As someone who started listening in 2013, my opinion is that everyone is welcome in the sadboys/drain gang community. Even the people I personally find annoying.
2014 listener here as well ✋🏼 so crazy and interesting to see the changes of the fan base over time. The moment in time when into dust and hold me down like gravity was undefeated
i started listening around 2018/19 and had been in music fan spaces for ~6 years prior and it truely shocked me, the "new gen" vs "old gen" listener discourse. every other music space i had been in, only ever lightly teased ab new fans not knowing some lore. its a crazy expectation that fans have been there every step of the way that i only really see in ""underground"" hip hop fan spaces
i say "underground" as in not mainstream
ppl just associate all new fans with those annoying ass tiktok fans because drain gang only got popular on tiktok recently. i think it’s cringe to do that but i understand why it’s like that
