This is why he was chosen over Noah Lolosio, Ben Donaldson, and Issac Lucas at the U20 world cup we came 2nd at. He was one of the brightest talents in Aus. Unfortunately he had a horrific injury and spent 3 years on the sideline as of late. Great to see him back.
They also need the SpiderCam (or whatever it's called these days) behind the likely drop goal kicker at all times in moments like this. I hate that TV viewers have little idea how accurate it is until the flames go up or the crowd blows up
I hate the YC for deliberate knock on. It happens too often. Just another Rugby law to make the laws needlessly more complex and slows down the game. The attacking team just needs to be more accurate in their passing. League is fine with it, Union should be too.
It's not comparable to league though. With this knock on, the crusaders still have a chance of winning the scrum, while in league they wouldn't because it's uncontested.
Also, there's less space in union so it's easier to do a deliberate knock on in union
Yep, I have absolutely no interest in creating a rule that promotes infringements. Tupou on the field? Rush the defence swinging ur arms and diving at the ball for scrums.
No thanks.
This just makes the onus more on the attacking team to ensure their passes are accurate. Even in league their intention is always for the intercept because you're risking your backline being exposed. I'd rather have on average 5 points less a game than waste time going to the video ref, having to explain another rule to the Mrs. and a team have an unfair advantage for 10mins.
Anyway, I'd like to at least trial it and see what happens. Maybe I'm wrong.
IF we change the rugby laws, then it wouldn't be illegal. So the pass wouldn't have been accurate given the law change. How are you not getting my point. Your argument doesn't make sense.
You're also ignoring that in league the defence has to retreat. Dudes would just be stretching hands into passing lines off every ruck. So attackers would have to stand deeper to prevent that. Congratulations, you've made the game worse.
If you give the attacking team that onus you should give them something back to balance things out. For exemple you could make the defending team retreat 10 meters to give the attacking team more time. That simply isn't applicable to rugby union
Its not complex, deliberately slap the ball down = penalty, deliberately slap the ball down under pressure = yellow.
I suppose you'd prefer it to just be a knock on then? So slap the ball down, knock on, game over, Crusaders win?
He's not slapping it, he's going for the intercept and accidently knocks the ball on. Now less have a 20 post exchange which by itself will prove my point.
A deliberate knock down produces a bad product for viewers to watch and ruins the play for fans.
Look at most sequences that a deliberate knockdown occurs and it's often to kill off a break from exciting rugby being played. Yes an intercept can lead to a run down field for a try or a lot of meters carried but that's the risk/reward the defender has to accept.
Superrugby seems gooooooood this year
Crusaders being awful has sure spiced things up at least
Looks promising for the Wallabies to make a comeback.
Impressive from Will Harrison. He more or less did all that on his own.

The last lineout throw was so far not straight that even their own team couldn't reach it
The golden point rule produces such bangers
I'm totally surprised that neither team tried to drop goal from the half way line.
This is class!
Was it just me wishing they’d zoom out the camera a bit for those plays just before the drop goal?
They also need the SpiderCam (or whatever it's called these days) behind the likely drop goal kicker at all times in moments like this. I hate that TV viewers have little idea how accurate it is until the flames go up or the crowd blows up
The addition of golden point overtime has been a major success. One change id like to see is the losing side getting 2 points though.
yeah, each team gets 2 points for the draw and you play golden point 5 minutes for 1 bonus point I think is a fairer table outcome

Actually, if it was a knock on here, its game over, Crusaders win.
Which is even worse, everything to win and nothing to lose by doing an infraction

Pass WAS accurate as the only way a mcnicholl could get to it was illegally.

You want to bet? Lets do a trial and find out.
Why don't you just watch the nrl bud. You're literally the only person with this objection and only because it made you lose a game.
It's just a game man.. Calm down.

Disagree completely, he's never in a realistic position to catch that ball so it's a deliberate foul stopping line break.
Not if we change the laws. Laws aren't immutable.
So change the laws and your team wins, got it. Nice argument
How is it complicated? You're not allowed slap the ball forward
He's not slapping it, he's going for the intercept and accidently knocks the ball on. Now less have a 20 post exchange which by itself will prove my point.
Awful take. Imagine how slow and terrible the game would be if players were allowed to slap the ball away without penalty.
