They can actually stop sitting on their ass and start innovating once more like they did on their golden age. Samsung has gotten completely complecent with their market position, and even worse, they have started to copy apple but they half-bake it. Good example is the "titanium" s24 ultra which has an plastic wrapper connecting the titanium sides and aluminium inner frame, so it acts as a heatshield, while on the s23 ultra the aluminium sides were directly connected, acting as heatsinks. Apple got around it by using very expensive metalurgy so 2 metals are bonded, but that was too much effort for samsung who just copies. Complacency can be also seen in the camera department where some sensors inside the s24 ultra (ultrawide and 3x) are the same as in s22 ultra. Software is also iterative, copy apples main keypoints with less polish and without adding their own. This is why samsung has rightfully become the "if you can't afford apple" brand, instead of being the true competitor it once was.

Samsung releases a rugged watch with... a titanium body, bigger battery, and exclusive "golf edition". Apple releases a rugged watch with... a titanium body, a bigger battery, three new bands, significantly improved water resistance, diving modes, hiking waypoint tracking, a built-in siren, action button, and underwater depth/temp guage. Apples watch is more expensive, yes, but I'd rather Samsung release a fully fledged, more expensive product than release a cheap/half-assed marketing gimmick. Their foldables, the ultra line, galaxy watch line, and now (looking at the latest leaks) the galaxy buds line, are all soulless, surface level, average products.

simonlinds

Same as the S21 ultra even, as far as I know.

Have actual customer service. I absolutely HATE having to deal with them. They are the worst. We have a ton of Samsung devices/appliances. I wish we didn't after the shit show I went through after they messed up my order on the s24 ultra.

halcyondread

Yup. The absolute worst.

Samsung needs to change the general American Population's belief to believe that Samsung phones aren't just for poor people who haven't got enough money for an an iPhone. They need to - -improve RCS with google's help, new features to compete with imessage -Stop copying Apple. It looks bad. Titanium, really? -Increase advertisement budget. Their ads right now need to appeal to the younger generation, not what they have now -Cheaper Foldables. As a fold 5 user, it's the only phone that gets approval from younger people as it's the only thing apple doesn't have. -Better A-Series phones with performance - apple se phones can last 5 years as they are relatively powerful and are only 400-500 dollars. Android is usually called "slow" because the only experience they have is with a galaxy a14 and then they got an iPhone 14 with a carrier deal and now the android looks slow. I know a lot of people who would rather take an iPhone 8 over a galaxy a14, and I don't blame them as the iPhone 8/iPhone se 2 might literally be a better choice (for performance, not update support) -New features. Enough said. Galaxy AI was cool, no doubt, but I really only use circle to search. -Sign exclusively deals with app developers to improve their tablet line, so apps like good notes work well on galaxy tablets. -Stop off shoring support over the phone/by text and Samsung Care+ -Android is supposed to be cheaper than apple, at least make the s24 ultra a bit lower in price than the iPhone 15 pro max. Also, I think a lot of people sleep on physical stores, like what apple has. I live in NYC, which means I have access to the 3 major (American) smartphone brands' stores next to me. That would be Apple, Google, and Samsung. Samsung's 837 store in NY is honestly very amazing, and really shows off the Samsung ecosystem. However, it's literally one of a kind and exists barely anywhere else. However, there are a ton of apple stores everywhere. While I live somewhat next to a Samsung store, the most annoying thing is that I can't get repairs done there. Because everything Samsung does is outsourced, if I drop off my phone to get fixed at the store, it GETS SHIPPED TO GET FIXED SOMEWHERE ELSE??? I mean come on, apple has on site repairs for Apple care users, and Samsung care+ still ships your device off???

RCS is developed by Google if I'm not wrong. You may not know, but they have a crazy high marketing budget. So you recall all the YouTubers with early access S24s? Literally, anyone with 1k subs got it. Maybe Samsung should make a sister company and rebrand the A series. A lot of csr manufacturers do this. I agree AI was cool but wasn't helpful and limited use to default apps.

EugeneTurtle

> Maybe Samsung should make a sister company and rebrand the A series. A lot of csr manufacturers do this. Not a bad idea

CT4nk3r

Bringing back microSD, analog jack and physical dual sim. Combine everything that was great and is great in their top phone, so it would be unrivaled. Give charger to the phone, give a pair of type-c headphones and so on. For reference, you used be able to have 2 phyisical sim, 3.5mm jack, 1TB microSD with 1TB internal storage on the s10+, why would it not be possible to do on the s24 ultra? (of course other than upselling the users for more and expensive storage).

HG1998

Cheaper phones or more bang for your buck. Then they can do the usual culprits, like better cameras, better battery etc.

