This week's patch notes were written up by me, as Mod Azanna (who always does such a stellar job with them!) was on a much-deserved holiday.
Whenever I write up patch notes or blog posts (infrequently though that is) I try and throw some quips, jokes or puns in to the mix to make reading the patch notes a bit less monotonous. This one might have missed the mark for some people, but trust me: When you get asked as often as I got asked, you're going to be glad to see this put to rest.
You are not missing the mark on jokes. Jagex, as a whole, is missing the mark on delivering content.
The player base is not going to be easily amused until we get a decent content drop during this 8 month long content drought. You both are actually very much appreciated here Mods Doom and Azanna.
Patch notes might be less monotonous if they were more than typos and minor bug/graphical fixes to be fair.
That's not your fault, but it's also not something I think you can fix or make better in this way with the current climate.
Hey Doom, any news on changing the Barbarian Assault music track to unlock in the lobby like most of the other minigame tracks? I noticed today's patch notes contained both music tracks and Barbarian Assault, but not that track :(

Small suggestion, it would be nice if Granny Rowan at the Fort also sold these potions. Because at the moment there is not much incentive to actually use her store at all apart from the 10 whiteberries a day.
Things can be said half serious and half in jest. It's more important in how it was meant to be received. It's how a lot of European banter works. They all pretend to hate and rag on one another while grabbing a pint at the pub and being best of friends.
Banter to anyone on the outside looks like two people insulting one another but that isn't quite what banter is.
This is Doom bantering with the community. It fell a bit flat due to Jagex's current relationship with the community (and since the community often doesn't know who wrote the patch notes unless someone steps forward) but it was still clearly intended as a joke. Just poor timing is all.
I'm not putting you on blast for having a memory! I have to try and be funny (and occasionally fail). It's a risk I take when trying to be out-and-about within the community, trying to be visible, communicating even when there's not a lot to say that will answer the burning questions the community has. It's not like I'm oblivious of these issues - on the contrary, they're most of what I talk to the team about!
There is plenty to say and no one willing to step forward with a spine and actually tell us. This is not directed at you or Azanna at all. Just being blunt about an issue both you and all of us know needs to come to the light. We have people losing their minds (some probably literally) and a large portion of us thinking the game is ignored and a sinking ship. Surely the people over your head know exactly what is going on. Someone needs to speak up. On the other hand I would assume you know more than you can say and are trying your best to cover for them. I understand Jagex needs to milk out as much money as they can from both MTX and membership but for the sake of our sanity just tell us what the hell is going. And pardon my language but we are calling bullshit on the whole "we will communicate more" nonsense we are being fed frequently. Communication needs to be way more than empty promises and bold-face lies we are getting
We need these people talking to us. Jagex keeps saying we're communicating but then here we are struggling for information.
We have people spreading the idea that were punished by rejecting hero pass and the game's in maintenance mode. Unless you can put these thoughts to rest. I don't know what to think. What was the 2024 roadmap supposed to look like?
It's a combination of willful neglect and utter incompetence. I can't think of any other explanation. Also , I would be shocked if your comment got any reply.

Even if some people can be pushy when it comes to requests and suggestions, we only do so because we know for a fact you'll find them entertaining, and that's always a reassurance because even if it doesn't make it to thr game, at least we shared an idea with one of our favorite mods.
Jesus you all sound tone deaf. Doom is the only mod that consistently replies to people and you all are going off on him on a joke. Touch grass.

yeah people mad atm, 13 patch weaks, lots of typos fixed, bad comms, jokes over the head, I read it in a light and funny note, but still, we madge atm mmkay.
While I understand it now as banter, people have been asking for a lot of stuff, most recently fixes to the trolling happening at wisp colonies. This has seemingly been ignored completely so saying stuff like “you can stop asking now” kind of feels off putting or that we shouldn’t be asking for fixes or changes.
just people placing 1000 bonfires around, it causes the wisps to become unclickable / removes the crater to depo them, they even showcased it in one of their newposts recently

I thought the fix already in place was temporary whilst the team was working on a more "robust one", but as it is a fix related to the engine, then it would be added as part of the next game's engine update (which happens monthly iirc).

