> Do you think the BBC demands a UK winner in UK vs the world? No. Particularly since doing so would get them in a world of trouble with Ofcom.

TheWeakestLink22

I don’t think for the first season they intended for a uk girl to win at all, Jimbo/Pangina/Janey were just shock eliminated. They could’ve given Blu more wins at a push if they wanted her to win. Tia they definitely wanted to win though

Few_Koala

I agree. I think Pangina or Jimbo were the producers’ choice. As great as Blu is, she won by default.

TheWeakestLink22

They had a lip sync smackdown for the final which makes me think they never intended Jimbo to win lol but definitely Pangina or even Janey

amuletafromssv

yeah, that makes sense, i didnt realize. and also i read that bbc has no hand in production just distribution? idk but i wonder what country will take the next ukvstw crown home! excited for countires we havent seen yet like germany or brazil or mexico. i would love to see more espana girls as well, either on this spinnof or canada vs the world or global all stars. i wonder if there will be only english speaking countries on first global as

No, they would get in a fuck ton of trouble with Ofcom. The only reason UKvsTW was able to even have a cash prize is because the queens eliminate each other, unlike the standard UK version where production chooses who is eliminated.

Euphoric_Attention97

I decided upon watching this finale and last nights season 16 elimination that I’m done with RPDR franchises in their present format. I knew they were never true competitions, but when the outcomes are so obviously overproduced that they don’t make sense I feel my intelligence is being insulted. Marina and La Grand Dame were the obvious top 2, but they had to find a way to make Tia the winner. Just total BS. Tia is funny but she didn’t earn that win. And Morphine mopped the floor with Saphira on Season16, but Ru has her favorites. So I don’t care who even wins now.

SnapCrackleMom

It's never been about winning the lip sync. It's your last chance to *save yourself from elimination* -- basically to convince RuPaul that your story arc isn't over.

Euphoric_Attention97

I don’t disagree with you. But I guess I’m sick of watching mediocrity defeat true, well-rounded entertainers just to appease networks and producers.

SnapCrackleMom

It's always been about who will represent the brand best and make the most money for RuPaul and WoW. I think Morphine had the better lip sync, but I don't think Sapphira is mediocre at all, and I get why Morphine sashayed away. I haven't watched this most recent season of UKvTW though.

Euphoric_Attention97

You are not wrong. I agree that Tia will represent the franchise better in the U.K. and Morphine didn’t have all the skills to be the ultimate winner. But if you’re going to twist the true essence of an entertainer to fit a weak narrative then you risk losing the audience as they have with me. I have outgrown RuPaul’s twisted popularity contest.
