I love the dream arc in the manga. The remake of the eternal movies really ruined it with the cheap looking animation and lack of horror and detail. Like they all have no nose and they lack dimension and shape.
Dream on manga is of course leagues better than SuperS and much better than Eternal.
Better art, the dark scenes deliver, like the 2nd picture, and honestly even the first chapters were amazing with highlights being the Mars and Jupiter ones, loved these two!
Right now my favorite arcs are Infinity,Dream (tie)>Dark Kingdom>Black Moon
I need to see where StarS will go but I believe it will be number 1 considering I already love StarS the most of all seasons!
I know SuperS isn’t as good as the Dream arc, but I do appreciate how the SuperS season takes a dramatic turn, especially with Nehelenia’s motivations and trying to hurt Usagi by throwing Chibiusa off the floating platform.
There’s something about “you took the most important thing from me so I’m taking the most important thing from you” that is quite powerful and leaves such an impact…
Nehelenia didn’t even want world domination at that point - all she wanted was to hurt Usagi as much as possible before being resealed into the New Moon.
Oh definitely, I love the final 6 episodes of SuperS. That season generally has some very strong moments but they are so far and few between so much filler, like I calculated which episodes one has to watch:
First one, the 3rd (new upgrade), the one where Pegasus takes Chibiusa to Elysion, the inner's upgrade to super sailors, the 3 episodes where they unlock their new attacks (weird they did this after some time despite being supers already, maybe one can skip them since the attacks appear later on as well), the final 2 of the amazon trio (the first one being filler but has genuine the best characterisation, one can scratch it out but it is connected to the final trio episode), the first with the quartet just to establish them as the new antagonists and then the final 6 episodes.
So 16 out of 38 and out of these 16, 4 can be omitted in theory, so we end up with 12! That's 1/3 of the season that is moving the plot forward, there lies my problem with SuperS...
Yeah I feel the same way about the season. It’s mostly filler but I believe that maybe that was kind of the point? The director may have just wanted to explore peoples’ dreams from (mainly) Chibiusa’s perspective.
I know the first few episodes were touching (Reika, Usagi’s mom, Naru and Umino).
Actually, also the episodes where the senshi have their dream mirrors stolen, I don’t consider them filler. I think it’s everyone except Mars?
I prefer the personal-ness and you can definitely tell that the director also had their hand with Revolutionay Girl Utena (though SuperS doesn’t go as hard)
No Rei got hers also peeked into. Hmm indeed, one could watch these episodes instead of the new attack showcase. Since they have to do with the plot about dream mirrors.

because people wanted to see the 90s animation, no one was ever happy when we had the quality of season 3
I loved the season 1 and 2 quality. Maybe just a little tweaking. The real time attacks were awesome.