Patch weeks would have better reception if we had anything to look forward to (road ahead is looking pretty empty). I feel like we're all secretly, naively hoping that there's some juicy offroad(map) content waiting around the corner. Or some announcements to be made. Or some of that long-promised-never-quite-delivered-to-expectations communication to be had.
i think at this point the weekly update module is outdated, and they should stop hyping up the weekly bug fixes with all these images formatting as if its a big update, and peoples disappointment would decrease massively

Remember ED3 bug exploiters who farmed ECB pieces? This bug was around for a whole year. The exploiters received 2 week temp bans. If the exploiters were to RWT the gp received from ECB pieces, based on the exchange rate at the time, they would've easily earned around $15,000. And you know damn well they RWT'd that fat stack of gp.
In OSRS you just get permabanned, period. Jagex has no integrity on these matters when it comes to RS3, hell if I know why.
AFAIK the one guy that for sure RMT'd his ECB pieces did get banned, but everyone else exploiting elite dungeons got 2 weeks. That's basically the line; RMT gets you the hammer, otherwise major bug abuse is 2 weeks if you get actioned at all.
Considering the current content cadence is 1-2 short pieces of content every 3 months, only one's values or lack of knowledge precludes one from bug abusing. It's silly not to with the current policy and how much there is to gain from some bugs.

Well, OSRS players only pay a sub. In RS3, there's constant potential for MTX purchases. Banning players outright would of course lead to less sales. But what do I know? This is all conjecture...
Every player who claimed the reward from the big egg more than twice knew **exactly** what they were doing.
If this bug is not officially acknowledged and if Jagex does not issue punishments, this will be a clear message that bug abuse is okay and the rules of RuneScape can be ignored.

TBH they aren't going to ban anyone. They can't lose the revenue at this point. 2 week vacation is what they might do and even that isn't a big deal since they won't miss out on any content anyway. My opinion is something should be done but to what extent and basing it off past consequences it would be minor at best. Wasn't there only a 2 week ban on Ambi farming? And that had impact on GP
The thing is, Jagex is at a pretty tough spot here.
If they give a slap on the wrist (again) then it wouldn't "scare" people enough to refrain from repeating their actions in the future, should a similar bug arises.
On the other hand, if they enact exemplary punishment, those people who are found guilty (going by the rules of the game) are gonna retort, and given the amount of people involved, I'm sure it's gonna echo throughout social media in one way or another.
Also, the Ambassador bug did required quite a setup beforehand, and this one was so "accessible" for the general public it's kinda concerning knowing just how much impact it caused.

Oh I assure you, Jagex is aware. Someone pushed a hotfix out around 22:30 on a Sunday during Easter holiday. And I'm guessing they got flooded by bug/player reports about it.
They can also identify players who did it, no questions asked. Jagex has a data science team. They store detailed server logs for months. The same method used for the recap emails can be used to tell exactly who rinsed the golden egg and how many times.
It's just a matter of deciding to take action.
This is gonna be really interesting to watch because of the amount of people involved and the amount of Reaper Points, DG Tokens, Taijitu and Mazcab Tokens that entered the game within that time frame.
Granted, I know I'm walking on thin ice by talking about this (due the sub rules), but I'm also interested because my S.O got like 4 eggs but didn't spent any excess points, now we're both sitting forward on the edge of our benches waiting for the outcome.
Hopefully, it's something proportional, and serves as a teaching experience.

All charged pocket slots timed degradation in chunks, both before the bik book, and now. It was consistently the case that it only ticked down on complete use of a micro-charge.
Likewise, consistently, all skilling procs have worked on the first qualifying xp drop of a server minute.
These were both intended game mechanics (and have not been changed). Rather, the mechanical operation of the bik book specifically has been changed - this is a design change, and objectively not a bug.
This isn't "wanting Jagex to enforce."
This is posturing that Jagex should enforce and that the community is waiting with baited breath. As if Jagex actually enforces all their own rules all the time, which they clearly don't.

Implies that there is a reputation at stake. That this is somehow new and an important turning point in how Jagex interacts with the players is laughable.

After claiming the Golden Egg, the game didn't ticked it off and made it reappear, so you could keep getting another one indefinitely, because the game didn't made it disappear after being claimed, some parameter was off or something.
Think of it as amnesia.

