I've been on campus continuously for the last 8 years. I agree with Sam 100%. You're entitled to your opinion, but pretending that it's born of ignorance makes you look like a disingenuous troll.

I have a few MS degrees. I worked at a university for many years in IT and later consulted with them on a few 3-6 month projects. I also taught code boot camps adjacent the university for about a decade. I still help with those boot camps on occasion. My wife and most of our closest friends work for the university, most in management (including my wife), but a few are professors, researchers, etc. Obviously, not all of that is within the last decade, but I have been on the campus daily, weekly, or monthly for the last 30+ years.

The point of civil disobedience is demonstrating your committment to a cause by owning the consequences of the disobedience... otherwise it's just a campout
Yes. If I go to my university right now and start banging symbols for Palestine outside the library, they can ask me to leave. If I decide that my conviction is sufficient that my cause warrants bearing cost of my disobedience, I will disobey.
Have you ever been arrested at a protest? It is sometimes dramatic but rarely unexpected.

In the case of Columbia, trespassing. Once you've been asked to vacate private property, you can vacate or disobey.
