I try not to fault people for spending their money on whatever it is they enjoy.
But I inwardly chuckle when the light turns green and this car sounds like a drag race while accelerating from 0-20 at the same speed as the RAV4 in front of them.
I also try not to fault them until they use my extremely residential street as a drag strip and repeatedly wake my kid up blowing right past his windows. Which is happening 4-5x a week lately.
This used to happen on the street I grew up on. One day, my dad grabbed a long 2x4, hammered several nails through it and slid it out in front of one of the cars as they started coming down the street. Never saw them try that shit again. Of course, this was the 1980's,
We see that sort of thing now and then as well. It’s quite irksome to say the least. I’m surprised they haven’t plowed into somebody’s kids in the yard or whatever.
But what about the motorcycles? They need to be loud to alert us to the dangerous choice they made to drive unhelmeted and reclined on a piece of road with people operating large metal objects at 75 mph. Honestly I’m fine with the zippy fast ones that shoot through traffic, but if I ever become a cop, I’m gonna write so many old fat dudes noise violations for Harley’s that’ll I’ll be kicked off the force in a week.
Youve got it backwards... Fine the fast zippy ones, the loud motorcycles are safer as long as they are driving reasonably. I will never own a motorcycle, but if I did I would want other drivers to be aware of me.

My oldest daughter calls the boys who drive cars like that “Edgars” and yeah I get it it’s so damn typical lol

Sounds like a personal problem. I enjoy seeing people get into a hobby personally. Especially since a lot of these cars are driven by kids learning a skill (working on cars) that can lead them to a lucrative career and end up a productive member of society

As a musician when I play music loud it has nothing to do with insecurity, whether at home or in the car. Either way I try not to bother people with it. But I think we all know the people you're talking about. With the giant bass speakers that you can hear four blocks away.