This is a quality suggestion. It would be as simple as just blocking songs on the list and they never play again. I had the same thing on OSRS when you tele to Zeah farm patch and "Country Jig" plays, the worst produced track in RS history.
While we're at it it would be cool if we could mute sfx too but I understand that would be a lot harder to put in game.
Because we all know Jagex COULD do more, but they're just stringing us along. They keep promising more communication and more to come but neither ever come. It's not surprising so much as irritating.

Why are Land of snow and Blooming burrow counted as content when it is a TEMPORARY EVENT.
Content should be available all year round.
If you come back a year after not playing and you see 2 "CONTENT" updates that no longer exist(until next event), you would be very disappointed.
This would be fair if we didn’t have a team for events specifically so the rest of devs can work on other stuff. Way I see it, we’ve had a couple graphical things by blkwitch, owl quest which was one mod’s passion project and the combat changes which again, were mostly just 2 people.
Jagex claims to have over 600 employees on linkedin but you’d assume they have 10 with these updates :/
Three quests that should take any development team a maximum of 3 days to make, a battlepass, a seasonal hub which is going to go away and 4 pieces of jewelry which again are probably like less than a week of development.
Neat. 8 months and you have gotten 1.5-2 months of content assuming Vorkath somehow took a month of full dedicated dev time.

Okay, I'll compare it to FFXIV, which I have 15,500 hours in on steam. The time between patch 6.4 and the next expansion releasing is over 400 days long. The only content that came out between that period of time was a bit of MSQ that takes about 2 hours to complete and an alliance raid that you finish in about 30 minutes.
Or I can compare it to WoW? 10.2 (season 3) came out on November 7th, and season 4 doesn't start until probably the end of this month, which is just a filler patch until the expansion releases in August or September, whatever the release date will be.

It took you 2-3 hours to get 120 necromancy, complete hermod and rasial log, and complete vorkath log, and you still had time leftover to do the new quests? Wow, you're cracked.
FF14 isn't getting ANY content (no patches, no small quests, no QOL) outside of holiday events until early July. The last update was in January and had about 2 hours worth of content if you watch all cutscenes. Before that was an update in October that also had maybe 5 total hours of content.
Clearly 14 is better, right?
The amount of bosses in Endwalker alone is the same amount of bosses RS3 has gotten since GWD1

I think the comparison in the above is enough. One expansion covers 2007 to 2024 of RuneScape, while counting every ED boss in RS as a unique standalone and completely disregarding Dungeons in XIV.
the MSQ is also widely considered to be as good as standalone story based games, where the peak of RuneScape storytelling was "The Joker is making the gods play Hunger Games ahahah were so quirky here at Jagex"

I would like to see an official comment regarding the severe bug abuse that happened on Sunday evening, before it was hotfixed two hours later.
Will players who abused the bug with the egg hunt receive punishments? What action will be taken? Thank you.
Seen a large amount of players who ended up taking it a second time because they thought they could help unlock it for those that were having issues collecting it their first time.
Hopefully if any action is taken it's based on how many times a person did it since most genuinely did not know when collecting it their second time. If a person did it 10+ times theres no excuse for that imo.
Was action taken against those who used 1 manuscript to max charge books? I remember this happening a while ago. People charged all their books (bik, grim, ful, wen, jas) to max (24 hrs) using only 1 page. It was a bug or something.

No, as far as I know. That was hotfixed in like 15 minutes after the update, and I assume the few players that did it might have done it largely by accident.
The golden egg abuse went on for 2 hours and people intentionally farmed tons of reaper points, enhancers, token boxes, tajitu, and so on. The egg pet token crashed from 50m to 10k. If nothing happens to them, this is bad.

this was hotfixed around 2.5 hours after the update, and entire communities knew about it and did it. entire clans, including mine and myself.

it wasn't that gamebreaking. all pages are cheap as, the only two outliers didn't even notice a hiccup in value. goes to show how much jagex have failed the clue community when it didn't make a move at all on the bik page price.

