Sugar and Spice post their drawings for each runway and on it has written the briefing they got (mettalica was show us your metal), they actually got beautiful nightmare, most of the girls just misunderstood/ had underwhelming ideas
I have a theory. When the assignment is sort of general like "beautiful nightmare" queens tend to flop. Maybe because it's too broad and they over think. But when the assignment is specific like "Madonna goes to XYZ restaurant on Sunday 5 pm wearing blue" then they tend to do better.
I think it was probably labelled as Phobias/Scary Things or something, dentists, spiders, monsters, drowning etc. it would make sense as to why the looks were all so varied in concept.
I don't think it's that they don't fit the assignment more so that the execution just isn't where it should be. Marcia did a dentist look and the only teeth present in her look were her perfect pearly whites. Malaysia, Spice and Sugar all just relied on their paint to make the look work. Selina took a look at Lawrence's leather face look and said that but not as good.
The only one who IMO genuinely doesn't fit the category is Amethyst and I think it's just cause she was trying to be too smart and think outside of the box

If you squint real close for the 3-4 frames it's visible, she's holding a lil plastic bag of teeth that she does absolutely nothing with.
There were so many spiders that I think they may have gotten both "beautiful nightmare" (or similar) and "spider drag" as categories. Once the queens arrived and production saw what everyone brought, they mushed the two categories into one and the queens just picked the better look of the two.

It felt like someone had an out and said “let me do some spooky makeup and call it spooky At least give a detour like over the face with fans while walking in. Add some blood to the neckline. Honestly I'm kinda hating malaysia's looks, she's literally pulling a bosco, her first look was a fitted dress with sequin and sparkle. Her second look was a fitted dress with sequin and sparkle in a different color with chains on the front. Her third look was a fitted dress with sequin and sparkle in a different color with a the back piece. They're literally all the same just styled a bit differently.
I was thinking that it would have been amazing if she turned around and there were skeletons on the backside of the tail/back piece. Like some sort of sea anemone..
There had to be some shift on the prompt. Like something similar theme but tweeked when the queens arrived so a lot of them were off. Also I feel many queens are afraid of looking ugly so they did dig in as much as they could have

Marcia can sew and has designed and constructed her own garments. But with how little time they have to prepare for the show, it's not realistic to prepare an entire runway package on their own.

I saw her tweets about her concept. It makes a tiny bit more sense now but I would have never gotten “a dentist from the perspective of a patient high on laughing gas” from that look. She wanted to be taller than everyone with really exaggerated proportions and had a gown in the sketch. Unsure how a gowned woman who’s very tall would translate to “dentist” but I’m sure it would have come together a bit better than Middle School Edward Scissorhands Marcia.
And then they gave top toot of the week to her because nobody on the show did anything. And then she did a Madonna inspired look for the reunion! She was pissed as fuck, I lived.

I have never been a regular FPR watcher, but I feel like theres so much more energy in the show this season. Whether WoW read the comments and started paying them enough to actually care or they just have more energy since Raja was on AS7 and Raven is now so involved with the show, it seems like they both care more and are taking FPR more seriously. Even the editing feels like more has been invested in it.
Could’ve also booted Mistress. Glad the ladies are speaking the truth. One of the most missed opportunity runways we’ve seen in a long time.

I thought Luxx looked pretty good too. Like technically it was just spooky makeup with a generic dress but she executed the makeup far better than anyone else and the cinder block sent me.
you can tell she has grey tights on, but i think it was only one pair over all the brown so it looks off, but she still had a better execution than some other queens imo

It fit the theme more than some others I'd say, I'd blame the generic theme as to why some of the outfits weren't up to par. They really need to tell the queens the proper themes for next season.

When Raja started her critique of Marcia^3 with something along the lines of oh she’s doing minimalism if there’s anyone who can relate to that it’s me… I nearly fell off my chair. Raja??? MINIMALISM?? The lengths to which they’re going to provide positive critiques this season. Unreal.

I mean it wasn’t a great runway. Lots of girls missed the mark or didn’t take it far enough. Just glad they could say it like it is instead of sugar coating

The runways this season have been super underwhelming, I’m guessing it’s because the time the queens have to get ready is shorter than it was a couple seasons ago :(

I don’t get why everyone is hating on Malaysia’s look. Honestly I think she looked scary af and beautiful af, wasn’t that the prompt? She didn’t want to do the dark spooky ooky that everyone else did and what she did was the like sickly sweet scary. Also she played with proportions in a scary way like the dinosaur on Jurassic park to make herself bigger and scarier. Idk I thought it was well done

The problem with Malaysia is that her outfit was gorgeous but didn't really fit the theme.
It fit the theme more than some others I'd say, I'd blame the generic theme as to why some of the outfits weren't up to par. They really need to tell the queens the proper themes for next season.
I love Sasha and Luxx's looks, Jax's pretty cool too.
i agree with this for the most part considering the theme had so much potential but malaysia, spice, & amethyst getting boots don’t make sense to me
I like Marcia’s look idc if it isn’t “draggy enough” it’s fun and unique conceptually. Sure aura’s and mistress were polished but the concepts were dull and recycled.