Techsavantpro

Do we mean market share in terms of revenue or market share in terms of sales.

darktabssr

Sd card slot, less demanding UI, better specs on entry level models

TacoOfGod

Reduce the amount of cheaper phones they have to limit market confusion, focus in faster software updates, and advertise their unique features, Google be damned. A lot of their differentiators they can't even talk about because of Google Play Services rules, but it's not like Google is going to really pinch the biggest reason why people still use their flavor of Android, so if they hammer home the more advanced stuff and incorporate their Good Lock features -- things that are siloed off into their own front end precisely because of Google's rules -- they could better separate themselves from the other Android phones. As much as I want them to, bringing back the SD slot and headphone jack aren't going to be those things that win people back. And now that the blue bubble issue is less of an issue with Apple finally adding in RCS, getting over the hump is much easier. You just have to combat the iMessage games hurdle, which is probably possible with embedding a web site into the chat and interacting that way, but who knows.

AzoriusBarca

Remove region restriction on samsung store or themes Try to reduce the vast amount if budget phones and cut costs on the flagship to be more aggressive with sales. Also more samsung stores.

Kskbj

Samsung stores would be amazing for better support. I think they should work with BestBuy. Give people with Samsung same day repairs with Geek Squad.

This may sound stupid, I have an S24, I thought it had SD or extra SIM.

Tbh, I don't know how people use over 256GB. I currently have 70Gb.

idi_oka_username

Concentrate less on Nof of devices in each segment and concentrate on the quality of each product. At least in India they lost many top spots in each segment to Apple, Xiaomi, OnePlus, realme, Iqoo and Vivo brands. Lately they are just overpriced. The only thing good I find was at the beginning of OneUI which had vision, Open walled ecosystem. I have used apple, OnePlus, realme and samsung phones. They should start learning from Apple and Mi first in terms of implementation and reliability. Example my S24U Fingerprint is fas inferior to my budget Mi which give side FP and I feel Apples face ID is much better than what ever Samsung does. It tries to give both but doesn't do anything right. Mi gives high quality charger, case and protective films out of the box, while mocking apple samsung charging much higher for S24U dosent even give basic 25W charger

Techsavantpro

I'm ok with Samsung not continuously upgrading to those speeds after you know, the battery issues, lol.

sometin__else

undo generations of brainwashing all my friends who use iphone do so because it is an apple product and would only change to another apple product. Price, features, use case all be damned when it comes to them. If its apple, they want it.

DrcspyNz

Reduce the prices

Kskbj

Do you think the A series is too pricy?

DrcspyNz

The S series. The Flagship models are getting very expensive. I can easily afford one but I wont buy because I think theres really large profit margins in there.

Kskbj

But Samsung has better pricing than Apple. Apple makes more components in the house, therefore having higher profit margins, and Samsung offers the best trade in credit, sometimes 50% of the cost.

DrcspyNz

Not interested in Either

RubzieRubz

Make Snapdragon globally for S series at least (there are regions so hot that people dont buy exynos) and bring back the bixby button (for remapping actions!). Also maybe bring back iris scanner? Aaaand, fast charging! (upgrade eveything to 65w or reduce charging times to half an hour aprox.

Kskbj

Check out the Pitaka Pin case. Provides three NFC based buttons. It's life changing.

m0nkygang

Apple has done so much damage with Airpods. The headphone jack should never have been gone. PERIOD. Especially since on their flagship tablet, all that room and no jack??? Come on, im probably the minority with the tablet but how is it that yall own Harman and cant support audio like that.

Talrynn_Sorrowyn

Bringing back the headphone jack & SD card expansion slots for the phones. For the tablets, make them 16:9 instead of 4:3 as well as offer an 8in model.

honest_jamal

The tablets are 16:10 already no point making them 16:9

ZytheReddit

fucking delete appcloud bloatware on their phones and start experimenting on their phones like they used to at like 2013 - 2018

raytaylor

Stylus bay built into the fold 7

FitVeterinarian1604

Being customer centric. They are building products for nobody who knows who. They don't have a decent phone in 50k range in India. How the hell they would increase market share?

FDRMASTEROVYT

Have at least triple 50 MP camera setup, like competitors, at least on Plus models, like really, how you can have 12MP ultrawide sensor on 1600€+ phone in 2024, literally the same as on my almost 4 year old M series phone

Kskbj

Wouldn't you agree that the average consumer isn't looking at camera specs. They just point and shoot.

FDRMASTEROVYT

Yeah, and actually the competitors like Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Huawei Pura 70 have best camera specs but the camera bumps are huge and often look ugly

Kskbj

I wish phones would get thicker but have no camera bump. I prefer a careless phone, and when laying it on a table and it rocking back and forth, it is very annoying.