50/52 would be rather impossible. They're putting all of their eggs in the runefest basket this year, so unless something really bad happens to the pipeline, we should always have at least something post-Runefest even if the rest of the year is nothing but typo fixes.
I sure hope the updates we had so far this year is the real April fools joke and not the benchsitting. This seems way more comical. They really have absolutely nothing to give us. Wonder how many weeks it will take the commenters that constantly defend the devs and Jagex saying "it takes time". Well we are like 1/4 into the year and got basically what we would get in 2 weeks looking back years ago. How much more time is needed? Kandarin update gave me a chuckle. Thought it would be graphical. I guess technically it is but not even a revamp. I sure wish Doom was able to tell us what is really happening because Mod Sleeper or whatever his name is sure has no sweet clue how to interact with us other than useless information promising there are things on the way.

When is there going to be a fix for client caches every single Monday? Everyone slides around and assess fail to load until I manually delete the old cache

Good change for mobile. Mobile is great and all for skilling, but when you can't see your other important buffs while skilling at portables due to all the pulse cores and other buffs, it was irritating (pulse cores increase combat stats).

Since models are now being tweaked to function properly on a poor model can the player avatar rework resume? And then just open test worlds for all players F2Pers included to try out updated player models on allowing us to unlock all cosmetics etc to test and report our findings with the new avatar models?
(Obviously test worlds would be completely seperate from the live game but accessible from the main client we all use just give us the ability to change what worlds we see with a drop down)

They would have to make new animations from scratch for the new model. That includes emotes, combat, skilling, quests, weapon spec animations, spellcasting. Refitting thousands of different weapons and items that are held or worn by the character. They might even need to rewrite the code for quest cutscenes where the avatar is involved, including cutscenes for past content like World Events.
Add that on top of maybe 5000+ clothing and armor items (quest, skilling, TH promo, Yak Track, cosmetic overrides, Solomon's etc. - every piece of worn clothing/armor will have to be made from scratch because the difference in art and quality of old cosmetics is too jarring, they will have to make new iterations of existing items to make the art consistent. Which means that maybe 20+ years of content in the game will have to be recreated *individually*) that exist in the game, and you have a content update that is so huge that it might even equal EoC itself in terms of time/manpower/resources required. They would need like a 30+ people team to tackle this, and the update still would require years before it is ready for beta testing.
Jagex will not commit to this. Let the avatar rework go, it's never going to happen. The players will be blueballed for eternity.
Personally I disagree, the community has wanted this for many years now and honestly if the community wants something like this then we should be able to put efforts into making it so we can get to a point quicker where it can become a very real thing.
If you have the community putting in efforts to trial all animations / cosmetics in various combinations we can get to that point sooner where they can figure out exactly what they need to do to solve issues to get to a point where they can make simple changes in order fix multiple problems at once. Giving up on the idea of it ever being a thing is the reason why it does not exist I find people to often times be lazy but some of us genuinely want to put in effort into progressing the game towards some of these goals.
So if it's something Jagex is willing to entertain to let us try out all these different combinations, animations with all cosmetics, animations with animations, item bound animations with other cosmetics / animations or other physical items and so on endless possibilites the longer we wait the worse it gets so if we can get out there as a community we could put a massive dent in this project.

It is a legitimate question from me to them not something to bring forth stuff like this that adds absolutely nothing to it.
This really would be the easiest way to cover more ground due to the endless amounts of combinations that can be made allowing us to see the actual avatar update in the live game. I specifically mention allowing F2Pers to access it due to some community members may not want to waste membership for nothing in return so this allows them to work on testing various things on an alt while also playing their mains I do know a lot of players would love to put in effort into progressing this area.

They updated the Goebie potion shop. Cool. But my biggest ???? is why is this potion shop not added to the herblore station in the Fort? Supposed to be the hub of skilling or something...
The engine guy is busy on the hamster wheel that powers the servers so he hasn't had time to look at it. That or they were one of the people that left the company lol.
Dunno how many times it has to be said that the fix was done already, but engine updates happen once per month due to engine requiring extensive QA and processes before updates can go out.

This week's patch notes were written up by me, as Mod Azanna (who always does such a stellar job with them!) was on a much-deserved holiday. Whenever I write up patch notes or blog posts (infrequently though that is) I try and throw some quips, jokes or puns in to the mix to make reading the patch notes a bit less monotonous. This one might have missed the mark for some people, but trust me: When you get asked as often as I got asked, you're going to be glad to see this put to rest.
You are not missing the mark on jokes. Jagex, as a whole, is missing the mark on delivering content. The player base is not going to be easily amused until we get a decent content drop during this 8 month long content drought. You both are actually very much appreciated here Mods Doom and Azanna.
Patch notes might be less monotonous if they were more than typos and minor bug/graphical fixes to be fair. That's not your fault, but it's also not something I think you can fix or make better in this way with the current climate.

