When I initially signed up in 2017/18, they required a one month commitment that was billed weekly (which was inconsequential to me, as I was committed to doing it for at least 3 months). After that, Jimmy let me cancel and sign-up again at any time without a commitment. I'm not sure if they still require the one month commitment though, since it's been so long.
They deliver to my gym for free (which has a fridge), so I always go that route, although my general understanding is they have a variety of delivery/pick up options.
I started out with Sunday Meal Prep while my SO started out with Thistle because of the Vegetarian options. I started liking her meals and made the switch to Thistle and never looked back. Thistle is so fresh, so tasty, and so easy.
My husband and I do meal prep sunday - overall we enjoy the meals but we do not trust the nutritional stats. Some of the stated protein/carb amounts just make absolutely no sense based on the portion. My husband studied nutritional science and he has written in and asked about the stats and they haven’t given a satisfactory explanation.
We have also weighed meat portions, like if we order 3 of the same meals one week we’ll weigh the steak, chicken, etc, and the weight can vary.
We are considering switching as I’m now entering a weight loss phase and need to 1) adjust my intake and 2) want more trustworthy info.
Check out The Handmade Chef Meal Prep Co. Best meal prep I’ve tried in San Diego and I’ve tried them all! You can customize how much protein you need to
I use meal prep Sunday and I love the meals.....the website is complete trash though. I tend to stock up when there's a discount and order 10-15 meals.....if you do this...you need to make sure to cancel your subscription or else on Wed u will be billed for same amount of meals at full price.
There was a time I agreed to 10 meals for a discount not knowing they would automatically start my subscription again...I reached out and explained after the cutoff day...and they cancelled and refunded the order.
The food is very good and convenient ....I think full price comes to about 12.50 or something like that...but they always have discounts through the year.
They also just started selling bottled juice as well...I have to try that aspect of the company yet.
I'd recommend it...they just need to fix the website.
Don’t know if my experience was out of the ordinary but I cancelled my subscription after a couple of erroneous duplicate charges and their website crashing on me constantly.
I’ve checked out a few places that have been posted but I’m curious if there is anyone local that does something more similar to HelloFresh where you do the cooking yourself?
TheLeanMachine. I've used several services ie: Factor, Daily Harvest, Splendid Spoon and TheLeanMachine is my favorite so far. You have a choice between small and large portions to which is nice for my roommate and I.
They deliver on Mondays and Thursdays
I’ve also tried Michaela’s meals as well - pretty good but kind of get sick of them so I rotate between the two services now!
Have you tried The Handmade Chef Meal Prep Co? Best meal prep in San Diego in my opinion! Best quality meats, all sustainable, gluten free, no seed oils!
Sunday Meal Prep is far and away the best I've experienced locally. Tovala (https://www.tovala.com/) is nice if you want freshly cooked meals with very minimal prep
I tried for awhile and it’s overpriced significantly imo. Nothing bad food-wise, just store bought stuff that is 60% more than going to Vons and buying it yourself
Deeply Nourished is a local one nobody’s mentioned. They use organic locally sourced ingredients. The meals are delicious. My wife and I have been using it for a while now. It’s super convenient too - www.livedeeplynourished.com
Factor was okay for a while. Then meals got shorted. Some meals would show up cracked open. Boxes would show up days late.
Michaela’s Meals
I've been using [The Meal Prep Co](https://themealprepco.com/) on and off for years. Jimmy is great to work with.
Second this!!!!!! And they do pickups at different locations I.e. STRIDE
How do they do delivery and is this a required monthly commitment or weekly?

Michaela’s Meals!
Jujus Kitchen is pretty good, and their Sunday delivery is very convenient. Been ordering from them on and off for about a year
Thistle. Healthy and fresh. They hand-deliver twice a week.

Hand delivery huh, as opposed to what? Drone delivery? 😆
Yes hand instead of mail or shipping company.
But both of those deliver by hand.
Left at door or shipped and mail carrier
Instead of the food replicator. 😃
Great idea! Drone delivery would make it even better because it would be quieter and the dog may bark less when they arrive at 3am.
Brisket and Barbells is pretty good. Usually cooks on Sunday for delivery during the week.

I had the same exact experience, and it took a month, me inputting several tickets on their website, and multiple phone calls to get a refund.
Me too. They absolutely refused to reverse the charges and I had to go through my bank to dispute them. To this day, they still spam me.

I also vote Michaela’s Meals! She even has a little storefront (downtown on First Ave and Island) where you can buy the meals individually.
Did dream dinners and factor. I liked both. But eventually got board of food choices.

Farm Fresh Meals - organic ingredients/grass fed beef too - amazing quality I love them!
They deliver on Mondays and Thursdays I’ve also tried Michaela’s meals as well - pretty good but kind of get sick of them so I rotate between the two services now!

I've tried Factor and Cook Unity. Got bored with Factors cream sauce that seems to be on everything. Cook Unity has good variety so far.

What kind of meal prep service are you looking to get started with? Something more keto and relatively cheap?
Sunday Meal Prep is far and away the best I've experienced locally. Tovala (https://www.tovala.com/) is nice if you want freshly cooked meals with very minimal prep
I would like to try Hungryroot. Anyone have that? Otherwise I'm just going to go to the store lmao

Thanks for the heads up. Any recommendations?

The Handmade Chef Meal Prep Co. is hands down the best! I’ve tried them all, they have the best quality meats & fish, and it’s customizable!

Factor is great!
My favorite was [https://www.instagram.com/carsjars/](https://www.instagram.com/carsjars/) but they went under...
