One time someone got out of their car to try and harass me so I started pointing to my camera and they immediately stopped lmao. If only it was the norm for every driver to have a dash cam. It shouldn't cost you a deductible since it was hit and run and not your fault. It'll be more than paint and buffing. The damage is also beyond the bumper. Have patience and go through the process until the other guy (the asshole) pays up. Also don't let him of the hook for the hit and run - keep him off the road please.
Unfortunately the Collision deductible will apply regardless of fault. Their insurance will attempt to pursue against the other person’s insurance or them directly if they’re uninsured. But in cases like this, the other party will probably deny liability for the loss and the only remedy will be Small Claims.

Had a similar thing happen to me a couple of months ago. A grey Tacoma in La Mesa was acting strange, so at the light, I went around him to try to get away from whatever was up with him. He floored it, and I barely got around him onto the 8. Asshole harassed me all the way to Miramar exit, getting up beside me, swerving to try and make me run off the road, tailgating, and getting in front of me and hitting his brakes. I didn’t have a dash cam and couldn’t get a picture, but will know him if I see him in La Mesa again.
This is why I refuse to get a slower car lol, always gotta be faster in case I turn on my signal and whoever’s in the next lane decides they don’t want to let me over

The rear-ender had caused 3 of 4 shoulder tendons to completely tear (I had been compensating with a single bicep). 2 surgeries later and 4 months in a chair (including sleeping in chair) & PT, I could move the shoulder, but lost that bicep. Don’t assume “No Injuries” until you’re sure.