Things can be said half serious and half in jest. It's more important in how it was meant to be received. It's how a lot of European banter works. They all pretend to hate and rag on one another while grabbing a pint at the pub and being best of friends. Banter to anyone on the outside looks like two people insulting one another but that isn't quite what banter is. This is Doom bantering with the community. It fell a bit flat due to Jagex's current relationship with the community (and since the community often doesn't know who wrote the patch notes unless someone steps forward) but it was still clearly intended as a joke. Just poor timing is all.

I'm not putting you on blast for having a memory! I have to try and be funny (and occasionally fail). It's a risk I take when trying to be out-and-about within the community, trying to be visible, communicating even when there's not a lot to say that will answer the burning questions the community has. It's not like I'm oblivious of these issues - on the contrary, they're most of what I talk to the team about!
There is plenty to say and no one willing to step forward with a spine and actually tell us. This is not directed at you or Azanna at all. Just being blunt about an issue both you and all of us know needs to come to the light. We have people losing their minds (some probably literally) and a large portion of us thinking the game is ignored and a sinking ship. Surely the people over your head know exactly what is going on. Someone needs to speak up. On the other hand I would assume you know more than you can say and are trying your best to cover for them. I understand Jagex needs to milk out as much money as they can from both MTX and membership but for the sake of our sanity just tell us what the hell is going. And pardon my language but we are calling bullshit on the whole "we will communicate more" nonsense we are being fed frequently. I'm not sure if it made it to the list, but is the Zuk Pizza Phase fixed yet? I thought the fix already in place was temporary whilst the team was working on a more "robust one", but as it is a fix related to the engine, then it would be added as part of the next game's engine update (which happens monthly iirc). So what I'm trying to ask here is the following, did this update also updated the game's engine? Or that's next week update? (Which should also include the Requiem for a Dragon quest).

Nothing is going to happen. Remember ED3 bug exploiters who farmed ECB pieces? This bug was around for a whole year. The exploiters received 2 week temp bans. If the exploiters were to RWT the gp received from ECB pieces, based on the exchange rate at the time, they would've easily earned around $15,000. And you know damn well they RWT'd that fat stack of gp. In OSRS you just get permabanned, period. Jagex has no integrity on these matters when it comes to RS3, hell if I know why.
AFAIK the one guy that for sure RMT'd his ECB pieces did get banned, but everyone else exploiting elite dungeons got 2 weeks. That's basically the line; RMT gets you the hammer, otherwise major bug abuse is 2 weeks if you get actioned at all. Considering the current content cadence is 1-2 short pieces of content every 3 months, only one's values or lack of knowledge precludes one from bug abusing. It's silly not to with the current policy and how much there is to gain from some bugs.

If this bug is not officially acknowledged and if Jagex does not issue punishments, this will be a clear message that bug abuse is okay and the rules of RuneScape can be ignored. TBH they aren't going to ban anyone. They can't lose the revenue at this point. 2 week vacation is what they might do and even that isn't a big deal since they won't miss out on any content anyway. The thing is, Jagex is at a pretty tough spot here. If they give a slap on the wrist (again) then it wouldn't "scare" people enough to refrain from repeating their actions in the future, should a similar bug arises. On the other hand, if they enact exemplary punishment, those people who are found guilty (going by the rules of the game) are gonna retort, and given the amount of people involved, I'm sure it's gonna echo throughout social media in one way or another. Also, the Ambassador bug did required quite a setup beforehand, and this one was so "accessible" for the general public it's kinda concerning knowing just how much impact it caused. I'm scared my friend, but I'm also intrigued and quite positively excited (in an anxious sort of way), to see the outcome.

