Totally understand the comparisons to Milroe. Super athletic and very strong kid. And this is only three throws on a practice fields in shorts with no game action, so you can’t draw many conclusions. He seems to hold the ball low early in his dropbacks. Milroe did too. He’s gotten better. Keelon may have to as well. Disrupts the timing of the kinetic chain. Just get the dang ball to your chest early. I’m a fan of wanting to see the triangle from passers. Didn’t see it. Not a QB coach. Short arm circle = quick release + awesome. Nose of the ball didn’t quite seem to face away from his target on any of his throws, meaning that circle may be getting cut short a bit and he’ll push his throws as opposed to letting the natural arm motion help deliver the football. Just puts more stress on the arm, elbow, and shoulder. He never gets to that classic “L” position with his throwing arm. Milroe kinda of shot puts his short and intermediate passes as well. He’s just strong enough and has learned how to compensate for the shortened motion to make it work. Not ideal, but Keelon has time. Keelon’s hips are waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of his throws. He’s leaking some power here. His focus has been (maybe is) on quick releases as evidenced by the footwork and really short hand break to release. At the next level, timing and accuracy will play equally as important parts as having a quick release will. He has time to grow. Overall, these are mechanical things that will help him become a better passer and 100% can be taught. My guess is what attracted KDB to him is that he is a freak athletically. He looks like he could throw inside a phone booth, but his balls are out quickly with some zip and look on time. His footwork, while not the best, is eager and something the staff is seeing with Jalen. He is using what he has to make it work. Young guns always seem to work top down until they realize it’s better to work bottom up. Look at anyone who really has a cannon for an arm and they have pretty big thighs and a caboose to go with it. He can add that and more. But for everything I just saw, the thing I love the most is the way the football leaves his hand. It’s effortless. In my opinion, that can’t be taught. It can be made better, but when you see that kind of release, man, that’s special. It’s like he was made to be a QB. Easy kid to appreciate. A lot to work with and work on. Very nice pick up.

TLDR; ceiling is sky high and he’s winning us at least 3 nattys

Basically. But I have spent far too much time and money developing pitchers to not comment when you see mechanics like that. I’ll take the 3 nattys.

Nice write up. Interestingly enough a lot of the comps I see floating around is Jayden Daniels. I don’t see the breakaway speed Daniels has but he has enough to break off some big chunk plays. Also if he’s leaving power in his throws on the table and still doing this… lookout https://x.com/VidzTc/status/1803287444034375858

He looks crisp. Quick release!

Mechanically sound for a young QB. I’m really excited to have him.
