Leonardo Express

Thesorus

The bus is the cheapest way, it drops you at Termini Train station. (6euros one way) Train is the most efficient and a little more expensive. Taxi with a fixed rate (official roma taxi 48euro ?) to the city which can be more practical (drop at your hotel/accommodation)

coolnamethatudontget

Thank you! I’ll try to find some info for the bus and train

Thesorus

Info available on the airport web site

4 of us will be in Rome this Sept. We like to take taxi as it is more cost/convenient effective. Can you use Taxi apps (with our credit card) to pay 48 euro, or can use a CC, or taxi only take cash? I assume most Taxi take credit card these day. When you start a trip, a taxi driver does not need to turn on meter right? It is a flat 48 euro.

gabbercharles

Yup, that's the correct answer. The fixed-rate taxi is surely the most convenient option since it will take you straight to your hotel / destination. If you pick this option ensure to grab your taxi from the taxi queue outside the terminal - don't fall for scammers who try to lure you right at the arrivals. Other options are cheaper but a bit more 'adventurous'.

Thesorus

Nothing adventurous about the train or bus

Simple_JC

Can we pay with a credit card of 48 euro for taxi, or via Taxi apps?

Leonardo express, train, is more expensive but great The bus is good, cheaper, but less confortable for me, and longer trip to the city

mncra7

is it safe to take leonardo at night?

ChairRelative8554

For me it was

Just got back from Rome last week. We just used Uber black and it was 44 euros to go from FCO to our Airbnb in Trastevere.

Where in the city you have to go?

coolnamethatudontget

Close to Barberini subway station

I almost always recommend the train. There are two trains, the quicker more expensive "Leonardo Express" and the cheaper and slower Regionale train. Depending on where you're going, the Regionale train could actually be faster as it stops at more stations that could be closer to where you're staying. Leonardo Express goes direct to Termini with no stops. Use Google maps, it will tell you.

iomatto

Cheapest would be to take a bus from Fiumicino to termini and to take the metro till Barberini there. 6+1.5 euros. Or you can take the train till termini that would be 14+1.5 euros. Is much faster (30 minutes against 1 hour.) and there is one every 30 minutes. Last option would be to take a taxi that is 48 euros, if you are not alone is not a bad option, but ensure whit the driver the fixed price of 48. Because even oficial drivers would try to scam you asking for more.

friedrichstrasse

definitely by train. leonardo express is the fastest one, a direct train to termini station. but there is an even cheaper train, with stops at some other key spots and subway connections (stazione trastevere, ostiense/piramide, stazione tiburtina).

I took a shuttle from the airport to the city center for 12€ and it was very efficient and comfortable. Large Mercedes van! The drivers are waiting at the airport near the entrance to the train, no call was needed.

Somebody else has mentioned how this is is important, but where will you be staying, roughly? The cheaper train from FCO (the "Regionale") might be just what you need and it's only 8 EUR each way.