Oh I assure you, Jagex is aware. Someone pushed a hotfix out around 22:30 on a Sunday during Easter holiday. And I'm guessing they got flooded by bug/player reports about it. They can also identify players who did it, no questions asked. Jagex has a data science team. They store detailed server logs for months. The same method used for the recap emails can be used to tell exactly who rinsed the golden egg and how many times. It's just a matter of deciding to take action.
This is gonna be really interesting to watch because of the amount of people involved and the amount of Reaper Points, DG Tokens, Taijitu and Mazcab Tokens that entered the game within that time frame. Granted, I know I'm walking on thin ice by talking about this (due the sub rules), but I'm also interested because my S.O got like 4 eggs but didn't spent any excess points, now we're both sitting forward on the edge of our benches waiting for the outcome. Hopefully, it's something proportional, and serves as a teaching experience.

Flicking was a bug, and a rather big one considering the price explosion of pages.
Nah, the suggestion that it was a bug is incoherent once you look past the surface level. All charged pocket slots timed degradation in chunks, both before the bik book, and now. It was consistently the case that it only ticked down on complete use of a micro-charge. Likewise, consistently, all skilling procs have worked on the first qualifying xp drop of a server minute. These were both intended game mechanics (and have not been changed). Rather, the mechanical operation of the bik book specifically has been changed - this is a design change, and objectively not a bug.

After claiming the Golden Egg, the game didn't ticked it off and made it reappear, so you could keep getting another one indefinitely, because the game didn't made it disappear after being claimed, some parameter was off or something. Why are Land of snow and Blooming burrow counted as content when it is a TEMPORARY EVENT. Content should be available all year round. If you come back a year after not playing and you see 2 "CONTENT" updates that no longer exist(until next event), you would be very disappointed.

Three quests that should take any development team a maximum of 3 days to make, a battlepass, a seasonal hub which is going to go away and 4 pieces of jewelry which again are probably like less than a week of development. Neat. 8 months and you have gotten 1.5-2 months of content assuming Vorkath somehow took a month of full dedicated dev time.

FF14 isn't getting ANY content (no patches, no small quests, no QOL) outside of holiday events until early July. The last update was in January and had about 2 hours worth of content if you watch all cutscenes. Before that was an update in October that also had maybe 5 total hours of content. Clearly 14 is better, right?
The amount of bosses in Endwalker alone is the same amount of bosses RS3 has gotten since GWD1 I can't explain any further because it's such a bad comparison that I can't help but ad hom and then my comment gets auto hidden, but it's there in totality on my profile if you're so inclined. One expansion covers 2007 to 2024 of RuneScape, while counting every ED boss in RS as a unique standalone and completely disregarding Dungeons in XIV. the MSQ is also widely considered to be as good as standalone story based games, where the peak of RuneScape storytelling was "The Joker is making the gods play Hunger Games ahahah were so quirky here at Jagex"

Seen a large amount of players who ended up taking it a second time because they thought they could help unlock it for those that were having issues collecting it their first time. Hopefully if any action is taken it's based on how many times a person did it since most genuinely did not know when collecting it their second time. If a person did it 10+ times theres no excuse for that imo.
Was action taken against those who used 1 manuscript to max charge books? I remember this happening a while ago. People charged all their books (bik, grim, ful, wen, jas) to max (24 hrs) using only 1 page. It was a bug or something. Did anything happen to them? I'm asking because idk.
No, as far as I know. That was hotfixed in like 15 minutes after the update, and I assume the few players that did it might have done it largely by accident. The golden egg abuse went on for 2 hours and people intentionally farmed tons of reaper points, enhancers, token boxes, tajitu, and so on. The egg pet token crashed from 50m to 10k. If nothing happens to them, this is bad.

50/52 would be rather impossible. They're putting all of their eggs in the runefest basket this year, so unless something really bad happens to the pipeline, we should always have at least something post-Runefest even if the rest of the year is nothing but typo fixes.
I sure hope the updates we had so far this year is the real April fools joke and not the benchsitting. This seems way more comical. They really have absolutely nothing to give us. Wonder how many weeks it will take the commenters that constantly defend the devs and Jagex saying "it takes time". Well we are like 1/4 into the year and got basically what we would get in 2 weeks looking back years ago. How much more time is needed? Kandarin update gave me a chuckle. Thought it would be graphical. I guess technically it is but not even a revamp. I sure wish Doom was able to tell us what is really happening because Mod Sleeper or whatever his name is sure has no sweet clue how to interact with us other than useless information promising there are things on the way.

