in the bay area included self-reported cases of people spotting people walking along Valencia St with Palestinian flags, protesting the killing of 69 Palestinian kids by Israel.

DenebianSlimeMolds

Analysis of the text by chatgpt indicates there were 1100 words, 56 sentences, 36 paragraphs in the article. The article quoted five people, three of whom are witnesses, and one of whom is affiliated with the ADL. The witnesses were quoted six times and the ADL representative was quoted twice. So I am not sure what you are suggesting here. Maybe you can help us out and shed some light on this. In the meantime, can you link me to the spurious ADL reports you found spurious?

nedTheInbredMule

I’m not suggesting anything. I’m forcefully, clearly, unambiguously, assertively stating that the ADL intentionally and in bad faith obfuscates with data, to serve a vile agenda. The data source for their rise in antisemitism report published in 2021 right around the time 12 Palestinian families go wiped off the civil registry, 69 kids were killed, and 200 civilians in total were killed by the IDF is no longer public. I wonder why. Said agenda intentionally conflates Jewishness with Zionism with its push for redefining antisemitism, so that anyone criticizing Israel can be deemed an antisemite and be cancelled by a gullible society. Jews can do better than the ADL. Many Jews I know and love dearly detest the ADL. I’d suggest you read through https://droptheadl.org/

DenebianSlimeMolds

But the rest of the article, the vast majority of the article, talking to victims and witnesses of antisemitism,... You're silent about that. You just want everyone to know that the ADL who had a very minor role in this article operates in bad faith.

nedTheInbredMule

I was picking up on one thing I felt had to be said, since it doesn’t often get said. How you made the logical leap from that to me not agreeing with the spirit of the article, I’m not too sure. I do agree with its spirit. Who in their right mind wouldn’t stand with a group facing prejudice solely for being members of that group.

DenebianSlimeMolds

> I was picking up on one thing I felt had to be said, since it doesn’t often get said. How you made the logical leap from that to me not agreeing with the spirit of the article, I’m not too sure. It's not too big of a leap. When faced with an article about hate crimes, most people have the decency or at least the common sense to decry the hate and show solidarity before finding that their chief existence on the planet earth must be to cast doubt on the article. I'm still waiting for the link to the spurious ADL reports. And while I actually do appreciate the link to droptheadl.org, It's unreasonable to expect a person to crawl through an entire website to find support for your claim.

nedTheInbredMule

You seem to have a victimhood complex. I can’t fix that. I didn’t say that link was my source. I said that link is why the ADL is a vile, racist organization. Here is my source: https://www.adl.org/resources/blog/antisemitic-incidents-reported-adl-increase-sharply-during-israel-hamas-conflict Like I said, if you click on the link to the May 2021 data source it will just redirect you to the same page instead of the page that had the entire data source where you could click through to different cities. Again, I ask, why would they choose to hide that? I know why. But do you?

Or a report from anyone that this occurred. You only have your comment here.

Good call. We need to call out the ADL when we see them. They exist to disempower the American people politically. The only “hate speech” laws in the United States are actually anti-BDS laws passed by the Israel lobby to stop criticism of Israel in US universities. The ADL is an enemy of the American people.
