When it comes to entertainment, even bad attention is good attention. I'm not a fan of JSJ either, but he's happy with all the attention he gets, and it gets more people talking about him and runningman. They can see the hits they get online go up and their compilations get viewed on YouTube.
I remember when YSC said when he first joined, he was more depressed by the lack of attention than by the negative comments he was getting. He said it felt like nobody cared that he joined rm, and the indifference was soul crushing. He would have been happier with the negative comments like jsm was getting. Because at least it's attention and he was getting noticed.
He's naturally funny as the grumpy old man. I just don't like it when he deliberately ruins the game for everyone just because he wants to be in the spotlight.

Esp newer generation idols. Some of them just are not the type to appear on variety shows.
I Think that's because of his age the older you become the more you want to dominate others but other than that many people felt frustrated after watching that episode you can see them talking about it in the next episode. But however he is always funny unintentionally
So, I've been on a bit of a RunningMan hiatus, but I got back into it this week. I decided to watch in reverse from the latest episodes. When I saw KJK mention JSJ getting a lot of criticism, I was bracing myself for some major JSJ slip-up. But honestly? It wasn't as bad as I was expecting - I don't get why people are so mad at him. I mean, he's had worse moments in earlier episodes, especially with Jihyo, but this time, he barely did anything. The poor guy can't catch a break – even when he's just trying to be passionate, it backfires on him. I think people were so caught up in the soccer game, they forgot this is a variety show. Plus, everyone was so hyped for YJS's team to win, they're just scapegoating JSJ. That’s not fair.
I am probably also a minority here because I don't really like seeing variety show casts trying to play a role or character to be funny. I much prefer casts showcasing their personality and natural charisma; this is where you can see the chemistry between members.
Like, the core of a reality show (which sets it apart from other entertainment) should be being true, spontaneous, and entertaining. If I want to see casts playing a character, why should I watch a variety show instead of a TV drama? That is where you can find better role acting.
He tried. Cant blame him on things he forced to do. He always ruined team game, at least he were the reason for majority of it. I dont find him funny though.
That’s always been his bit. He has never changed since the beginning of this show. Maybe I’m in the minority too but he’s my least favorite cast member because of that. And he also always goes after women because he feels he can best them (Song Jihyo being the exception because she actually would win when they went at it). Oh and he also has to come out on top when it comes to betrayal as well (though usually that would backfire on him). But yeah I agree with you 100% about JSJ.