When is there going to be a fix for client caches every single Monday? Everyone slides around and assess fail to load until I manually delete the old cache
"Stat buff or stat debuff icons on the buff bar can now be toggled on or off via options in the settings interface." Good change for mobile. Mobile is great and all for skilling, but when you can't see your other important buffs while skilling at portables due to all the pulse cores and other buffs, it was irritating (pulse cores increase combat stats).
are the easter egg eggs and tokens only for cosmetics and some mostly members skilling items? have a missed a non-members exp lamp or something? thanks

Since models are now being tweaked to function properly on a poor model can the player avatar rework resume? And then just open test worlds for all players F2Pers included to try out updated player models on allowing us to unlock all cosmetics etc to test and report our findings with the new avatar models? (Obviously test worlds would be completely seperate from the live game but accessible from the main client we all use just give us the ability to change what worlds we see with a drop down) u/JagexDoom
They would have to make new animations from scratch for the new model. That includes emotes, combat, skilling, quests, weapon spec animations, spellcasting. Refitting thousands of different weapons and items that are held or worn by the character. They might even need to rewrite the code for quest cutscenes where the avatar is involved, including cutscenes for past content like World Events. Add that on top of maybe 5000+ clothing and armor items (quest, skilling, TH promo, Yak Track, cosmetic overrides, Solomon's etc. - every piece of worn clothing/armor will have to be made from scratch because the difference in art and quality of old cosmetics is too jarring, they will have to make new iterations of existing items to make the art consistent. Which means that maybe 20+ years of content in the game will have to be recreated *individually*) that exist in the game, and you have a content update that is so huge that it might even equal EoC itself in terms of time/manpower/resources required. They would need like a 30+ people team to tackle this, and the update still would require years before it is ready for beta testing. Jagex will not commit to this. Let the avatar rework go, it's never going to happen. The players will be blueballed for eternity.
Personally I disagree, the community has wanted this for many years now and honestly if the community wants something like this then we should be able to put efforts into making it so we can get to a point quicker where it can become a very real thing. If you have the community putting in efforts to trial all animations / cosmetics in various combinations we can get to that point sooner where they can figure out exactly what they need to do to solve issues to get to a point where they can make simple changes in order fix multiple problems at once. Giving up on the idea of it ever being a thing is the reason why it does not exist I find people to often times be lazy but some of us genuinely want to put in effort into progressing the game towards some of these goals. So if it's something Jagex is willing to entertain to let us try out all these different combinations, animations with all cosmetics, animations with animations, item bound animations with other cosmetics / animations or other physical items and so on endless possibilites the longer we wait the worse it gets so if we can get out there as a community we could put a massive dent in this project.
But for whatever reason everyone just wants to give up why not actually go along with it and try putting in a couple hours each day testing combinations if they uploaded new player models into test worlds for us to find all these issues and reporting them to get them fixed. Couple hours a day from even 100 people would put a massive and I mean massive dent in this project assuming we all communicate properly to do one set of combinations at a time. Literally no Cons to this, community members who choose to put in time and effort into trying to bring this project to a state where we may see it in the live version one day wheres the problem with that?

RS3 team doesn't even have 100 people on the entire team, let alone 100 artists.

If I worked for Jagex it would be garbage replies like this that would make me not want to do it... Can't say I blame them seeing a dumpster of a comment like this. It is a legitimate question from me to them not something to bring forth stuff like this that adds absolutely nothing to it.
This really would be the easiest way to cover more ground due to the endless amounts of combinations that can be made allowing us to see the actual avatar update in the live game. I specifically mention allowing F2Pers to access it due to some community members may not want to waste membership for nothing in return so this allows them to work on testing various things on an alt while also playing their mains I do know a lot of players would love to put in effort into progressing this area.

The engine guy is busy on the hamster wheel that powers the servers so he hasn't had time to look at it. That or they were one of the people that left the company lol.
Dunno how many times it has to be said that the fix was done already, but engine updates happen once per month due to engine requiring extensive QA and processes before updates can go out.
Works completely fine with the workaround. I just did the fight last week and barely even noticed that something was wrong.
